  • In Korea, in the process of transition from a rural society to an industrial society, the opportunities for women's economic participation increased relatively. As a result, the marriage age of women increased, and it was recognized that the economic opportunity cost of married women and their participation in economic activities lead to low birthrates. In particular, it is time for an empirical analysis to determine whether workplace types affect the fertility rate. To this end, we analyzed the effect of workplace type on fertility using the labor panel data from 2003 to 2018. The results are as follows. A statistically significant negative relationship was drawn when unemployed women were compared with women employed in the private sector. However, there was no statistically significant effect when comparing unemployed women with women working in the public sector.

  • Dairy processing experience tourism, that combines production, processing, and services, can be a good alternative to increase added value in Mongolian livestock industry. In addition, in order to successfully pursue this, it is necessary to first identify consumers' potential demand for the experience tourism and the factors affecting demand. Accordingly, this study estimated consumers' potential demand for dairy processing experience tourism using data from 758 people obtained through an online survey targeting Ulaanbaatar residents. As a result of the estimation, it was found that the variables that affect potential demand are the experience fees, average monthly household income, gender, age, arol consumption, and education level. The potential demand for dairy processing experience tourism was measured by multiplying the population of Ulaanbaatar by the estimated probability of accepting the experience tourism, and the total revenue was maximum at 32.303 million Tuk when the experience fee was 50,000 Tuk. The implications based on the analysis results are that, in order to promote participation in the experience tourism, it is necessary to promote it primarily to people with high average monthly household income, high level of education, younger age groups, and male. It can be said that preference is high and sufficient potential demand exists, but it is suggested that appropriate setting of experience fees is important.

  • Purpose: This study explores the impact of discrimination experience on stress levels among Seoul's public housing complex residents, emphasizing the moderating role of social capital. Research design, data and methodology: Utilizing the 2019 Seoul public housing (PH) panel data and an ordered logit model, the research categorizes residents based on personal and environmental factors, contrasting them across different local housing price levels. Results: We find that public housing residents' experience of discrimination has a significant impact on stress, and local housing prices are positively related to stress. Interestingly, stress due to discrimination is more pronounced in high-priced neighborhoods, which are associated with real estate inequality. Conversely, this impact is less pronounced in lower-priced neighborhoods. Importantly, social capital not only has a significant moderating effect on stress for all residents, but in high-priced neighborhoods, it also moderates the stress caused by experiences of discrimination for social housing residents. Conclusions: These findings highlight the need for policy interventions to strengthen social capital and address socioeconomic disparities in public housing, and are significant for analyzing the nuanced relationship between neighborhood, housing affordability, discrimination, and stress in urban communities for public housing residents, which is a socially problematic issue.

  • Like always selecting anything in everyday lives, We must choose a travel mode to achieve its purposes driven by diverse factors such as travel distance and accessibility of public transit. Assuming that they are differentiated depending on whether a travel purpose is commuting, shopping or leasure, the study investigated their distinguished impacts on travel mode choice by using binary logit models by travel purpose and mode. Identifying that travel time has an important role in choosing a travel mode whether its purpose is any, the results show that longer travel time tends to increase the possibilities of taking public transit, transfer and rail transit rather than bus. In addition, the easy use of a car and its parking to travelers is more important in their choosing an automobile as a travel mode than other factors. In the models of identifying the probability of mode choice between bus and rail transit, we find that its choice tends to be decided by travelers depending on whether any public transit mode is more accessible to them. When comparing the results among travel purposes, we identify that the easy use of a car and parking in their destination is more important for commuting, while accessibility of public transit in their origination increases the probability of taking a transit mode.

  • Objective : Study purpose is to inspect not only the utility of Evaluation of Social Interaction(ESI) but also the efficiency of occupational therapy measurement in program based local community of solitary senior citizen in G region. Methods : Six solitary senior citizen in G region were participating in a community-based program were a convenience sample for this study. The Occupational Therapy Intervention Process Model (OTIPM) provided the theoretical framework. The ESI provided a pre-test performance measure and also served as a guide for an five-week occupational therapy intervention program, and as a post-test to measure intervention effectiveness. Results : This study showed that the ESI was effective in guiding therapist Intervention related to social skill performance of participants during their participation in a community-based program. As a group, the difference between pre and post ESI logit measures was also significant(t=-7.362, p=0.001). Conclusion : The study provides initial considerations for the utility of the ESI to guide intervention related to social skill performance during daily occupations in Korea. It further documents the effectiveness of the ESI in measuring occupational therapy intervention, based on OTIPM, and supports occupational therapy services provided in a community based program context for those solitary senior citizen.

