Variable Selection for Logistic Regression Model Using Adjusted Coefficients of Determination (수정 결정계수를 사용한 로지스틱 회귀모형에서의 변수선택법)

  • Coefficients of determination in logistic regression analysis are defined as various statistics, and their values are relatively smaller than those for linear regression model. These coefficients of determination are not generally used to evaluate and diagnose logistic regression model. Liao and McGee (2003) proposed two adjusted coefficients of determination which are robust at the addition of inappropriate predictors and the variation of sample size. In this work, these adjusted coefficients of determination are applied to variable selection method for logistic regression model and compared with results of other methods such as the forward selection, backward elimination, stepwise selection, and AIC statistic.

  • Graphical paradigms for assessing the adequacy of models in logistic regression are discussed. The residual plot has been widely used as a graphical tool for evaluating the adequacy of the model. However, this approach works well only for linear models with constant variance, and the alternative approach, the marginal model plot, has its defects as well. We suggest a Chi-residual plot that overcomes the potential shortcomings of the marginal model plot.

  • In this study, reliability software cost model considering shape parameter based on life distribution from the process of software product testing was studied. The shape parameter using the Erlang and Log-logistic model that is widely used in the field of reliability problems presented. The software failure model was used finite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process model, the parameters estimation using maximum likelihood estimation was conducted. In comparison result of software cost model based on the Erlang distribution and the log-logistic distribution software cost model, because Erlang model is to predict the optimal release time can be software, but the log-logistic model to predict to optimal release time can not be, Erlang distribution than the log-logistic distribution appears to be effective. In this research, software developers to identify software development cost some extent be able to help is considered.

  • Graphical regression is a paradigm for obtaining regression information using plots without model assumptions. The general goal of this approach is to find lowdimensional sufficient summary plots without loss of important information. Model assessments using residual plots are less likely to be successful in models that are not linear. As an alternative approach, marginal model plots provide a general graphical method for assessing the model. We apply the methods of graphical regression and model assessment using marginal model plots to the logistic regression model.

  • The suppression for logistic regression models has been debated no longer than that for linear regression models since, among many other reasons, sum of squares for regression (SSR) or coefficient of determination ($R^2$) could be defined into various ways. Based on four kinds of $R^2$'s: two kinds are most preferred, and the other two are proposed by Liao & McGee (2003), four kinds of SSR's are derived so that the suppression for logistic models is explained. Many data fitted to logistic models are generated by Monte Carlo method. We explore when suppression happens, and compare with that for linear regression models.

  • The paradigm of economy has been transformed into knowledge based economic paradigm in 21th century. Analysis of patent trend is one of the strategic methods for increasing their patent competitive power. However, this method is just presenting statistical data about patent trend or qualitative analysis about some core technology. In this paper, we forecast technology diffusion using patent information for more progressive analysis. We make an experiment with bass model and logistic model and make use of patent data about information-security technology for NCW as input data. We conclude that the logistic model is more efficient for forecasting and this technology is approaching to the age of technology maturity.

  • Under bivariate normal distribution assumptions, the interaction and quadratic terms are needed in the logistic regression model with two predictors. However, depending on the correlation coefficient and the variances of two conditional distributions, the interaction and quadratic terms may not be necessary. Although the need for these terms can be determined by comparing the two scatter plots, it is not as useful for interaction terms. We explore the structure and usefulness of the 3-D residual plot as a tool for dealing with interaction in logistic regression models. If predictors have an interaction effect, a 3-D residual plot can show the effect. This is illustrated by simulated and real data.

  • In this study, we analyze the effect on the smoking status in the Seoul Metropolitan area using a multilevel logistic model with Community Health Survey data from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), profiling analysis and two types of predicted value were used to determine the appropriate multilevel analysis level. Sensitivity, specificity, percentage of correctly classified observations (PCC) and ROC curve evaluated model performance. We showed the applicability for multilevel analysis allowed for the possibility that different factors contribute to within group and between group variability using survey data.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and compare the prediction model for suicide attempts by Korean adolescents using logistic regression and decision tree analysis. Methods: This study utilized secondary data drawn from the 2019 Youth Health Risk Behavior web-based survey. A total of 20 items were selected as the explanatory variables (5 of sociodemographic characteristics, 10 of health-related behaviors, and 5 of psychosocial characteristics). For data analysis, descriptive statistics and logistic regression with complex samples and decision tree analysis were performed using IBM SPSS ver. 25.0 and Stata ver. 16.0. Results: A total of 1,731 participants (3.0%) out of 57,303 responded that they had attempted suicide. The most significant predictors of suicide attempts as determined using the logistic regression model were experience of sadness and hopelessness, substance abuse, and violent victimization. Girls who have experience of sadness and hopelessness, and experience of substance abuse have been identified as the most vulnerable group in suicide attempts in the decision tree model. Conclusion: Experiences of sadness and hopelessness, experiences of substance abuse, and experiences of violent victimization are the common major predictors of suicide attempts in both logistic regression and decision tree models, and the predict rates of both models were similar. We suggest to provide programs considering combination of high-risk predictors for adolescents to prevent suicide attempt.

  • The method of predicting the future may be predicted by technical characteristics or technical performance. Therefore, technology prediction is used in the field of strategic research that can produce economic and social benefits. In this study, we predicted the future market through the study of how to predict the future with these technical characteristics. The future prediction method was studied through the prediction of the time when the market occupied according to the demand of special product. For forecasting market demand, we proposed the future forecasting model through comparison of representative quantitative analysis methods such as CAGR model, BASS model, Logistic model and Gompertz Growth Curve. This study combines Rogers' theory of innovation diffusion to predict when products will spread to the market. As a result of the research, we developed a methodology to predict when a particular product will mature in the future market through the spread of various factors for the special product to occupy the market. However, there are limitations in reducing errors in expert judgment to predict the market.
