파괴역학 기반 피로 수명 평가를 위한 피로 균열 진전 파라미터에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fatigue Crack Growth Parameters for Fatigue Life Assessment based on Fracture Mechanics)

  • Recent studies on the fatigue assessment of high strength steel weld based on the fracture mechanics have frequently raised the problems related to the conservatism in the fatigue crack growth rate specified in the relevant design code. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of the fatigue crack growth parameter on the fatigue life for the low carbon steel weld. In order to do it, the fatigue tests with the constant stress ratio were performed to evaluate the fatigue crack growth rate in the butt weld of SM490. And the fatigue crack growth parameters of the weld were evaluated in accordance with ASTM E647. From the comparative fatigue assessment results, it was found that the fatigue crack growth rate specified in the relevant design code was too conservative to estimate the residual fatigue life of welded structure. So, in order to get the more reliable results, it was recommended that the fatigue life estimation based on the fracture mechanics be performed with the fatigue crack growth parameter specified by test.

  • 오늘날 지구온난화, 환경오염 및 주요 에너지원인 화석연료의 고갈에 대한 우려가 높아지면서, 전세계적으로 신재생에너지 및 청정에너지에 대한 관심이 급격하게 증가하고 있다. 따라서 화석연료의 대체 및 SOX, NOX와 같은 오염물질을 적게 배출하는 청정에너지로써 LNG가 폭넓게 사용되고 있다. 그로인해 LNG의 소비는 급격하게 증가하고 있으며, 그것을 운반하기 위한 LNG선의 수요 또한 수십 년 동안 크게 증가하였다. 본 연구에서는 LNG선의 생산성을 향상시키기 위해 LNG선용 스테인리스강에 대한 용접에 고출력 파이버 레이저를 이용하였다. 사용된 재료는 탄소 함유량이 0.03% 이하의 STS316L이며 두께는 8mm이다. 최대출력 5kW의 파이버 레이저를 열원으로 사용하여 비초점거리, 겹치기 용접 그리고 맞대기 용접에 대한 실험을 진행하였다. 실험결과, 겹치기 용접의 경우 2.0m/min, 맞대기 용접의 경우 3.0m/min의 용접속도까지 접합이 가능하였다.

SM45C 탄소강의 플라즈마 침류질화 처리 시 $H_2S$, $C_3H_8$ 가스 첨가에 따른 미세조직 및 마찰계수의 변화 (Micro Structure and the Coefficient of Friction with $H_2S$ and $C_3H_8$ Gas Addition During Plasma Sulf-nitriding of SM45C Carbon Steel)

  • Friction coefficient of SM45C steel was surprisingly reduced with $H_2S$ and $C_3H_8$ gas during plasma sulf-nitriding. During the plasma sulf-nitriding, 100-700 sccm of $H_2S$ gas and 100 sccm of $C_3H_8$ gas were added and working pressure and temperature were 2 torr, $500-550^{\circ}C$, respectively. As $H_2S$ gas amount increased over 500 sccm, flake-like structures were developed on top of the nitriding layer and grain size of the nitriding layer were about 100 nm. The friction coefficient for the sample treated plasma sulf-nitriding under $N_2-H_2S$ gas was 0.4 - 0.5. The structure became more finer and amorphous-like along with $N_2-H_2S-C_3H_8$ gas and the nano-sized surface microstructures resulted in high hardness and significantly low friction coefficient of 0.2.

고장력 강재의 전기저항 용접부 열처리 특성 및 기술에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Heat Treated ERW Weld Seam and the Technology of Seam Annealing)

  • To fine seam annealer capacity of through thickness seam annealing in terms of through thickness microstructure change with increased toughness and elongation leaving heat trace on it, high strength steel pipes of ERW with different thickness were tested in different seam annealing temperature measured on the outer surface of pipes. Annealing temperature and microstructure of the weld seam were changed through applied seam annealing condition. Toughness and tensile test with hardness and microstructure analysis were done on the annealed weld seam to fine its characteristics as a primary step and annealing characteristics according to different seam annealing condition. Through a study of annealed ERW weld seam characteristics and seam annealing technology, amount of electric power should apply in decreased manner to arranged inductors of annealer in the order of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, so on for proper seam annealing. For example of 15.4mm thick and 610mm outside diameter pipe, applied power for proper seam annealing is 600 -650kw at 1st inductor, 450 - 500kw at 2nd inductor, 200-250 kw at 3rd inductor of annealer during 10 - 12M/minute moving speed of pipe. Also, the penetration depth of heat trace along the thickness direction of weld during seam annealing can be estimated through the equation 17mm/kv$\times$voltage(kv) with the microstructure and hardness analysis of thick weld seam as well as study of seam annealing and comparison of cooling condition to CCT diagram of low carbon high strength steel. From this result, the difference between the technological applicability of full annealing condition based on phase diagram and full penetration of heat trace based on CCT diagram along the thickness of weld seam is discussed.