  • Intellectual Property(IP) investment and its management are an key driver to create corporate value and intangible asset value through corporate's competitiveness. The purposes of this study are to survey capability of IP management and assess the effects of IP investment and its management on the separation into groups of intangible asset value. In order to attain those purposes of this study, sample companies were taken and categorized into three groups by the level of intangible asset value ratio, and data for IP investment such as R&D expenditure and advertising expenditure were collected from 90 manufacturing companies, and data for IP management capability about patent, design and brand were taken through survey. The final results showed as followed: First, IP management capability were generally not sufficient in the results of survey. Second, mean vector for the four variables were significantly different among three groups in multivariate analysis variance. Third, the order of their contribution to separating the groups were R&D expenditure, advertising expenditure, patent management, management of design and brand in canonical variate analysis. Fourth, R&D and patent management capability were significantly related to the separation of three groups, while advertising expenditure were not significant and management of design and brand were not sure of Significance in multinomial logit discriminant analysis. Fifth, exploratory power of the discriminant model were estimated by 53% in classification analysis. Finally, strategic policy for IP investment and its management should be taken urgently to create intangible asset value and to improve the capability of its management.

  • Record-keeping is one of the most fundamental practices in good farm management as it shows a systemic managerial and analytic data essential for a successful farm operation. Despite such obvious benefits in record-keeping, however, today`s farmers do not take advantage of this practice for various reasons. To make the matter worse, not much research has been done to resolve this incompatibility. Therefore, it is urgent for both the government and the farmers to come up with a better method or book of record-keeping that will show the farmers where their operation has been in the past, where it is now, and where it is heading in the future. This study will survey and analyze the current status of record-keeping practice among farmers using statistic models such as logit and ordered probit model. The results showed that the majority of the farmers lack knowledge about management record. Also, appropriate record-keeping books and related education were not available. Therefore, the government should develop and provide farmers with record-keeping books that are easy to use and at the same time giving proper education about agricultural management skills. Finally, this study suggests some improvement plans about agricultural record-keeping based on the results drawn.

  • This paper estimates the health life expectancies for Korean people based on a sample cohort database collected through objective measurements by the National Health Insurance Service. Health life expectancy is estimated using the single-state approach of Sullivan (1971). The 9-order correction factor method of Greville (1945) and Brass-logit model of Brass (1971) are also adopted for unobserved or incompletely observed age-specific morbidity and mortality. Based on the mortality and morbidity estimated from sample cohort DB, men and women in Korea are expected to live a 'healthy life' for 61 and 60 years in 2013, respectively, whereas life expectancies of men and women are 80 and 87, respectively. We also estimate certain disease-free life expectancies for each of genders, income levels, and types of insurance from 2003 to 2013 in Korea. We found that there exists an inequality of healthy life expectancy in Korea for different genders, income levels, and types of insurance.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the existence of starting point bias in the bidding game contingent valuation elicitation technique when determining willingness to pay (WTP) for improving the qualify of running water in Seoul and its vicinity. Of all existing contingent techniques, the bidding game most closely mimics the normal price taking behavior in local markets. Three different starting points (low, medium and high) were used to determine WTP and the existence of starting point bias in the meanwhile respectively. The respondents were randomly assigned to the three different starting point groups in order to ensure homogeneity, so that any variation seen in WTP could be attributed to the starting point effects. And a pretested interviewer-administered questionnaire used to elicit WTP. Non-parametric test and the logit model were used to analyze the data for evidence of starting point bias. In this instance, the high starting point group had a high WTP, and low starting point group had a low WTP. This means there exist starting point bias in estimating WTP by bidding game in this instance. This finding might signal that people may actually be making up their minds on the maximum amount they are willing to pay for running water service as a bidding iterating is going on and is influenced by the starting point used in the bidding game. The problem of slaking point bias can be avoided if the respondent is asked directly for the maximum WTP without payment cards or a bidding game. But such a question is perceived as being very difficult to answer and this leads to problems of non-response and being unrealistic.
