  • The success of road transportation, in dominating the surface movement of freight, is now threatened by increased traffic congestion, falling average motorway speed and rising in logistics costs, oil price. Due to the necessity for an effective transport system, we need to improve domestic transport infrastructure to reduce logistics cost by shifting to rail system. To analysis the demand characteristics in advance against these hypothetical circumstances, Stated Preference, which is called SP, approaches have been adopted to analysis the shipper's mode choice behaviors as RP(Revealed Preference) approaches are not appropriate. The results also indicate that the most effective policy to divert the freight volume from road to railway is to reduce freight rates for the railway with improved reliability.

  • Companies are reluctant to disclose information because of trade secret and corporate identity For the same reasons, logistics companies do not want to operate in the form of a community In urban areas, the loading of vehicles is 100% as the quantity of goods transported is too much. In mountain areas, however, the load condition of the vehicle is not 100% because of the low quantity of goods transported Therefore, the transportation costs will increase as the cost of transport increase, the competitiveness of firms will also decline In this paper, we studied a simulation to measure driving time and volume of cargo according to the change of the quantity of goods transported in the mountain area According to the research results, we got a conclusion that the proposed method makes the operation time be less and the volume of cargo increase compared with the existing operation method.

  • Great effort has been exerted to redesign the supply chain network as a means to improve corporate competitiveness. In this study, we present a mathematical model and a solution system to help redesign corporate logistics networks. The objective of the model is to minimize total logistics costs. We applied the solution system to real problem cases. We use the model and the concept to develop decision support system that is based on C++ with the use of CPLEX callable library as a solution engine. We tested and verified the DSS for redesigning the network of a large Korean electronics company. Through various scenario analyses. we recommend to redesign their supply chain network that demonstrates the possibility of substantial logistics cost savings.

  • Shipping companies consider most of the ship turnaround time as a critical factor when selecting a rolling port for reducing costs. So, many researchers have been studying for the optimization of preplanning and high~performance of the Gantry Cranes (GCs) in container terminals for faster loading and unloading. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) based RTLS (Real-Time Location System) for reducing the ship turnaround time in ubiquitous port environment. In addition, pre-planning based on ubiquitous computing environment will support the GC and Yard Tractors (YTs), and reduce ship turnaround time more effectively. Especially, the proposed method enormously enhances the productivity of loading for the twin-lift system It will reduce the whole lead-time in the process of port logistics.

  • The field of vehicle routing is currently growing rapidly because of many actual applications in truckload and less than truckload trucking, courier services, door to door services, and many other problems that generally hinder the optimization of transportation costs in a logistics network. The rapidly increasing number of customers in such a network has caused problems such as difficulty in cost optimization in terms of getting a global optimum solution in an acceptable time. Fast algorithms are needed to find sufficient solutions in a limited time that can be used for real time scheduling. In this paper, the nearest L-method (NLNM) is proposed to obtain a vehicle routing solution. String neighbors of different lengths were chosen, tested and compared. The applied de crossing procedure is meant to solve the routes by NLNM by giving a better solution and shorter computation time than that of NLNM with long string neighbors.

  • Nowadays, the advanced technology of wireless communication technology has been studied using the tax system. Wireless communications technology logistics management, inventory management, are widely used in the field of port management. Especially, RFID technology, import and export business of logistics costs in the distribution has been hailed as the technology to do. In this paper, logistics information system components, RFID technology is one of the proposed algorithm using the intelligent customs management. Moreover, in this paper, goods purchased from abroad, using the phone anywhere at any time simply to calculate the tariff proposed simulation.

  • The study is devoted to the formation of a economic principles cargo delivery management in global supply chains. Mathematical model of delivering special categories of goods by road is a key element of these principles. The article analyzes the existing studies on solving the problem of cargo delivery in various aspects. It was noted that the greatest attention is paid to legal regulation, last mile delivery, optimization of routes and delivery schemes, information support, technological innovations, cluster routing, etc. In the developed mathematical model a minimum of total costs of forming loading units and freight shipments was defined as the criterion of optimality of organizing delivery by motor transport. The authors propose the creation of logistics clusters allowing the integration of urban transport flows and global supply chains.

  • Companies' efforts to find ways to reduce logistics costs for products and raw materials currently being brought in to produce products in all manufacturing processes are one of the biggest challenges, and the recent global recession has made logistics management even more important. This development technology limits the development of IN/OUT Bound truck logistics and dock management optimization system in the factory, especially by using UHF 900Mhz RFID radio frequency technology.

  • Currently, issues related to freight at Vietnamese logistics companies are becoming more and more urgent because of typical problems in Vietnam such as traffic, infrastructure, and application of information technology. This problem has been studied by applying many different approaches such as Integer Programming (LP), Mixed Integer Programming (MIP), hybrid, meta search, … In this paper, we applied the ILP model in order to deal with the VRP problem in a small size logistics company which is very popular in Vietnam. The experiments showed promising results with some optimal solutions with some small extra costs.

  • Due to the exhaustion of resources and increasing concerns about the environment, reverse logistics has become a critical issue in recent years. We discuss the conventional logistics operations and the reverse logistics operations in the automotive industry. The traditional supply chain (TSC) and the reverse supply chain (RSC) models are developed to compare performance between two systems. In addition, results of the simulation models are discussed in respect to total costs, inventory levels and stock-outs to analyze the effects of introducing of reverse logistics system.
