Compressive resistance behavior of UHPFRC encased steel composite stub column

  • To explore the feasibility of eliminating the longitudinal rebars and stirrups by using ultra-high-performance fiber reinforcement concrete (UHPFRC) in concrete encased steel composite stub column, compressive behavior of UHPFRC encased steel stub column has been experimentally investigated. Effect of concrete types (normal strength concrete, high strength concrete and UHPFRC), fiber fractions, and transverse reinforcement ratio on failure mode, ductility behavior and axial compressive resistance of composite columns have been quantified through axial compression tests. The experimental results show that concrete encased composite columns with NSC and HSC exhibit concrete crushing and spalling failure, respectively, while composite columns using UHPFRC exhibit concrete spitting and no concrete spalling is observed after failure. The incorporation of steel fiber as micro reinforcement significantly improves the concrete toughness, restrains the crack propagation and thus avoids the concrete spalling. No evidence of local buckling of rebars or yielding of stirrups has been detected in composite columns using UHPFRC. Steel fibers improve the bond strength between the concrete and, rebars and core shaped steel which contribute to the improvement of confining pressure on concrete. Three prediction models in Eurocode 4, AISC 360 and JGJ 138 and a proposed toughness index (T.I.) are employed to evaluate the compressive resistance and post peak ductility of the composite columns. It is found that all these three models predict close the compressive resistance of UHPFRC encased composite columns with/without the transverse reinforcement. UHPFRC encased composite columns can achieve a comparable level of ductility with the reinforced concrete (RC) columns using normal strength concrete. In terms of compressive resistance behavior, the feasibility of UHPFRC encased steel composite stub columns with lesser longitudinal reinforcement and stirrups has been verified in this study.

  • 본 연구는 현재 늘어나고 있는 수소 충전소 및 ESS 시설 등에서 예상치 못한 사고로 발생할 수 있는 폭발 위험과 이로 인한 구조물 방호 기술의 중요성에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 시멘트 복합체의 보강 방법에 따른 내충격 특성을 평가하여 구조물의 방호 설계를 위한 기초 데이터를 제시하였다. 실험결과 가장 기본적 구조재료인 철근콘크리트는 내충격 성능에 미치는 보강효과가 무근 콘크리트에 비해 약 20% 향상되는 것으로 나타났으며, 고속충격과 같은 빠른 하중에 대해서는 국부적 보강보다는 섬유와 같이 매트릭스 전체를 보강하는 방법이 효과적인 것으로 확인되었다.

국가산업단지의 지진재난 내진보강대책 수립 연구 (Study on Establishing Earthquake-resistance Reinforcement Measures for Earthquake Disasters in National Industrial Complexes)

  • 연구목적: 국가산업단지 공장시설물이 보유한 내진설계의 잠재적 위험과 안전지도 및 점검의 미비점을 효과적으로 향상시킬 수 있는 안전관리 및 내진보강대책 마련을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법: 본 연구에서는 국가산업단지의 지진재난 대비 안전관리 현황 및 관리체계 등 지진재난 안전관리 전반에 관한 조사·분석을 통해 문제점 및 개선방안을 도출하였고, 국가산업단지 내 입주기업체 내진설계 실태조사를 실시하여 시설유형과 구조적 특성에 기반한 개선방안을 제시하였다. 연구결과: 결론적으로 국가산업단지 지진재난 대비 안전관리 및 내진보강에 대한 문제점을 정리하여 4가지 유형별(내진성능 평가 및 관련 제도 보완, 입주기업 및 지자체 권한, 내진보강 및 안전관리 지원대책, 조직의 역량강화)로 개선방안을 도출하였다. 결론: 이를 기반으로 국가산업단지 입주기업이 지진재난을 대비하여 추진해야 하는 내진보강 대책을 마련하였으며, 각 대책별 세부적인 방안을 제시하였다.

