  • "The Framework Act on Low-Carbon Green Growth" specifies the requirements for the development and verification of emission factors for establishing reliable national greenhouse gas statistics. The scope of the regulations covers the development and validation of energy, industrial processes, solvents and other product use, agriculture, land use, land use change and emission and absorption coefficients of the forestry and waste sector as defined in the 1996 IPCC Guideline and GPG 2000, The minerals sector to be covered in this study belongs to industrial processes. As a representative method for quantifying and evaluating GHG emission factors, there are emission grade quality grading and DARS (Data Rating Rating System) in the 'Procedures for Preparing Emission Factor Documents (1997)' reported by US-EPA. However, the above two methods are not specific and comprehensive, and lack the details for accurate emission factor verification. Therefore, there is a need for a method for verifying and quantifying certified greenhouse gas emission factors that reflects characteristics of each industry sector in Korea and accord with IPCC G/L and GHG target management. In this study, we conducted a weighted study on quantitative and evaluation lists of emission factor using questionnaires to develop a more accurate methodology for quantifying national greenhouse gas emission factors in the mineral sector. Quantification and evaluation of emission factor are classified into essential verification and quality evaluation. The essential verifications are : administrative compatibility, method of determining emission factors, emission characteristics, sampling methods and analysis methods, representativeness of data. The quality evaluations consisted of the quality control of the data, the accuracy of the measurement and analysis, the level of uncertainty, not directly affect the emission factor, but consisted of factors that determine data quality.

  • We review recent systematic investigation of the X-ray spectra of early type galaxies by using the Einstein data base and present new results by the ROSAT observations. The Einstein data suggested that the galaxies with low X-ray to optical luminosity ratio may have another very soft component. ROSAT observations confirm its presence and call for further study to understand the nature of this very soft emission. The X-ray bright galaxies have emission temperature of ${\sim}\;0.8\;keV$ and show radial gradients in the sense that X-ray emission is softer and more absorbed in the inner region.

  • We fabricated top emission organic light emitting diode (TEOLED) with transparent metal cathode Barium and Silver bilayer. Very thin Ba/Ag bilayer was deposited on the organic layer by thermal evaporation. This cathode showed high transmittance over 70% in visible range, and the device with a Ba-Ag has a low turn on voltage and good electrical properties.

  • The measurement of magnetic field is performed AC magnetic field emission density in driver cab and saloon's compartment of rolling stock. In order to measure magnetic-field emission, a three-axial magnetic-field sensor is used and connected to data process system. The AC magnetic field is checked and analysis through BNC output, DAQ cad and notebook PC. The spectral analysis is performed by short time Fourier transform(STFT) for time-domain emission signal.

  • The fluorescence emission spectrum of Cr$^{3+}$ doped BeAl$_{6}$ O$_{10}$ crystals at 300 K contains a broad band, three R-like lines and another emission lines. It has been identified by a lifetime resolution spectroscopic technique that there are three kinds of single-Cr$^{3+}$ centers, Cr(I), Cr(II), Cr(III), in this crystal. Cr(I) and Cr(II) are high-crystal field centers responsible for the three main "R-lines", and Cr(III) is a low-crystal field center responsible for the main broad band emission. The structures of these luminescent centers are reported.ted.

  • Eco-Machinery engineering technologies in KIMM for reducing NOx emission were introduced. Combustion technologies such as reburning and fuel staged or air staged combustion have been applied to reduce NOx emission in the field of boiler furnaces. Lean premixed combustion method have been studied in gas turbine combustor. Hybrid system with plasma and SCR being considered as prospective method of De-NOx has been developed. Also, low NOx technologies including common rail system, EGR and DPF in diesel engine have been investigated.

  • Noise has become an environmental pollution that affects most peoples' health, comfort or general well being. there are many sources of noise, but one of them clearly dominates road traffic noise. It has traditionally been associated with engine and exhaust noise of vehicles. However the emission and propagation of noise from these sources were partly reduced, while at the same time the noise emission from the tire/road interaction on a relative scale became more and more prominent Generally, Portland cement concrete(PCC) pavements have the advantage of durability and superior surface friction when compared to most dense-graded asphalt. However, It is known that PCC pavements create more noise than asphaltic surfaces due to the noise from interaction of tire and pavement surface. Therefore, recent research has shown some new concrete pavement textures to be worth further examination. So in this paper, we considered the 9 types of low noise concrete pavements to evaluate tire/pavement noise.

  • Petroleum coke has high heating value and low price. Due to the steadily increasing demand for heavy oil processing, the production volume of petroleum coke tends to be expanded. The high availability and low price of petroleum coke have been strongly considered as candidate fuel for power generation facilities. However the high carbon content, high sulfur content and nitrogen content of petroleum fuel are known to produce relatively large quantity of CO2, high NOx and SO2 emission. In this work, a series of numerical simulations have been carried out in order to investigate the effects of swirl flow intensity on combustion furnace, which is most important operating condition. Results show that the temperature distribution was spatially uniform at about 1600K but high temperature region are located quite differently depending on swirl number. In addition, numerical temperature data was compared with experimental temperature data and its temperature difference shows less than 10%. On the other hand, discrepancy between numerical and experimental emission data were slightly large with necessities of improved emission model.

  • By approaching the counter electrode to the CNT emitter, remarkable reduction of the cathode operating voltage has been accomplished in the under-gate CNT cathode structure. The peak emission current density of 2.5 ms/$cm^2$, which is sufficient for high brightness CNT field emission display, was obtained at the cathode-to-gate voltage of 57 V when the CNT-to-counter electrode gap was 2.2 ${\mu}m$. The gate current was less than 10 % of the anode current. The CNT cathode with low driving voltage can help the cost-effective field emission display implemented.