양쪽 크랙 인장시험편을 이용한 저탄소강의 $J_{1C}$ 및 J적분 거동 ($J_{1C}$ and J-integral Behavior of Low-Carbon Steel using Double Edge Tension Specimen)

  • 본 연구에서는 양쪽크랙 인장시험편을 이용한 평면응력 파괴인성치 J 하(1C)를 검토하기 위하여, 두께 4.5mm 일반구조용 압연강판(SS41)을 균질화 및 연화처리하고 각각의 경우에 대하여 크랙비가 0.55, 0.65, 0.75인 시험편을 준비하여 J 하(1C) 및 저항곡선의 거동을 고찰하였다. 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 양쪽 크랙 인장시험편을 사용하여 J 하(1C)를 구한 값은 한계하중에 의한 방법이 Rice가 제안한 방법보다 크게 나타남을 알 수 있다. 2) Rice가 제안한 방법으로 J 하(1C)는 실험한 크랙비 범위 0.55-0.75에서 거의 일정한 값을 나타내고 저항곡선의 기울기는 크랙비에 따라 증가하였다. 3) Rice가 제안한 방법으로 [SS41의 J 하(1C)의 평균값은 모재는 22.8kgf/mm, 균질화 처리재는 24.7kgf/mm, 연화처리재는 26.9kgf/mm를 얻었다

Ti(C, N) 피막의 내마모 특성에 대한 조성의 영향 (Effects of Composition on the Wear Characteristics of Ti(C, N) Films)

  • 반응 가스 분압의 조절에 의한 HCD식 이온 도금 법으로 다양한 조성의 Ti(C, N) 경질 피막을 ASP30 공구강에 도금하였고 이 피막의 내마모성에 대한 조성의 영향을 경도, 밀착력 및 마모기구의 변화 등의 관점에서 고찰하였다. 경도는 질소나 탄소와 같은 비금속 성분량의 증가에 비례하지만 탄소함유량의 중가는 밀착력을 오히려 감소시켰다. 이 경향은 피막 밀도가 비교적 작은 정략적비 이하인 구간([C+N]/Ti<1)에서 보다 그 이상인 조성에서 영향이 뚜렷하였다. 따라서 피막의 내마모 특성은 높은 경도를 유지할 수 있는 ([C+N]/Ti>1)인 구역 내에서 밀착력 저하에 의한 adhesive 형태로의 마모 기구 변이를 억제할 수 있는 저 탄소 조성을 가질 때 최대로 된다.

실리콘 함유 DLC 박막의 마찰마모 시험에 의한 물리적 특성 및 화학적 결합 구조 변화 고찰 (A Study of a Changing of Physical and Chemical Intra-structure on Si-DLC Film during Tribological Test)

  • The silicon-containing Diamond-like Carbon (Si-DLC) film as an low friction coefficient coating has especially treated a different silicon content by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) process at $500^{\circ}C$ on nitrided-STD 11 mold steel with (TMS) gas flow rate. The effects of variable silicon content on the Si-DLC films were tested with relative humidity of 5, 30 and 85% using a ball-on-disk tribometer. The wear-tested and original surface of Si-DLC films were analysed for an understanding of physical and chemical characterization, including a changing structure, via Raman spectra and nano hardness test. The results of Raman spectra have inferred a changing intra-structure from dangling bonds. And high silicon containing DLC films have shown increasing carbon peak ratio ($I_D/I_G$) values and G-peak values. In particular, the tribological tested surface of Si-DLC was shown the increasing hardness value in proportional to TMS gas flow rate. Therefore, at same time, the structure of the Si-DLC film was changed to a different intra-structure and increased hardness film with mechanical shear force and chemical reaction.

인장시험의 실험과 해석 결과를 이용한 임계손상도의 결정 (Determination of a critical damage by experiment and analysis of tensile test)

  • A new method of evaluating critical damage values of commercial materials is presented in this paper. The method is based on the previous study of the methodology [1] of acquisition of true stress-strain curves or flow stress curves over large strain from the tensile test in which the flow stress is described by the Hollomon law-like form, that is, by the strain dependent strength coefficient and the strain hardening exponent. The strain hardening exponent is calculated from the true strain at the necking point to meet the Considere condition. The strength coefficient is assumed to be constant before necking and represented by a piecewise linear function of strain after necking. With the predicted flow stress, a tensile test is simulated by a rigid-plastic finite element method with higher accuracy of less than 0.5% error between experiments and predictions. The instant when the fracture begins and thus the critical damage is obtained is determined by observing the stress variation at the necked region. It is assumed that the fracture due to damage begins when the pattern of stress around the necked region changes radically. The method is applied to evaluate the critical damage of a low carbon steel.

금속재료의 전기화학적 갈바닉 부식에 미치는 GECM의 영향 (Influence of Graphite Epoxy Composite Material on the Electrochemical Galvanic Corrosion of Metals)

  • Non metallic composite materials, for example, GECM(graphite epoxy composite material) show high specific strength because of low density. These kinds of non metallic composite materials improved the structural effectiveness and operation economics. However, if these materials contacted several metals, corrosion can be arisen since non metallic composite materials have electrical conductivity. This paper dealt with galvanic corrosion between graphite epoxy composite material and several metals. Base on the electrochemical galvanic corrosion test between GECM and metals, corrosion current of carbon steel and aluminium increased with time but corrosion current of stainless steels and titanium decreased and galvanic potential increased. This behavior shows the galvanic corrosion depends upon the presence of passive film. Also, galvanic effect of GECM coupled with ferrous alloys and non-ferrous alloys was lower than that of 100% graphite, which is attributed to lower exposed area of graphite fiber in the GECM than apparent area of the GECM specimen used for the calculation of galvanic current in this work.

고속전철용 소결 복합재의 마찰 특성평가 (The Brake Performance of Sintered Friction Materials Developed for High Speed Trains)

  • The brake performance of sintered friction materials for the high speed train was studied. In this study, newly developed sintered materials based on copper were compared with the commercial products for high speed trains. They were tested on a 1/5 scale dynamometer using low carbon steel disks. Effectiveness, fade, and recovery tests were carried out to examine friction performance and the change of disk thickness variation (DTV) during brake applications and noise propensity were also evaluated. Results showed that the two sintered friction materials exhibit similar friction coefficients and braking performance, whereas the newly developed friction material was superior in terms of DTV generation and noise propensity to the commercial friction material. The improvement of the newly developed friction material was attributed to the high graphite content which reduced the stick-slip phenomena and prevented uneven disk wear by producing friction films on the counter disk.