한.미 FTA 체결에 따른 저축은행의 성장전략 모색 (Groping for Growth Strategy of Savings Bank as a result of signing the Korea-U.S. FTA)

  • Domestic industries are facing the open era as a result of signing the Korea-U.S. FTA with no exception to the financial industry. The FFA between two countries is expected to produce pros and cons for domestic financial industry. Therefore, it is very important to minimize the shock caused by opening our financial market and to adopt the advanced financial tools actively. Signing the Korea-U.S. FTA and enforcing the Integration Law of Capital Market are leading a big crisis to the Savings Banks which have been shrinking under the dramatically changing domestic financial environment since the financial crisis. To cope with financial globalization, Korean Savings Banks are demanded to build up their concrete identity and reposition their status. This is related to shaping the long-term position of domestic financial industry. Therefore, the Savings Banks must take the growth strategy for their survival, and it is an inescapable choice. Several options are available: big scale operation and diversification of business functions, reinforcement of local-focused mediating function of funds, establishment of strategic alliance with other financial firms, reinforcement of risk management system and core competence, nourishment and employment of professional manpower, and active deregulation and policy support. When the Savings Banks are refurbished as an independent local bank performing the central role of local finance, the bright future can be their destiny under the enormously changing global financial environment. Also, two more conditions need to be satisfied: to establish horizontal networks among local banks directed by cooperative Korea Federation of Savings Banks to reverse the weak scale position, and to satisfy their own peculiar niche market with internal countermeasure to face global financial networks.

Experimental investigation of local damage in high strength concrete columns using a shaking table

  • In this paper the accumulation of local damage during the cyclic loading in reinforced high-strength concrete columns is experimentally investigated. Two identical column specimens with annular cross-section and spiral reinforcement were designed and two tests, up to failure, under the action of a constant vertical concentrated force and a time-dependent concentrated horizontal force, were carried out at the LNEC shaking tables facility. Sine type signals, controlled in amplitude, frequency and time duration were used for these experiments. The concept of local damage based on local stiffness degradation is considered in detail and illustrated by experimental results. The specimens were designed and reinforced in such a way that the accumulation of damage was predicted by dominating deformations (cracking and crushing of the concrete) while the increasing of the loading values was a dominating factor of damage. It was observed that the local damage of HSC columns has exposed their anisotropic local behaviour. The damage accumulation was slightly different from the expected in accordance with the continuum damage concept, and a partial random character was observed.

Modelling reinforced concrete beams under mixed shear-tension failure with different continuous FE approaches

  • The paper presents quasi-static numerical simulations of the behaviour of short reinforced concrete beams without shear reinforcement under mixed shear-tension failure using the FEM and four various constitutive continuum models for concrete. First, an isotropic elasto-plastic model with a Drucker-Prager criterion defined in compression and with a Rankine criterion defined in tension was used. Next, an anisotropic smeared crack and isotropic damage model were applied. Finally, an elasto-plastic-damage model was used. To ensure mesh-independent FE results, to describe strain localization in concrete and to capture a deterministic size effect, all models were enhanced in a softening regime by a characteristic length of micro-structure by means of a non-local theory. Bond-slip between concrete and reinforcement was considered. The numerical results were directly compared with the corresponding laboratory tests performed by Walraven and Lehwalter (1994). The advantages and disadvantages of enhanced models to model the reinforced concrete behaviour were outlined.

Modelling of timber joints made with steel dowels and locally reinforced by DVW discs

  • Local reinforcement in dowel type timber joints is essential to improve ductility, to increase load carrying capacity and to reduce the risk of brittle failure, especially in the case of using solid dowel. In many types of reinforcing materials available today, DVW (densified veneer wood) has been demonstrated to be the most advantages in terms of compatibility, embedding performance and ductility. Preliminary studies show that using appropriately sized DVW discs bonded into the timber interfaces may be an effective way to reinforce the connection. In this paper, non-linear 3-dimensional finite element models, incorporating orthotropic and non-linear material behaviour, have been developed to simulate structural performance of the timber joints locally reinforced by DVW discs. Different contact algorithms were applied to simulate contact conditions in the joints. The models were validated by the corresponding structural tests. Correlation between the experimental results and the finite element simulations is reasonably good. Using validated finite element models, parametric studies were undertaken to investigate effects of the DVW disc sizes and the end distances on shear stresses and normal stresses in a possible failure plane in the joint.

