Purpose: After entering the 21st century, a new industrial revolution, i.e. industrial revolution 4.0, which is characterized by intelligence, automation and networking, has opened the curtain of the "industry 4.0" era. In recent years, "low-carbon economy" has been a development goal that has been paid close attention to and adhered to at home and abroad. As a major economic province, Shandong Province has not only brought about rapid economic growth, but also caused rapid environmental deterioration due to its high energy consumption, high dependence and high environmental pollution. In this environment, low-carbon economy has become an inevitable trend in the development of foreign trade in Shandong Province. Based on the current situation of foreign trade in Shandong Province and various existing problems, this paper explores the relationship between low-carbon economy and foreign trade in Shandong Province under this strategic background. Research design, data and methodology: By selecting the data from 2008 to 2017, using the carbon emission coefficient method to measure the CO2 emissions in the past decade, analyzing the impact of ecological factors on trade, selecting the most representative GDP and total imports for regression analysis, it is proved that they have a real impact on CO2 emissions. The total GDP is positively correlated with carbon emissions, while the total import is negatively correlated with carbon emissions. Results:This paper discusses the impact of low-carbon economy on foreign trade of Shandong Province from the perspective of foreign trade. Especially in today's "low-carbon economy" background. Conclusions:it is helpful for relevant departments to formulate relevant policies and promote the sustainable development of foreign trade in Shandong Province.

Increase in greenhouse gas emissions during the last century has led to remarkable changes in our environment and climate system. Many policy measures have been developed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the world, many of which require our lifestyle changes from energy-intensive to energy-saving. One of the changes in our living patterns is to consider food miles. A food mile is the distance food travels from where it is produced to where it is consumed. Providing information of food miles will help people choose low mileage food, helping promote a "green consumption" action and lead to a low carbon society with emission reduction systems. In this study, 10 items are selected from 23 Harmonized commodity description and 2-digit coding system (HS) to estimate their food miles, and $CO_2$ emissions released in the transportation of imported food. For the estimation, four countries are chosen-Korea, Japan, United Kingdom (UK) and France, with Korea and Japan's 2001, 2003, and 2007 trade statistics and UK and France's 2003 and 2007 trade statistics used. As a result, Korea showed in 2007 the highest level of food miles and $CO_2$ emissions per capita among 4 countries. That suggests that Korea should make an effort to purchase local food to reduce food miles and use low-carbon vehicles for food transport, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
In order to reduce NOx emissions in the 20kW class microturbine under development, the low NOx characteristics, as being an application to the lean premixed combustion technology, have been investigated. The study has been conducted at the conditions of high temperature and high pressure. Theair from a compressor with the pressure of 2.5bar, 3.0bar, 3.5bar was supplied to the combustor with the temperature 560K through the air preheat-treatment. The sampling exhaust gas was measured at the immediate exit of the combustor. For the effect of temperature on NO and CO emissions, though NOx were increased, CO was decreased with increasing inlet air temperature. With increasing inlet air pressure, NOx were increased and CO was decreased also. NOx were decreased, but CO was increased with increasing inlet air mass flow rate. The test has been performed on the equivalent ratio of 0.10 to 0.16 in the lean region. NOx were increased with increasing equivalent ratio, but CO was decreased as an influence of flame temperature. CFD work with an appropriate combustion model predicated a complicated swirling flow pattern in the combustor, and also produced a numerical value of NOx and CO emissions which was to be compared with the experimental one. As the results of this study, NOx are expected to be reduced to less than 42ppm at 15% O2 when operated at the design condition of the 20kW class microturbine.

Due to the environmental problems caused by the greenhouse effect, regulation of $CO_2$ emissions is getting stronger day by day. In paricular, regulations of automobiles $CO_2$ emissions are being strengthen. However, existing $CO_2$ measurement methods do not reflect the environment and operating conditions on actual roads. Emissions of $CO_2$ can be increased by various conditions such as environmental condition(temperature and humidity) and driver's tendency(aggressive and passive). Therefore it is necessary to reflect the conditions of various actual roads such as 5-cycle test method on behalf of the existing $CO_2$ emission measurement method. The 5-cycle measurement method has five test modes; FTP-75, HWFET, US06, SC03, Cold FTP-75. The method reflects the following three environments and operating conditions as compared to conventional method; Using heater at low temperature, Aggressive driving such as rapid acceleration or deceleration, Using air conditioner at high temperature. Because of these various conditions of each test cycle, the 5-cycle method can reflect actual environments and operating conditions. This paper attempt to analyze $CO_2$ emission characteristics based on the results measured through the 5-cycle mode and develop the correction formula that can derive the results of the 5-cycle test method using existing test methods. As a result, the developed correction formula is expected to reduce $CO_2$ emissions and cut down expense for testing 5-cycle mode.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate whether the methane (CH4) to carbon dioxide (CO2) ratio (CH4/CO2) and methane-related traits obtained by the sniffer method can be used as indicators for genetic selection of Holstein cows with lower CH4 emissions. Methods: The sniffer method was used to simultaneously measure the concentrations of CH4 and CO2 during milking in each milking box of the automatic milking system to obtain CH4/CO2. Methane-related traits, which included CH4 emissions, CH4 per energy-corrected milk, methane conversion factor (MCF), and residual CH4, were calculated. First, we investigated the impact of the model with and without body weight (BW) on the lactation stage and parity for predicting methane-related traits using a first on-farm dataset (Farm 1; 400 records for 74 Holstein cows). Second, we estimated the genetic parameters for CH4/CO2 and methane-related traits using a second on-farm dataset (Farm 2; 520 records for 182 Holstein cows). Third, we compared the repeatability and environmental effects on these traits in both farm datasets. Results: The data from Farm 1 revealed that MCF can be reliably evaluated during the lactation stage and parity, even when BW is excluded from the model. Farm 2 data revealed low heritability and moderate repeatability for CH4/CO2 (0.12 and 0.46, respectively) and MCF (0.13 and 0.38, respectively). In addition, the estimated genetic correlation of milk yield with CH4/CO2 was low (0.07) and that with MCF was moderate (-0.53). The on-farm data indicated that CH4/CO2 and MCF could be evaluated consistently during the lactation stage and parity with moderate repeatability on both farms. Conclusion: This study demonstrated the on-farm applicability of the sniffer method for selecting cows with low CH4 emissions.
Diesel low temperature combustion (LTC) is the concept where fuel is burned at a low temperature oxidation regime so that $NO_x$ and particulate matters (PM) can simultaneously be reduced. There are two ways to realize low temperature combustion in compression ignition engines. One is to supply a large amount of EGR gas combined with advanced fuel injection timing. The other is to use a moderate level of EGR with fuel injection at near TDC which is generally called Modulated kinetics (MK) method. In this study, the effects of fuel injection pressure on performance and emissions of a single cylinder engine were evaluated using the latter approach. The engine test results show that MK operations were successfully achieved over a range of with 950 to 1050 bar in injection pressure with 16% $O_2$ concentration, and $NO_x$ and PM were significantly suppressed at the same time. In addition, with an increase in fuel injection pressure, the levels of smoke, THC and CO were decreased while $NO_x$ emissions were increased. Moreover, as fuel injection timing retarded to TDC, more THC and CO emissions were generated, but smoke and $NO_x$ were decreased.

