  • Purpose: We evaluated the results of treatment and clinical symptoms of 11 cases of synovial chondromatosis in the ankle joint. Material and Method: From February 2001 to May 2008, 11 cases with synovial chondromatosis involving ankle joint underwent surgical treatment. There were 5 males and 6 females. The average age at surgery was 51 years. The average follow-up period was 42 months. Duration from onset of symptom to treatment was 117 months. Chief complaints of patients, 9 cases were pain and 1 case was mass like lesion, 1 case was found on x-ray. Preoperatively, all cases were evaluated on simple x-ray, 4 cases on CT, 4 cases on MRI and 1 case on ultrasonogram. 10 cases underwent synovectomy and loose body removal. 5 cases of 10 cases underwent open synovectomy and loose body removal and arthrosocpic surgery. 4 cases of 10 cases underwent only open synovectomy and loose body removal and 1 case of 10 cases underwent only arthroscopic surgery. 1 case underwent tibiotalar arthrodesis. Results: The location of loose bodies was 7 cases on posterior and 4 cases on anterior and 4 case on lateral and 3 cases on multiple site. Postoperatively, all patients showed marked clinical improvement and had subjective satisfaction except reoperation 2 cases and arthrodesis 1 case. AOFAS score of all patients was average 82.2. Conclusion: Clinical results of the synovial chondromatosis of ankle joint were satisfactory. More accurate preoperative evaluation is required to achieve prevention of postoperative recurrence and better outcome.

  • Different from the existing works on coverage problems in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), this paper considers the exposure-path prevention problem by using the percolation theory in three dimensional (3D) WSNs, which can be implemented in intruder detecting applications. In this paper, to avoid the loose bounds of critical density, a bond percolation-based scheme is proposed to put the exposure-path problem into a 3D uniform lattice. Within this scheme, the tighter bonds of critical density for omnidirectional and directional sensor networks under random sensor deployment-a 3D Poisson process are derived. Extensive simulation results show that our scheme generates tighter bounds of critical density with no exposure path in 3D WSNs.

  • Waste landfill is so loose that it may cause the insufficient bearing capacity and the differential settlement. And so, characteristics and conditions of the ground should be considered in applications of ground improvement in waste landfill. In this paper, analysis of field tests as the static loading test and the bearing capacity test were performed. In result, PG(Pack Grouting) pile method is proved effective and economic, because it could bring about the increase of end bearing capacity, the prevention of differential settlement and increase of density by expansion of pile.

  • Waste landfill consists of cover layer, glass, robber, sheet, food waste, etc and is in very loose state. So, the proper method must be applied to ground improvement of waste landfill according to its characteristics and conditions. In this paper, analysis for field tests as static loading test, bearing capacity test were peformed. In result, PG pile method proved to be effective and economic, because it affected increase of end bearing capacity, the prevention of differential settlement and over 20% increase of density by expansion of pile.

  • As residual ridge resorption occurs, complete dentures tend to become loose. Denture relining and rebasing are an essential element for improving a denture's stability and prevention side effect such as sore spot, epulis fissuratum. This paper focuses about health insurance is available for maintenance of complete denture and, methods of relining or rebasing.

  • It is considered that vermiculite as an inorganic material is highly effective when it is used as a building finishing material because it is eco-friendly. Vermiculite has excellent properties such as fire resistance, heat insulation, sound absorption as well as prevention of condensation, deodorization and aesthetics. In this study, we developed a finishing board with vermiculite as its main material and mixed with mineral loose wool (VB-L) or mineral powder (VB-P), and conducted fireproof test and insulation test. In addition, fire resistance tests were carried out by applying the two developed vermiculite boards as finishing materials for the standard wall details of light frame wood structures (KS F 1611-1). As a result of the fire resistance test, the VB-L specimen showed better fire resistance than the VB-P specimen. Both vermiculite boards showed sufficient fire resistance performance of 2 hours for a thickness of 30 mm.

  • In this paper, we perform a ANSYS simulation of assembly structure composed of three parts, bolt, nut, and coil spring, under the loading of a screw torque 640~800 ($N{\cdot}m$) derived from the given bolt tensile strength 10.9, which allows us to investigate a lock-nut mechanism for the prevention of bolt-loosening after three parts are fastened. And also we investigate the safety factor of each component with effective stress distribution obtained from the simulation, which enables us to estimate the structural safety of a new lock-nut structure. Both simulation and investigation shown in this paper will contribute to the development of a new lock nut structure.