섬유 및 강성 보강재료 기반 도시철도 내진성능 보강공법적용의 문제점 연구 (A Study on the Problem of Application of Seismic Performance Reinforcement Method for Urban Railways Case of Fiber and Rigid Reinforcement)

  • 국내 도시철도는 2005년 내진설계가 본격적으로 도입되었으며, 내진성능평가 및 보강방법에 대한 많은 연구가 이루어졌다. 2009년 3월 공포된 지진재해대책법 시행령(현 지진화산재해 대책법 시행령)에 따라 2010년4월~2013년10월까지 일부 지자체에서 도시철도 지하화 구간의 내진성능 상세 평가 및 보강방안을 수립하였다. 그 후, 2018년 말까지 공용기간이 오래된 구간에 대하여 기존 도시철도의 내진성능 평가를 수행하였으며, 기 연구된 방법을 적용하여 다양한 공법으로 보강공사를 시행하고 있다. 그러나 다양한 보강재료과 이를 사용한 공법이 연구되었지만, 현재 도시철도 보강공사에 적용되고 있는 공법에 대한 분류 실태연구는 미비하다. 본 연구의 목적은 현재 도시철도 내진성능보강 공사에 적용중인 사례를 분석하여, 공법별 특징 및 적용 사유와 문제점을 제시하는데 있다.

콘크리트 기둥과 철골 보 합성골조 접합부에서의 지압강도 (Bearing Strength of Concrete Column and Steel Beam Composite Joints)

  • 철근콘크리트 기둥-철골보(RCS)합성골조 접합부에서 지압 거동을 평가하고 지압설계를 위하여 단순화한 국부지압 실험을 수행하였다. 편심하중에 의해 국부지압을 받을 때 콘크리트의 쐐기작용과 띠철근의 횡구속 효과에 의해 저항된다. 실험결과 U형 지압보강근은 지압내력을 철근 강도만큼 증가시키면서 상세와 설치가 단순하여 효과적으로 나타났다. 띠철근 양에 따라 지압강도가 증가하며 이중 띠철근이 더욱 효과적으로 약20% 증가된다. 현행 ASCE설계지침에서 띠철근 규정은 지압내력이 2 $f_{ck}$ 가 되기 위해서는 다소 미흡하며, 지압강도는 띠철근과 이중 띠철근을 증가시킴에 따라 최대한 2.5 $f_{ck}$ 까지 사용할 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과로서 RCS 보기둥 접합부의 지압내력 추정을 위한 예측식이 제안되었으며 실험결과와 비교적 잘 일치되고 있다.

QLGR: A Q-learning-based Geographic FANET Routing Algorithm Based on Multi-agent Reinforcement Learning

  • The utilization of UAVs in various fields has led to the development of flying ad hoc network (FANET) technology. In a network environment with highly dynamic topology and frequent link changes, the traditional routing technology of FANET cannot satisfy the new communication demands. Traditional routing algorithm, based on geographic location, can "fall" into a routing hole. In view of this problem, we propose a geolocation routing protocol based on multi-agent reinforcement learning, which decreases the packet loss rate and routing cost of the routing protocol. The protocol views each node as an intelligent agent and evaluates the value of its neighbor nodes through the local information. In the value function, nodes consider information such as link quality, residual energy and queue length, which reduces the possibility of a routing hole. The protocol uses global rewards to enable individual nodes to collaborate in transmitting data. The performance of the protocol is experimentally analyzed for UAVs under extreme conditions such as topology changes and energy constraints. Simulation results show that our proposed QLGR-S protocol has advantages in performance parameters such as throughput, end-to-end delay, and energy consumption compared with the traditional GPSR protocol. QLGR-S provides more reliable connectivity for UAV networking technology, safeguards the communication requirements between UAVs, and further promotes the development of UAV technology.