A newly designed combustion chamber of diesel engine with a modified piston crown was prepared for the purpose of investigation for reduction of NO emission. It was intended to realize 2-stage combustion that is to keep fuel rich condition during early stage of combustion and fuel lean condition during next stage. The engine was tested on various conditions concerning exhaust gas emissions especially about NO emission and simultaneously fuel consumption rate. It was found that the engine with 2-stage combustion type piston emits significantly low NO at various speed and torque compared with conventional engines, but it raised points at issue in CO and smoke emissions with fuel consumption rate. The increasing of injection pressure on 2 stage combustion type diesel engine affects on CO and smoke emission considerably to reduce but slightly on NO to increase. The effect of 2-stage combustion was better at low speed than at high speed.
This research examines the impacts of urban population growth on per capita $CO_2$ emissions with particular focus on the interaction effect between urbanization and income levels. Employing the Panel Fixed Effects model together with the Pooled LS and Panel GLS models, the research reported here analyzes the relevant data on 84 countries. The statistical results show a nonlinear(an inverted-U) relationship between urbanization and per capita $CO_2$ emissions; that is, while the urban agglomeration leads to increases in per capita $CO_2$ emissions for low income countries, this adverse impact does not hold true for high income countries. The research findings can contribute to addressing broad issues of urban compactness and patterns of energy consumption that should be considered by those concerned about the sustainable urban development.
Currently, the environmental issue is of great urgency and sensitivity to the future of our planet. Global warming caused by increased CO2 concentration has an alarming impact on the earth's fragile environment. Droughts throughout the world are causing crop failures. Wildfires now burn with far greater rage. Melting ice caps and glaciers are causing floods. Sea levels are rising. Warm unseasonable winters are threatening our fragile eco-systems. Global warming is no longer a theory; it is an obvious fact we are confronted with every day, and the only way we can prevent it is to take action now. The need to reduce CO2 emissions and try to become carbon neutral is of national importance and leadership. We have become so reliant on fossil fuels that nearly everything we do generates CO2 emissions; from our modern farming practices to transport, to the electricity used to turn on a light, boil water in a kettle or cook our meals. A reduction of 50% of CO2 emissions can easily be achieved by decreasing the energy amount used. We tracked the carbon footprint throughout the electricity and heating energy use in homes and confirmed the amount of carbon emissions according to its consumptions. In order to reduce the carbon generation from housing constructions, such as Passive House concept of buildings or low energy buildings, we must adjust its applications best fit to our conditions. And technical elements should be applied to improve our conditions, and the methodology should be actively sought. Most of all, each individual's recongnition who uses these elements is more important than any other solutions.

An experimental study was performed to compare the characteristics of the combustion pressure and exhaust emissions in the case of using pure diesel when the EGR rate was changed in a CRDI 4-cylinder diesel engine with those using biodiesel blended and pure diesel fuel. In this study, the EGR rate variation were conducted at an engine speed of 2000rpm with fuel with a biodiesel blended rate of 20%. The combustion pressure of the biodiesel blended rate 20% and pure diesel fuels decreased with increasing EGR rate. The IMEP of biodiesel was higher than that of ULSD (Ultra low sulfur diesel). The emission results showed that the NOx emission of biodiesel blended fuel with increasing EGR rate was higher than that of ULSD. In addition, the NOx emission of biodiesel blended and diesel fuel decreased with increasing EGR rate. The CO and soot, $CO_2$ emissions increased with increasing EGR rate, and the CO and soot emissions from the biodiesel blended fuel were lower than that of ULSD but the $CO_2$ emissions were higher.
