  • We propose a logic synthesis algorithm for the design of FPGAs operating at high speed. FPGA is a novel technology that provides programmability in the field. Because of short turnaround time and low manufacturing cost, FPGA has been noticed as an ideal device for system prototyping. Despite these merits, FPGA has drawbacks, namely low integration and long delay time comparing to ASIC. The proposed algorithm partitions a given circuit into subcircuits utilizing a kernel divisor such that the subcircuits can be performed at the same time, hence reducing the delay of the circuit. Experimental results on the MCNC benchmark show that the proposed algorithm is effective by generating circuits having 19.1% les delay on average, when compared to the FlowMap algorithm.

  • In this paper, an intelligent resynthesis technique for timing optimization at the architecture-level has been studied. The proposed technique can remedy the problem which may occur in combinational timing optimization techniques applied to circuits which have the hierarchical subblock structure at the architectural-level. The approach first tries to maintain the original hierarchical subblock while minimizing the longest delay of whole circuit. This paper tries to find a new approach to timing optimization for circuits which have hierarchical structure at architectural-level, and has verified its effectiveness experimentally. We claim its usefulness from the fact that most designers design the circuits hierarchically due to the increase of design complexity.

  • In this paper, we proposed an adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control for nonlinear systems without parameter projection method. By modifying the controller structure, the parameters of the estimated input gain function are guaranteed not being identically zero and it is shown that the control scheme will not cause any implementation problem even if the estimated value of input gain function is zero at any moment during on-line operations. Except for the input gain function which an approximate estimate for its lower bound is needed, the proposed control scheme does not assume a priori the exact values of the bounding parameters. Based on Lyapunov synthesis methods, the overall control system guarantees that the tracking error asymptotically converges to zero and that all signals involved in controller are uniformly bounded. This can be illustrated by the simulation results for an inverted pendulum system.

  • In this paper, we propose a new technology mapping algorithm for CPLD consider area under time constraint. This algorithm detect feedbacks from boolean networks, then variables that have feedback are replaced to temporary variables. Creating the temporary variables transform sequential circuit to combinational circuit. The transformed circuits are represented to DAG. After traversing all nodes in DAG, the nodes that have output edges more than two are replicated and reconstructed to fanout free tree. Using time constraints and delay time of device, the number of graph partitionable multi-level is decided. Several nodes in partitioned clusters are merged by collapsing, and are fitted to the number of OR-terms in a given CLB by bin packing. Proposed algorithm have been applied to MCNC logic synthesis benchmark circuits, and have reduced the number of CLBs by $62.2\%$ than those of DDMAP. And reduced the number of CLBs by $17.6\%$ than those of TEMPLA.

  • This paper presents the architecture and design of a high speed asymmetric data transmission baseband MODEM ASIC chip for CATV networks. The implemented MODEM chip supports the physical layer of the DOCSIS(Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) standard in MCNS(Multimedia Cable Network System) The chip consists of a QPSK/16-QAM transmitter and a 64/256-QAM receiver which contain a symbol timing recovery circuit, a carrier recovery circuit, a blind equalizer using MMA and LMS algorithms. The chip can support data rates of 64Mbps at 256 QAM and 48Mbps at 64-QAM and can provide symbol rates up to 8MBaud. This symbol rate is faster than existing QAM receivers. We have performed logic synthesis using the $0.35\mu\textrm{m}$ standard cell library. The total number of gates is about 290,000 and the implemented chip is being fabricated and will be delivered soon.

  • This paper proposes the hardware architecture of high performance multi-mode 2D forward transform for HEVC which has same number of cycles for processing any type of four TUs and yield high throughput. In order to make the original image which has high pixel and high resolution into highly compressed image effectively, the transform technique of HEVC supports 4 kinds of pixel units, TUs and it finds the optimal mode after performs each transform computation. As the proposed transform engine uses the common computation operator which is produced by analyzing the relationship among transform matrix coefficients, it can process every 4 kinds of TU mode matrix operation with 35cycles equally. The proposed transform block was designed by Verilog HDL and synthesized by using TSMC 0.18um CMOS processing technology. From the results of logic synthesis, the maximum operating frequency was 400MHz and total gate count was 214k gates which has the throughput of 10-Gpels/cycle with the $4k(3840{\times}2160)@30fps$ image.

  • The paper proposes the design of AES-based encryption chip for IoT security. ROM based S-Box implementation occurs a number of memory space and some delay problems for its access. In this approach, S-Box is designed by pipeline structure on composite field GF((22)2) to get faster calculation results. In addition, in order to achieve both higher throughput and less delay, shared S-Box are used in each round transformation and the key scheduling process. The proposed AES crypto-processor is described in Veilog-HDL, and Xilinx ISE 14.7 tool is used for logic synthesis by using Xilinx XC6VLX75T FPGA. In order to perform the verification of the crypto-processor, the timing simulator(ModelSim 10.3) is also used.

  • The concept of information entropy has been widely applied in various fields. Recently, in the field of image processing, many technologies applying the concept of information entropy have been developed. As the importance and demand of computer vision technologies increase in modern industry, real-time processing must be possible in order for image processing technologies to be efficiently applied to modern industries. Extracting the entropy value of an image is difficult to process in real-time due to the complexity of computation in software, and a hardware structure of an image entropy filter capable of real-time processing has never been proposed. In this paper, we propose for the first time a hardware structure of a histogram-based entropy filter that can be processed in real time using a barrel shifter. The proposed hardware was designed using Verilog HDL, and Xilinx's xczu7ev-2ffvc1156 was set as the target device and FPGA was implemented. As a result of logic synthesis using the Xilinx Vivado program, it has a maximum operating frequency of 750.751 MHz in a 4K UHD high-resolution environment, and it processes more than 30 images per second and satisfies the real-time processing standard.

  • In this paper, the design of lightweight S-Box structure for implementing a low power AES cryptosystem based on composite field. In this approach, the S-Box is designed as a simple structure by which the three modules of x2, λ, and GF((22)2) merge into one module for improving the usable area and processing speed on GF(((22)2)2). The designed AES S-Box is modelled in Veilog-HDL at structural level, and a logic synthesis is also performed through the use of Xilinx ISE 14.7 tool, where Spartan 3s1500l is used as a target FPGA device. It is shown that the designed S-Box is correctly operated through simulation result, where ModelSim 10.3. is used for performing timing simulation.

  • Recently, image processing technology for autonomous driving by recognizing objects and lanes through camera images to realize autonomous vehicles is being studied. Haze reduces the visibility of images captured by the camera and causes malfunctions of autonomous vehicles. To solve this, it is necessary to apply the haze removal function that can be processed in real time to the camera. Therefore, in this paper, the fog removal method of Sim with excellent performance is implemented with hardware capable of real-time processing. The proposed hardware was designed using Verilog HDL, and FPGA was implemented by setting Xilinx's xc7z045-2ffg900 as the target device. As a result of logic synthesis using Xilinx Vivado program, it has a maximum operating frequency of 276.932MHz and a maximum processing speed of 31.279fps in a 4K (4096×2160) high-resolution environment, thus satisfying the real-time processing standard.
