  • Among the thermal analysis methods for Multi-Layer Insulation(MLI), effective emittance, diffusion MLI node and arithmetic MLI node methods are compared. The methods have been applied to the aluminum panel under the low earth orbit environment. TRASYS program is used for geometrical math modeling and SINDA program for thermal math modeling and temperature calculation. Test cases are selected according to MLI area on the panel. Temperature results are calculated and compared under the ratio of absorptivity and emissivity.

Fabrication of $TiO_2$-silver transparent thin films low-e coated on glass substrate by ink-jet printing (잉크젯 프린팅을 이용한 low-e $TiO_2$-silver 투명박막형성)

  • Low-emissivity (low-e) coatings with visible transparency have attracted increased interest m reducing heat radiation loss through window panes from ecological and sustainable aspects. $TiO_2$-silver transparent thin films for low-e have good properties for UV and IR blocking as well as photocatalyst compared to that with commercial UV blocking films such as fluorine doped oxide (FTO), antimony doped tin oxide (ATO), etc. In this study, transparent $TiO_2$-silver thin films were prepared by successive ink-jet printing of commercial nano silver and $TiO_2$ sol. The $TiO_2$ sol, as ink for ink-jet printing, were synthesized by hydrothermal process in the autoclave externally pressurized with $N_2$ gas of 200 bar at $120^{\circ}C$ for 10 hrs. The synthesized $TiO_2$ sols were all formed with brookite phase and their particle size was several to 30 nm. At first nano sized silver sol was coated on glass substrate, after that $TiO_2$ sol was coated by ink-jet printing. With increasing coating thickness of $TiO_2$-silver multilayer by repeated ink-jet coating, the absorbance of UV region (under 400nm) and IR region (over 700nm) also increase reasonably, compared to that with commercial UV blocking films.

Manufacturing and Properties of Bi-Sn Impregnated Wood Composites of Juglans nigra (북미산 흑호두나무 Bi-Sn 용융합금 복합체의 제조와 특성)

  • The metalized wood composites with natural grain of imported Juglans nigra, which was impregnated with low melting alloy were manufactured and evaluated in this study. And the proper manufacturing conditions was also investigated in this study. The low melting alloy with bismuth (Bi) and tin (Sn) which are harmless to humans, was applied to this new composites. The composites showed not only no defects of discoloration, delamination, swelling, and cracking, because of high dimensional stability and low thickness swelling, but also much improved performance such as high bending strength, high hardness, abrasion resistance, high thermal conductivity as floor materials. This study also suggested the proper impregnating condition, such as 10 minutes of the preliminary vacuum time, $186^{\circ}C$ of the heating temperature and 10 minutes of the maintaining pressure time at the pressure of $30kgf/cm^2$. This metalized wood composites showed 7 times higher density than control, great increase in bending strength from $131.8N/mm^2$ to $192.3N/mm^2$, and great increase in hardness from $18.2N/mm^2$ to $90.4N/mm^2$. The composites demonstrated not only high emissivity of 91%, high shilding effectiveness of 92.59∼99.99%, high fire resistance but also great decrease in abrasion depth, water absorption and thickness swelling.

ZnO/Ag/ZnO Thin Films With Different Metal Layer Thickness (Metal Layer의 두께 변화에 따른 ZnO/Ag/ZnO 다층 박막의 특성 연구 Properties of Multi Layer)

  • 국내 에너지 소비량의 21.6%가 건물 분야에 소비되고 있다. 창호는 벽체에 비해 8~10배 이상 낮은 단열 특성을 가지기 때문에 열 손실량이 크다. 유리는 창호를 이루는 요소 중 가장 큰 면적을 차지하고 있으며, 창호의 단열성능을 2배로 향상시키면 30% 이상 건물의 에너지 절감 효과를 가질 수 있다. 창호의 단열 성능을 향상시키기 위해서 Low-e(emissivity) 기술 연구가 진행 중이다. 이번 실험에서는 RF 마그네트론 스퍼터링 시스템을 사용하여 XG 유리기판 위에 ZnO박막을 증착하고, evaporator 장비를 사용하여 metal층인 Ag를 증착하였다. 그리고 다시 한번 ZnO박막을 증착하였다. Low-e 연구에 활용할 수 있는지를 확인하기 위해 XRD, AFM, 투과도를 측정하였다. ZnO박막의 증착 조건은 초기압력 $3.0{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr, 공정압력 $2.0{\times}10^{-2}$ Torr, RF파워 30 W, Ar gas는 50 sccm, 증착온도는 상온으로 하였다. Metal층인 Ag를 증착하기 위해 evaporator의 증착 조건은 Rotate rate 2 rpm, voltage 0.3V, 공정압력 $5.0{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr이며, 변수로 Ag두께를 3,5,7,9,11,13,15 nm로 하였다. AFM 측정결과 Ag두께가 증가할수록 RMS roughness값이 높아졌으며, 최소 0.71 nm의 거칠기를 가지는 것을 확인하였다. XRD분석결과 37도 부근의 피크가 발생하여 ZnO 박막이 결정질 구조임을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 UV-Visible-NIR 분광 광도계를 이용하여 광학적 투과를 측정한 결과 Ag두께가 13 nm일 때 가시광 영역의 투과도가 최대 75%, 적외선 영역의 투과도가 최소 28%로 좋은 차단 특성을 가지는 것을 확인하였다. 위 결과들로 ZnO 박막이 Low-e 기술에 활용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Heat transfer between substrate and substrate-heater in low vacuum was investigated. The convection related with gas flow and pressure, the heat conduction considering surface roughness and contact pressure, and the heat loss by radiation depending on the surface emissivity were considered. The coefficient of heat conduction $h_c$ in the Fourier's law were determined experimentally from the temperature difference between the substrate and the substrate-heater in the range of substrate-heater temperature $100\;-\;500^{\circ}C$, in the pressures of 300 mTorr - 1 Torr. The temperature difference was then calculated in the reverse way for the purpose of verification, using the heat flow and the experimentally determined coefficients. The verified temperature differences were thus obtained within 0.33 % error.

