A Study on the Development of Multifuntional Real-Time Inclination and Azimuth Measurement System (다용도 실시간 경사각과 방위각 연속 측정 시스템 개발연구)

  • In geophysics and geophysical exploration fields, we can use information about inclination and azimuth in various ways. These include borehole deviation logging for inversion process, real-time data acquisition system, geophysical monitoring system, and so on. This type of information is also necessarily used in the directional drilling of shale gas fields. We thus need to develop a subminiature, low-powered, multi-functional inclination and azimuth measurement system for geophysical exploration fields. In this paper, to develop real-time measurement system, we adopt the high performance low power Micro Control Unit (made with state-of-the-art Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor technology) and newly released Micro Electro Mechanical Systems Attitude Heading Reference System sensors. We present test results on the development of a multifunctional real-time inclination and azimuth measurement system. The developed system has an ultra-slim body so as to be installed in 42mm sonde. Also, this system allows us to acquire data in real-time and to easily expand its application by synchronizing with a depth encoder or Differential Global Positioning System.

  • The geological research as a part of HLW disposal program in Korea is carried out to provide necessary data for the establishment of the reference repository system in term of design and safety assessment in the crystalline rock terrains. Six deep boreholes were drilled to obtain hydrogeological and hydrochemical data from Jurassic granites in the Yuseong area, Korea. The core observation, televiewer logging and hydraulic testing were carried out during and after drilling and multi-packer system were installed in the boreholes of 500m depth for hydraulic and hydrochemical monitoring including environmental isotopes. The integration of hydrogeochemical and hydrodynamic data would be built greater confidence for the understanding of groundwater system in fractured rock mass. This geoscientific program could be possible to suggest a general guideline to develop the reference disposal concept of high-level radioactive waste in Korea.

Consistency preservation techniques for Location Register System in Mobile Networks

  • A database called Home Location Register(HLR) plays a major role in location management in mobile cellular networks. The objectives of this paper are to identify the problems of the current HLR system through rigorous analysis, to suggest solutions to them. The current HLR backup method is a process of simply writing the changed memory SLD block to disk, which has a problem in maintaining database consistency. Since information change and backup are performed separately by separate processes, there is a risk of information inconsistency when an error restart occurs. To solve this problem, a transaction concept was introduced for subscriber-related operation functions and a recovery method through logging and checkpointing was introduced. The subscriber related functions of tasks terminated normally by the suggested process are recovered with consistency even after system restarts. Performance is also not affected seriously because disk tasks for log occur with only subscriber related functions.

  • There has been increasing of using Internet as time goes by, and it means that the analysis technique of appetence for the users logging into the internet system has been absolutely advanced. Keeping pace with the intense expansion of information, the mailing system is the one to be very busy on Internet service at the present time. This paper introduces to support users that carry handling account management easier by using virtual domain control on mail server. It also finds out the merit to get more efficient way to control the bunch of mails that classify into mail-box to users in advance.

  • The current diagnostic monitoring(DM) systems of cellular phones have many problems since their original technology is came from Qualcom company. Therefore the domestic phone makers only modify the source program and use them within limited applications. In this paper, we have developed our own DM system which is enable to solve the above problems and can be used as a test tool so that problems of phone communications are found easily and quickly. In addition, we will enhance this system to follow the current wireless technique by improving the protocol and enhancing the functions.

  • Energy saving is as important as developments of green energy and alternative energy. This paper describes design of hybrid type streetlight for railway station with renewable energy as photovoltaic, wind, secondary battery. In designing hybrid type streetlight for railway station, generation energy with renewable energy and reliability is strongly needed to meet the demand of railway station. In order to achieve the high performance of a streetlight, photovoltaic, wind and secondary battery system, PV tracker, monitoring and GUI system with logging function are designed. To verify of performance of hybrid type streetlight for railway station, we have demonstration test to get of generation energy and flow of energy and the results are present in this paper.

  • In order to provide design concept and guidelines for the user interface of MIDAS$^{TM}$(Medical Image Display and Archiving System), a questionnire survey and empirical study were conducted. User and task requirements were analyzed based upon usrvey results. The empirical study was done on the 1.0 version of MIDAS to find out the influence of user charactenistics (i.e.job, experiences, etc.) and UI design factors(i.e. layout, wording, procedures) on various usability measures(i.e. performance, satisfaction). To perform empinical tests, eight task scenarios were selected and user interactions were recorderded using an auto-logging software. The results show that the doctor group requires more learning time. Also, eight types of user errors such as commision, omission, repeat were identified and the causes of the errors were analyzed related to UI design factors. UI design guidelines were suggested for a new version of medical image filing system.m.

  • 본 논문에서는 일반 사용자 수준에서 시스템 콜을 제어하여 리눅스 기반 자원을 보호하고 해당 시스템 콜 정보를 기록 및 관리하는 방법과 그에 따른 구성을 기술한다. 제안된 방법은 사용자의 시스템 콜을 인터셉트하여 자원 접근을 제어한다. 시스템 콜에 관련된 정보들은 커널 수준에서 필터링 되며, 필터링 된 데이터는 로그 자료로 저장된다. 로그 자료로 저장된 데이터는 시스템 침입을 판단하는 침입탐지시스템 (Intrusion Detection System)의 하부구조로 사용할 수 있도록 구성한다. 또한, 본 고에서 제안된 방법은 리눅스의 코드(Code) 수정을 요구하지 않고 동적으로 적용이 가능하며. 임의의 사용자의 특정 시스템 콜에 대해서 접근제어 기능을 수행할 수 있는 장정을 가지고 있다.

  • Many researches are going on with regard to issues and problems related to mobile database systems, which are caused by the weak connectivity of wireless networks, the mobility and the portability of mobile clients. Mobile computing satisfies user's demands for convenience and performance to use information at any time and in any place, but it has many problems to be solved in the aspect of data management. The purpose of our study is to Implement Real-Time Mobile Query Processing System(MQPS) to solve problems related to database hoarding, the maintenance of shared dataconsistency and the optimization of logging, which are caused by the weak connectivity and disconnection of wireless networks inherent in mobile database systems under mobile client server environments. In addition, we proved the superiority of the proposed MQPS by comparing its performance to the C I S(Client-Intercept-Srever) model.

  • The Computerizing Record Management System(RMS) has been developed for ULJIN Nuclear Power Plant in Korea on the basis of the Manual System. By means of review and analysis of processing flow & project requirements, system logics such as Receiving system, Logging system, Distribution system, Filing system, Indexing & Retrieval system and Output system of statistic and various reports, have been established for computerizing. Structure of Masterfile has been designed so as to include Bibliographic data, Transmittal data, Distribution data, Area data, RMS data for operation of Plant. The RMS data have been designed for construction and operation of the plant by adding index parameters for operation such as System code, KEPCO No., Component link code and Retention period on the point of receiving. The RMS has turned out an easy access to cross-reference between RMS and Material Control System.
