Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of assistive products usage on activity of daily living for the beneficiary older adults people in Korean long-term care insurance system. The study subjects were divided to assistive products users and non-users among the beneficiary older adults based on Korean long-term care insurance system to compare function improvement of the activity of daily living. Methods : In national wide 12 community elderly care center enrolled the National Health Insurance Corporation, The numbers of 281 beneficiary older adults(long-term care Grade I: 66, Grade II: 58, Grade III: 157) participated in this study. This survey assessment tool for activity of daily living was used the long-term care assessment instrument of the physical functions in the law of Korean long-term care insurance. The function items of Activity of daily living were included in clothing, washing, tooth brushing, bathing, eating, posture converting, stand sitting, move sitting, out of room, using toilet, controlling of stool, controlling of urine, washing hair. According to independence to complete dependence functioning level, remarks pointed 1 to 3 points. The data were analyzed by chi-square, two-way anova using SPSS V. 12.0. Results : The results appeared that the mean score of the functions in activity of daily living of assistive products users was a 27.60, and that of non-users was a 30.66. Assistive products were not effected in Grade I and II recipients, but that effected in Grade III recipients. Conclusion : Preparing for activation of assistive products based Korean long-term care insurance system, the result application as follows is possible. The usage of assistive products could improve the function of daily living activity in older adults. Related to Grade III beneficiary elderly people were improved function in activity of daily living by using assistive products, it is necessary to extend coverage the non-eligible elderly people in Korean long-term care insurance system.

The study also aims at identifying design implications that can be incorporated into design process and design decisions to improve wayfinding abilities for people with dementia. Methods : Comprehensive literature review has been conducted to identify empirical studies and carefully investigated peer-reviewed articles published in many different fields including architecture, psychology, nursing to gerontology. Results : The review found a growing body of studies that identified environment-related factors that improve wayfinding of people with Dementia living in long-term care facilities. Implications : The findings of the review can be considered as design guidelines to support the wayfinding abilities of people with dementia living in long-term care Facilities.

Another objective of this study is to identify design implications that can be incorporated into design process and decisions to positively improve wandering abilities for people with dementia. Methods: Comprehensive literature review has been performed to investigate empirical studies and peer-reviewed articles published in many different fields including psychology, architecture, nursing to gerontology. Results: The review found studies that identified environment-related factors, affecting wandering for people with Dementia living in Long-term Care Facilities. Implications: The findings can help us understand wandering behavior and the recommendations in this research can serve as parts of considerations in practice that can help efficiently manage wandering abilities of people with dementia living in Long-term Care Facilities. Further studies with larger samples and various environmental conditions are required to confirm the findings in this study.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the preferences for urban residence. Data was collected from the people who are working in the CBD area. The results of this study are as following; 1) The 40.3% of people working in CBD area prefer living in the CBD area. It contains 5.6% of people who are working in the CBD area. It can be interpreted that there are some potential residential preference in the CBA area. 2) People who prefer living in the CBD area are shown that they have been working in the CBD area for a long time with their living status of the middle class and their ages over 50. 3) The favorable area for CBD workers is located within 10 minutes by bus or within working distance. 4) Their favorable housing types are respectively apartments, mixed, and single housing. It means that they prefer the mixed functioning type of housing to the apartment. It tells that it is necessary to develop the new types of housing.
본 연구의 목적은 노인요양시설 거주 노인과 비거주 노인의 구강건강상태를 비교하는 것이었다. 연령, 성별, 기초생활수급상태가 동일한 469명을 매칭하여 구강건강상태를 비교분석하였다. 노인요양시설 거주 노인들은 시설 비거주 노인보다 치아우식 우병률(p=0.019), 우식영구치수(p=0.001), 상실영구치수(p=0.047)가 더 높았고 충전영구치수(p<0.001)는 더 낮은 것으로 확인되었다. 시설 거주 노인들은 비거주 노인들보다 치아우식에 유병될 확률이 1.93배 더 높았고, 충전치아를 가지게 될 확률은 0.73배였다. 의치를 장착하게 될 확률은 상악이 0.15배, 하악이 0.13배였으며, 의치필요도는 상악이 5.61배, 하악이 5.65배였다. 의치 장착여부 및 필요도에 대한 보정된 오즈비는 모두 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 노인요양시설 거주 노인의 구강건강증진을 위한 구강보건정책 수립을 위한 근거 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.
The aims of this study are to contribute to efficient revenue management by analysis of the scale in elderly long-term care facilities. The data was used for input of the elderly long-term care costs Scale, and calculated the staffing standards and social welfare facilities workers with living wage guidelines in the Department of Health and Human Services. Revenue efficiency is the highest order of size are as follows. I8(98 people) \43,517,010, H6(86 people) \36,568,332, G8(78 people) \29,426,532, F8(68 people) \23,227,532, E8(58 people) \19,701,254, D8(48 people) \19,155,187, C6( 36) \14,389,109, B8(28 people) \9,920,031, A8(18 people) \3,721,031. It seems that its revenue efficiency even higher than the larger the scale. Meanwhile, The researchers focused on C6 (36 patients) model. Suggestion of this study are following; First, the arrangement can be provided based on needs of the elderly care facility staffing standards. Secondly, an elderly care facility selected wage guidelines. Thirdly, the elderly efficiency guidelines established by the size of a nursing facility. This study and other financial income factor are not the applicable limits.
The purpose of this study was to assess the biochemical nutritional status of the long-lived elderly. The subjects of the study were 148 elderly people of age over 85 years living in Kyungpook Sung-Ju area who have no problem in daily living. The anthropometric measurement and biochemical assessment of the blood sample were carried out. The subject group for this study was composed of 25.9% males and 74.1% females, the average age being 87 years old. The mean Body Mass Index(BMI) of the male and female subjects were 20.7 and 21.2 respectively. The average body fat amounts of the male and female were 21.4% and 29.8% respectively, and the average waist/hip ratios were 0.9 and 0.7 respectively. The mean levels of the total blood protein and albumin of the subjects were in the normal ranges. The mean levels of serum cholesterol and triglyceride were 167.9mg /dL and 123.9mg/dL respectively. The mean levels of the subjects below normal range of hemoglobin were 63.5%. Serum levels of antioxidant nutrients were very poor. The mean levels of serum lipid peroxidation products were 3.3nmol/mL. BMI and WHR were positively correlated with the serum cholesterol levels. The resuts showed that the long-lived elderly had good nutritional status except for antioxidant nutrients status. In addition antioxidant supplement for long-lived elderly may be effective to maintain healthy life in later years.