  • On-board black body is used for radiation temperature calibration of spaceborne radiometers and imaging systems. The thermal design of black body proposed in this study is basically composed of heaters to heat-up the black body from low to high temperature during the calibration, heat pipe to transfer residual heat on the black body just after calibration to radiator on the S/C and heaters on the radiator to keep the certain temperature range of the black body during non-calibration. In the present work, the effectiveness of thermal design of on-board black body has been investigated by on-orbit thermal analysis.

  • 현대 건축물에서 건물에너지의 손실은 대부분은 창호를 통하여 유출되어지고 있으며 에너지 절감을 위해서는 창호의 단열성을 향상시켜야한다. 저방사(Low Emissivity) 코팅유리는 건축물의 냉난방비용을 절약할 수 있는 대표적인 건축재료로써 외부에서 유입되는 태양광의 가시광선 영역은 높은 투과율을 가지면서 적외선 영역과 겨울철 실내 난방열을 반사하는 특징을 지니는 박막코팅기술이다. 이 코팅유리는 일반적으로 유전체/금속/유전체 다층박막 구조로 되어있으며, 유전체층은 내구성 증진과 금속층의 반사를 낮추어 투과율이 향상된다. 금속층은 적외선영역의 복사에너지를 반사하는 역할을 하며 전도성이 우수한 Ag 또는 Au, Pt 등을 이용하고 있다. Ag의 경우 산화물기판 위에 증착하였을 경우 island 성장을 하고 이들의 합체는 전기적, 광학적 특성에 큰 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 DC-sputtering법으로 제조된 Ag/glass, Ag/Ta/glass 박막을 제조하고 Ta seeding이 Ag의 전기적, 광학적 성질에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 박막의 표면 미세구조는 FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope)과 AFM(Atomic Force Microscope)으로, 표면저항은 4 point probe로 분석하였다. 광투과율은 UV-Vis spectroscopy와 FT-IR로 측정하였으며 측정파장범위는 각각 200~1100nm와 1400~2400nm 이다.

  • The aim of this study is to quantitatively demonstrate the possibility of heat transfer by thermal radiation by comparing heat transfer by conventional heat transfer and radiation by radiation. 1) The heat transfer was measured by using filler of TIM material with low thermal conductivity (CuS). As a result, heat transfer was easier than ceramic with high thermal conductivity ($Al_2O_3$ and $Si_3N_4$). 2) The reason for this is thought to be that the infrared wave due to radiation of the air diaphragm has moved easily. 3) From the above results, the heat dissipation of the TIM material indicates the possibility of heat transfer by thermal radiation.

Thermal Conductivity Analysis of Heating Rollers for Cable Low Dust POD Production (저분진 케이블 POD 생산을 위한 히팅 롤러의 열전도 분석)

  • The heating roller of an actual pulse output device (POD) production facility is composed of a steel roller and a rubber roller. The time to reach a specific temperature and the temperature distribution on the roller surface were analyzed and compared according to the change in the number of cartridge heaters inside the heating roller. In this analysis, a steady-state thermal analysis of a steel roller was performed for the cases of a 5-cartridge heater and 9-cartridge heater. Finite element analysis was applied with reference to the surface temperature data of the heating roller during operation and the calorific value of the cartridge heater. Using the 9-cartridge heater, faster target temperature achievement and more uniform temperature distribution were confirmed than for the 5-cartridge heater.

Far-infrared Emission Characteristics of ZrC Imbedded Heat Storage Knitted Fabrics for Emotional Garment (탄화지르코늄 함유 감성의류용 축열/발열 편물의 원적외선 방출특성)

  • This paper investigated far-infrared emission characteristics of ZrC imbedded heat storage knitted fabrics for emotional garment. For this purpose, ZrC imbedded heat storage PET was spun with high viscosity PET imbedded ZrC powder on the core part and low viscosity PET on the sheath part by conjugated spinning method. Ingredient analysis and far-infrared emission characteristics assessment of spun filament were carried out by EDS and FT-IR spectrometer. Two kinds of knitted fabrics were made using texturized ZrC imbedded PET for measuring thermal characteristics of ZrC imbedded heat storage PET. Zr peak was certified by EDS measurement and it was confirmed that content of Zr was 19.29%. Far-infrared analysis revealed that emission power at the range of wavelength, $5{\sim}20{\mu}m$ was $3.65{\times}10^2W/m^2$, and emissivity was 0.906. Heat storage analysis by KES-F7 system revealed that $Q_{max}$ of ZrC imbedded PET knitted fabric was lower than that of regular PET one and warmth keepability rate was higher than that of regular one, which means that ZrC imbedded PET knitted fabric has heat storage property. Thermal conductivity of ZrC imbedded PET knitted fabric was higher than that of regular PET one which was caused by high thermal conductivity of Zr itself. Hand property of ZrC imbedded knitted fabric was not inferior compared to regular PET knitted fabric, which preferably was found to be dependent on knit structure and surface property.
