  • An LMI based method to construct a decentralized control law for large scale systems is discussed. It is extended to assure the stability not only of the overall system but also of each subsystem without interconnection. Then, it is simplified to have local feedback loops only for some selected subsystems.

  • This paper presents on approach to the position control of a robot manipulator by using a decentralized adaptive control scheme. The large scale system is regarded as the system which consists of many subsystems having interconnection. In each subsystem, a local control system is composed by feedforward and feedback component, one computes the nominal torque from the Newton-Euler equation, the other computes the perturbation equation which reduce the position error of the manipulator along the nominal trajectory. A computer simulation studies was conducted to evaluate and compare the performances of the proposed manipulator control scheme with those of the PD control and centralized control schemes.

  • The KOMPSAT, which is scheduled to be launched by Taurus launch vehicle in late November of 1999, will be in a sun-synchronous orbit with an altitude of 685km, eccentricity of 0.001, inclination of 98deg and local time of ascending node of 10:50 a.m. Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and Daewoo Heavy Industry had jointly developed a KOMPSAT Simulator as a component of the KOMPSAT Mission Control Element. The MCE had been delivered to Korea Aerospace Research Institute for the KOMPSAT ground operation. It is being used for training of KOMPSAT ground station personnel. Each of satellite subsystems and space environment were mathematically modeled in the simulator. To verify the overall function of KOMPSAT simulator, a Launch and Early Orbit Phase(LEOP) operation simulations have been performed. The simulator had been verified through various tests such as functional level test, subsystem test, interface test, system test, and acceptance test. In this paper, simulation results for LEOP operations to verify flight software adapted into simulator, satellite subsystem models and environment models are presented.

  • In this paper we consider the design of bent sequence generators employing a modified bent function. Through the experimental results and simulation, we show that the period of sequences is $2^n$-1, the number of sequences in the set is $2n/2$, the largest magnitude of correlation is $2n/2$+1, and the sequence generators easy to randomly initialize into any assigned code and hence can be rapidly hopped from sequence to sequence. And we construct a code synchronization system with bent sequence generator as the local code generator, a sliding correlator and DLL as the acquisition subsystem and the tracking subsystem, respectively for DS-CODA, and verify the experimenta results for accomplishing code synchronism.

  • SCST(The generic SCSI target subsystem for Linux) enables developers to make SCSI target storage and supports various SCSI network protocol such as iSCSI, FC, SRP. In this paper, we propose storage virtualization method using SCST and virtualize all flash array as high performance storage through 4Gb Fiber Channel, 10Gb Ethernet and 40Gb Infiniband and evaluate their performance, respectively. Experimental result shows that 40Gb infiniband network appliance have better performance than others. In case of sequential/random read, 40Gb infiniband network appliance shows 78% and 79% of local all flash array performance attached to SCSI target system. In case of sequential/random write, it shows 83% and 88% of local flash array performance attached to SCSI target system.

Promotion Strategies for Daegu-Kyungbuk Mobile Cluster: Searching for Alternative Regional Innovation Governance (대구.경북 모바일 클러스터 육성전략: 지역혁신 거버넌스의 대안 모색)

  • This research aims to examine Korean regional innovation governance, find structural problems, and explore alternative strategies of regional innovation governance. Especially the alternative governance was searched through the case study of Daegu-Kyungbuk mobile cluster, of which formulation Samsung is the anchor institution. Regional innovation governance in this research is defined as a policy system to link knowledge generation & diffusion subsystem and knowledge application & exploitation subsystem, and institutional conditions to steer the system. "Social Capital Assessment Tool (SOCAT)" of the World Bank was utilized for the appreciation of cluster governance. The regional innovation governance of Daegu-Kyungbuk mobile cluster is characterized as production networks dominated by one-to-one relationship between Samsung and hardware/software developers, decentralized R&D networks and policy networks with multiple hubs. Major policy agents have not developed networks with local companies, and rare are interactions between the policy agents. Local companies, especially software developers, responded they have had experiences to cooperate for local problem solving and shared their community goal, however, the degree of trust in major local project leaders is not high. Local hardware/software developers with core technologies need to be cooperative to develop similar technologies or products in Daegu-Kyungbuk mobile cluster. Regional administrative actors, such as the City of Daegu and Kyungsangbuk-do, and diverse innovation-related institutes should build cooperative environment where diverse project-based cooperation units are incessantly created, taken apart, and recreated.

  • In this paper the modeling and control of a twin roll strip caster is investigated. Mathematical models for the strip casting process are obtained by analyzing five critical areas such that the molten steel level in the pool, solidification process, roll separating force and torque, roll dynamics including hydraulic actuators, and roll drive system. A two-level control strategy is proposed. At lower level, three local subsystems are independently feedback-controlled by suitable local controllers which perform well to the behaviors of each subsystem. They are a variable structure control of the molten steel level in the pool, an adaptive predictive control of the roll gap which is directly related to the strip thickness, and an $H^{\infty}$ control of the roll drive system. At higher level, all reference signals to the lower level subsystems are generated by an optimal controller in the perspective of regulating the strip thickness and roll separating force.   • A new stabilization scheme is proposed in which the local state feedback is utilized in each decentralized controller for large-scale interconnected systems. In the proposed scheme, the controller is designed in two steps. First, the feedback gain of each decentralized controller is temporarily chosen so that the eigenvalues of each isolated subsystem are placed at the desired locations in the complex plane. Secondly, the feedback gain of each controller is compensated so that the time derivative of the Lyapunov function candidate for the overall closed-loop system should be negative. A sufficient condition which assures the global system to stable is given.

  • In this paper, we make a design study for a local oscillator system of the 100 ㎓ band cosmic radio receiving system. We use the YIG oscillator with digital driver which is the main oscillator. This oscillator has a good frequency and phase stability at some temperature variation, and the easy computer aided control characteristics. This total system designed to two subsystem, first is the oscillator system include YIG oscillator, tripler, harmonic mixer and triplexer etc., second is the PLL system to supply the precise and stable local oscillator frequency to mixer. The proposed local oscillator system in this paper can be used in a single or multi pixel receiver because this system can be lock the local oscillator frequency automatically using PC.

  • Purpose : This study aimed to acquire a basic knowledge about lumbar stability and inquire into exercise approach of pressure biofeedback unit for lumbar stability. Methods : This study was composed with reviewed theory of lumbar stability and several books and articles for exercise using pressure biofeedback unit. Results : The stability of lumbar should work symmetrical with passive, active, control subsystem in neutral zone, and local muscles should be using for stability. Especially, selective using of transverse abdominis work for lumbar stability importantly. The control of using pressure biofeedback unit may important not only examination but treatment. Conclusion : The stability of lumbar need co-contraction of specific local muscle and training for timing as well as using pressure biofeedback unit for accurate control may use for examination and therapedic approach.