Methods: Comprehensive literature review has been conducted to identify empirical studies and that link the design of dementia care facilities to health- and QOL-related outcomes and scrutinized peer-reviewed articles published in many different fields including architecture, psychology, to nursing. Results: The review identified a growing body of literature that articulates environment-related factors that improve health and quality of life for people with dementia living long-term care facilities Implications: The findings of the review can be translated to design decisions to promote psychological and behavioral health and quality of life of people with dementia in long-term care facilities.
In view of the results that we studied about living and eating habit of korean old people who live in longevity village, we can make conclusion as follows. 1. They have regular rising time, bedtime and living routine. Their bedtime is between 9 to 11 and rising time is before 6. It goes to show that they are keeping regular hours. 2. Generally speaking, most of long life peoples are physical labor: agriculture, fishery, housework, etc. 3. They are in balance with their eating habit. The most favorite food of longevity village's old people is made from toenjang which is fermented soybean paste. 4. The geographical features of longevity village are mountain region, coast and island. 5. Most of people who live long are illiteracy and only a few people of them has finished elementary school course. Moreover, in case of illiteracy, there are more unschooled woman compare with both sexes.

Background and objective: The elderly living in homeless living facilities for a long time suffer from various mental health problems. This study aims to determine the psychological, emotional, and social effects of a horticultural therapy program composed of gardening activities, which was designed based on the semantic structures of life for the homeless elderly living in the facilities for a long time. Methods: A total of 12 subjects (6 in the control group and 6 in the experimental group) participated in the study. The horticultural therapy program consisted mainly of gardening activities, and a total of 16 sessions were conducted once a week for 16 weeks, 60-90 minutes per session. The subjects were tested to evaluate their self-esteem, depression, and horticultural activities. The data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon rank test, and Friedman test, which were nonparametric tests, conducted at a 95% significance level. Results: First, in the case of self-esteem, a significant difference was found between the groups, 20.00 points (SD = 5.69) in the control group, and 25.50 points (SD = 3.73) in the experimental group (p = .034). Second, in the case of depression, no statistically significant difference was found in the posttest. Finally, in the case of the horticultural activity evaluation, the scores of most variables gradually and significantly increased during the program [Verbal interaction during activity (p = .006), Self-concept and identity (p = .006), Need-drive adaptation (p < .001), Interpersonal and social relations (p < .001)]. Conclusion: These results support that the horticultural therapy program could help the elderly improve psychological relaxation, emotional stability, and social relationships. In order to generalize the results, it is suggested to increase the number of subjects or conduct additional repetitive experiments in further research.
