  • During the course of studying the helminth fauna from the fishes of the Korean coastal waters, two bucephalid species, Dolichoenterum longissimum Ozaki, 1924 and Prosorhynchus aculeatus Odhner, 1905, were collected from the alimentary canal of the conger eel, Conger myriaster. D. longissimum was characterized by having the ovary between the testes, and 7-8 horn-like projections on the ventral side of rhynchus. P. aculeatus was distinguished from the other species by the location of the mouth or the opening position of the excretory vesicle. These two bucephalid digeneans are new to the Korean fauna.

  • This study is conducted to clarify the effect of internal pressure on the deformation and collapse behaviors of wall thinned elbow under in-plane bending moment. Thus the nonlinear three-dmensional finite element analyses were performed to obtain the moment-rotation curve of elbow contatining various wall thinning defects located at intrados and extrados under in-plane bending (closing and opening modes) with internal pressure of $0{\sim}15MPa.$ From the results of analysis, the effect of internal of collapse moment of elbow on the global deformation behavior of wall thinned elbow was discussed, and the dependence of collapse moment of elbow on the magnitude of internal pressure was investigated under different loading mode, defect location, and defect shape.

  • A single specimen of Liparis punctulatus (30.9 mm standard length) belonging to the family Liparidae, was collected in the waters off Busan on 4 August, 2016. This species is characterized by a single pair of nostrils, unlike other Liparis species. It is distinguished from L. ochotensis by the numbers of dorsal, anal, pectoral fin rays and the location of the gill opening (above the pectoral fin in L. punctulatus vs. extending ventrally in front of the pectoral fin). In the molecular analysis, 514 bp of 16S rRNA gene of the specimen in this study were identical to that of L. punctulatus from NCBI GenBank (K2P distance < 0.002). This is the first record of the species in Korea based on a voucher specimen, and we follow the Korean name "Kko-ma-kkom-chi" for this species proposed by Myoung et al. and Kim et al.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of TMJ sounds by computerized sound power-spectrum analyser(SONOPAK, Bioresearch Inc., U.S.A.). TMJ sounds were recorded and anaylsed in the 87 patients wit TMJ noises by SONOPAK. The followings are the criteria of TMJ sound analysis. 1. It is possible to record the location of the TMJ sound in relation to the opening/closing cycle of mouth. 2. It is possible to record amplitude of sound(loudness) and frequency of sound (Hz) 3. Clicks display a narrow band of sound within the 0-300 Hz range. The peak frequency generally occurs between 50-150 Hz. And crepitus appear as a wide band of sound, occuring from 0-1300Hz. The data obtained from quantitative TMJ sound analysis give lots of information, but further researches are needed.

  • The efficiency of ventilation system is one of the most important issues of designing ventilation in high-rise apartment buildings. The purpose of this study is to analyze the ventilation efficiency of ventilation system by experimental study using CO2 gas method. The results of this paper can be summarized as follows; (1) An appropriate ventilation including opening planning, mechanical and hybrid system are required. (2) The supply diffuser of ventilation system should be located near the contaminant source. (3) The return grill should be located along with supply diffuser for proper ventilation. and the return grill should be located near or right above the contaminant source. (4) However, the supply location right above the contaminant source has to be avoided. and the supply diffuser should be installed in module with return grill increase ventilation effectiveness.

  • In this paper, the contact force between two colliding bodies is modeled by using Hertz's force-displacement law and nonlinear damping function. In order to verify the appropriateness of the proposed contact force model, the drop type impact test is carried out for different impact velocities and different materials of the impacting body, such as rubber, plastic and steel. In the drop type impact experiment, six photo interrupters in series close to the collision location are installed to measure the velocity before impact more accurately. The characteristics of contact force model are investigated through experiments. The parameters of the contact force model are estimated using the optimization technique. Finally the estimated parameters are used to predict the impact force between two colliding bodies in opening action of the magnetic contactor, a kind of switch mechanism for switching electric circuits.

  • At the economical crisis of Korea in 1997, self-determined price for apartment and the revision increasing the ratio of residential area for mixed-use residential building were introduced to activate the construction industry, which causes construction companies to build super high rise apartment discriminative and high class orientated. This study aims to classify the super high rise building which is planned to build or built recently and to analyze the architectural characteristics. The objects are 288 unit households in 26 apartment complexes higher than twenty five story since 1998. As a result, super high rise building comparing with existing apartments were being varied in plan types of main building and unit household and in construction types. As for the plan, the number of walls having opening to outdoor were increased and it is considered that high rise building can take advantage of a view, lighting and sunshine. The location of living room that used to be in the center of unit in existing apartment was moved freely without rule.

  • In this study, a design process for reinforced concrete structures using the nonlinear FEM analysis is developed. Instead of using the nonlinear analysis to evaluate the required performance after design process, the nonlinear analysis is applied before designing the reinforcement arrangement inside the RC structures. An automatic reinforcement generator for computer aided reinforcement agreement is developed for this purpose. Based on a nonlinear FEM program for analyzing the reinforced concrete structure, a smart fictitious material model of steel, is proposed which can self-adjust the reinforcement to the required amount at the cracking location according to the load increment. Using this tool, the reinforcement ratio required at design load level can be decided automatically. In this paper, an example of RC beam with opening is used to verify the proposed process. Finally, a trial design process for a real size underground RC LNG tank is introduced.
