  • In this paper, person monitoring and personal identification information management by using the location positioning device and the location management system based on GPS is analysed and developed. Mobile HTE(Mobile HTE : Mobile Home Terminal Equipment) of the developed system uses the module for transmitting PID(Personal Identification Device) information and the module based on GPS's location information. HTE transmits the received information from Mobile HTE to the Location Management System through the internet system. The Location Management System is developed for person location management and information management.

  • The increasing availability of personal location data pushed by the widespread use of location-sensing technologies raises concerns with respect to the safeguard of location privacy. To address such concerns location privacy-preserving techniques are being investigated. An important area of application for such techniques is represented by Location Based Services (LBS). Many privacy-preserving techniques designed for LBS are based on the idea of forwarding to the LBS provider obfuscated locations, namely position information at low spatial resolution, in place of actual users' positions. Obfuscation techniques are generally based on the use of geometric methods. In this paper, we argue that such methods can lead to the disclosure of sensitive location information and thus to privacy leaks. We thus propose a novel method which takes into account the semantic context in which users are located. The original contribution of the paper is the introduction of a comprehensive framework consisting of a semantic-aware obfuscation model, a novel algorithm for the generation of obfuscated spaces for which we report results from an experimental evaluation and reference architecture.

  • Recently, location based service(LBS) expended based on personal specialized service, however since commercialized GPS based emergency rescue service comes with shadow zone for GPS signal such as inside building, the accuracy and reliability are not guaranteed. Therefore to improve such problem, we propose an active location detecting algorithm using RFID-TAG and Yagiantenna. To track the location of RFID-TAG where signal is generated, location tracking device in which Yagi-Antenna is installed moves around. Since directed wave and reflected wave co-exist during signal reception, final signal generated location is searched by setting up multiple of locations where signal can be generated on the map and moving location tracking device along minimum length of path. The algorithm proposed in this paper was verified of its technical validity through simulator.

  • The purpose of this research is to accurately estimate the location of a device using the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of IEEE 802.11 WLAN for location tracking in indoor environments. For the location estimation method, we adopted the calibration model. By applying the Adaptive Zone Based K-NNSS (AZ-NNSS) algorithm, which considers the velocity of devices, this paper presents a 9% improvement of accuracy compared to the existing K-NNSS-based research, with 37% of the K-NNSS computation load. The accuracy is further enhanced by using a Kalman filter; the improvement was about 24%. This research also shows the level of accuracy that can be achieved by replacing a subset of the calibration data with values computed by a numerical equation, and suggests a reasonable number of calibration points. In addition, we use both the mean error distance (MED) and hit ratio to evaluate the accuracy of location estimation, while avoiding a biased comparison.

  • GPS is especially suitable for location systems in flat areas, but the availability of GPS is limited in highly urbanized and mountain areas, due to the nature of satellite communications. Dead reckoning is generally used to solve a location problem when a pedestrian is out of range of GPS coverage. To extend the apparent coverage of the GPS system for a hiker in mountain areas, we propose an integrated 3D location system that interpolates a 3D dead reckoning system based on information about contour lines. The speeds of hikers vary according to the inclination of the ground in sloped areas such as mountains. To reduce location measurement errors, we determine the angle of inclination based on the contour lines of the mountain, and use the speeds based on the inclination in the location system. The simulation results show that the proposed system is more accurate than the existing location system.

  • Mobility management is important in mobile cellular networks. In this study, we considered an enhanced location-based registration (ELR) method. In the ELR method, even when a mobile phone enters a cell to find that the cell is already on its list (of visited cells) and then updates its main counter, it does not remove any cells from the list (memory space permitting), which gives better performance than the location-based registration (LR) method. However, the location registration cost of the ELR method is still high, and there is a lot of room for improvement with regards to this matter. We now propose an improved version of the ELR method; namely, the improved ELR (iELR). In the iELR method, when a mobile phone enters a cell to find that the cell counter value is less than the main counter value, or when a mobile phone enters a cell to register its location, it updates the main counter and the cell counter values as much as possible to reduce the future need for registrations. We show that our proposed iELR method provides better performance than the ELR method.

  • The lenticular Location Based System is related to a location information technology. The system enables users to inform their location in real time wherever in a room, a building, a ship, a basement. In this paper, we analyze limitations and problems of the existing indoor Positioning System and propose a method of user-oriented location service. The proposed method consists of a lenticular sticker, a database(DB) acquisition and analysis technology. The proposed system can be used as an infrastructure to implement various indoor location-based services. In addition to improve user centered positioning accuracy through the development of location-based systems using indoor lenticular systems, it can be used in a disaster situation.

  • Development of new information and traffic technology causes fast-growing in the field of information-based system. At recent, development of LBS(Location Based Service) makes a remarkable growth of industry as GPS(Global Positioning System) becomes wide-spread and location information becomes more important. However, there is a problem like infringement of privacy when location information is used improperly[1]. In this paper, LBS platform is proposed in order to prevent infringement of privacy. To implement, we classify user path as pattern in a zone of user life. Thereupon, location information is provided according to user' specific situation.

  • At present, GML becomes the global standard for the XML encoding of geographic information and is the foundation for the Geo-Web. GML is being applied to a wide range of geographic applications including GIS and location-based services, telematics and intelligent transportation systems. In this paper, we propose the tourism information system for supporting the location based service application. We made an effort to design and implement a GIS computing environment by thin client for mobile web mapping service. We are interested in the GML applications that include traditional GIS system for navigation service and location finder for points of interest (POI) services. This paper summarizes the Tourism information system for location based service of a small area (Han-Ok Village with the Korean traditional houses in Jeonju-city), in which moving travelers can obtain proper information services at the current location associated with traditional monuments, cultural products, food, and conveniences. In the paper, we report on the design of the thin client/server system for a mobile environment. This paper is divided into three parts. First, we give a general overview of the organization of the system and of the important concerns of our design. Second we focus on our system supports for location and POI determination, and design concerns. Finally, we show the graphic user interface of PDA, the procedures involved in the service, and the executed results.

  • Recently, location information based routing protocol has been studied to estimate end-to-end path in wireless ad-hoc network. This protocol assumes all nodes can get heir location information via GPS devices and floods only limited area with routing message through acquired location information. Therefore, this protocol has advantage that can reduce the number of routing message than the existing IP-based routing protocols. In addition, all nodes enabling this protocol must acquire their own location information to participate in the location-based routing. However, recent because of the miniaturization of sensor node, sensor node without GPS function has been launched. Therefore in case of the sensor node that does not know location information, it is impossible to participate in the ad hoc network configuration and location information based routing. In this paper, a virtual location information based routing scheme is proposed for wireless nodes without GPS function to be able to participate in location information based routing within ad hoc network environments consisting of wireless nodes with GPS function and wireless nodes without GPS function. Therefore, the proposed protocol has the advantage that a wireless node without a GPS function is able to participate in ad hoc network configuration and the location information based routing.
