Shear Deformation of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Prestressed Concrete Beams

  • Steel fiber-reinforced prestressed concrete (SFRPSC) members typically have high shear strength and deformation capability, compared to conventional prestressed concrete (PSC) members, due to the resistance provided by steel fibers at the crack surface after the onset of diagonal cracking. In this study, shear tests were conducted on the SFRPSC members with the test variables of concrete compressive strength, fiber volume fraction, and prestressing force level. Their localized behavior around the critical shear cracks was measured by a non-contact image-based displacement measurement system, and thus their shear deformation was thoroughly investigated. The tested SFRPSC members showed higher shear strengths as the concrete compressive strength or the level of prestress increased, and their stiffnesses did not change significantly, even after diagonal cracking due to the resistance of steel fibers. As the level of prestress increased, the shear deformation was contributed by the crack opening displacement more than the slip displacement. In addition, the local displacements around the shear crack progressed toward directions that differ from those expected by the principal strain angles that can be typically obtained from the average strains of the concrete element. Thus, this localized deformation characteristics around the shear cracks should be considered when measuring the local deformation of concrete elements near discrete cracks or when calculating the local stresses.

직사각형 폭발 챔버에서 화염전파와 직사각형 장애물의 상관관계 (Interactions Between a Propagating Flame and Rectangular Wall Obstacles in a Rectangular Confinement)

  • 직사각형 폭발 챔버에서 전파하는 화염과 직사각형 장애물의 상관관계를 조사하기 위한 실험적 연구가 수행되었다. 챔버내에 10%, 20%및 30%의 blockage ratio를 가지는 3가지 직사각형 장애물들이 사용되었다. 전파하는 화염과 장애물의 상관관계를 조사하기 위해 고속카메라가 사용되었다. 고속카메라로 얻어진 화염 이미지로부터 장애물 주위의 국부 화염속도 및 그 화염속도의 확률밀도함수가 계산되었다. 실험결과, 전파하는 화염이 직사각형 장애물의 모서리와 상호작용할 때 국부 화염속도는 증가하였다. 그 증가속도는 장애물의 Blockage Ratio가 증가할 때 더욱 커지는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나, 평균화염속도는 Blockage Ratio에 큰 의존성을 가지지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구에서 사용된 작은 L(Lenlgth)/D(Diameter)비를 가지는 폭발 챔버내에서 전파하는 화염전면과 직사각형 장애물과의 상관관계는 L/D비가 큰 문헌에서 보고된 결과와 비교하면, Blockage Ratio에 따른 의존성은 작은 것으로 나타났다.

준설 점토사면의 변형양상에 관한 원심모델링 (Centrifuge Modeling on the Deformation Modes of Dredged Clay Slope)

  • 본 연구에서는 준설에 따른 점토사면의 변형 및 변위양상과 파괴형태를 평가하기 위하여 준설사면의 기울기를 변화시키면서 원심모형실험을 실시하였다. 준설사면의 기울기는 1:2, 1:2.5, 1:3으로 변화시키면서 모형실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과 기울기 1:3인 경우에는 4개월 경과시점까지 사면부내에서 변위는 발생되었지만, 초기단면과 유사하게 사면을 유지하고 있어 준설후 사면 안정성의 확보에는 문제가 없는 것으로 평가되었다. 준설사면 기울기가 1:2.5인 경우에는 4개월 경과시점에서 사면부내에서 국부적인 사면파괴가 발생하였으며, 기울기가 1:2인 사면의 경우 경과시간 2개월 후 원호파괴형태의 사면내 파괴가 발생되었다. 실험결과 지반의 최대 연직변위는 사면의 비탈머리에서 발생하였으며, 최대 수평변위는 비탈머리를 기준으로 0.5~1H(H : 초기 점토층의 높이) 떨어진 지점의 사면부 아래에서 발생하였으며, 최대 수평변위는 최대연직변위의 약 2배 정도인 것으로 나타났다.

  • Surface normal vector and surface velocity are very important parameters to simulate rolling processes precisely. In this study, Local displacement functions are constructed for each node on the contact surface and parameters are found by the least square fitting of displacement on the neighbor nodes. Deformation gradient tensor is calculated from the displacement function and surface normal vector and velocity also can be derived. Flat rolling simulation model is presented on the basis of the suggested contact scheme. Series of rolling process simulation are carried out and the results are compared with the experiments.

  • Natural frequencies and mode shapes are two important modal data which specify the system. If the real system and FE model don't have the same local physical parameters, there will be a difference between modal data from real system and FE model. Because there is little difference in displacement mode shapes measured by an accelerometer, displacement modal update based on mode shapes including measurement errors may not be successful. Displacements of the helical stator tooth for an electromechanical integrated toroidal drive

  • The stator tooth is a key component of the electromechanical integrated toroidal drive system. The stator tooth is spiral in shape and the calculation of its displacements is difficult. In this paper, using the coordinate transformation method, the displacements of the stator tooth in the local coordinate system are expressed as the function of the variable in the drive coordinate system. Using the minimum potential energy principle, the equations of the displacements of the stator tooth under the loads are deduced. The displacement distributions within the stator tooth are investigated and the changes of the displacement distributions along with the main parameters are analyzed. This research can offer the basis for the strength and stiffness design of the drive system.

Analysis of local vibrations in the stay cables of an existing cable-stayed bridge under wind gusts

  • This paper examines local vibrations in the stay cables of a cable-stayed bridge subjected to wind gusts. The wind loads, including the self-excited load and the buffeting load, are converted into time-domain values using the rational function approximation and the multidimensional autoregressive process, respectively. The global motion of the girder, which is generated by the wind gusts, is analyzed using the modal analysis method. The local vibration of stay cables is calculated using a model in which an inclined cable is subjected to time-varying displacement at one support under global vibration. This model can consider both forced vibration and parametric vibration. The response characteristics of the local vibrations in the stay cables under wind gusts are described using an existing cable-stayed bridge. The results of the numerical analysis show a significant difference between the combined parametric and forced vibrations and the forced vibration.

  • This work is an attempt to design a dynamic model for a non local bio-thermoelastic medium with diffusion. The system of governing equations are formulated in terms of displacement vector field, chemical potential and the tissue temperature in the context of non local dual phase lag (NL DPL) theories of heat conduction and mass diffusion. Based on this considered model, we study the fundamental solution and propagation of plane harmonic waves in tissues. In order to analyze the behavior of the NL DPL model, we construct basic theorem in the terms of elementary function which determine the existence of three longitudinal and one transverse wave. The effects of various parameters on the characteristics of waves i.e., phase velocity and attenuation coefficients are elaborated by plotting various figures of physical quantities in the later part of the paper.

  • In this paper, development of the three-dimensional structural analysis is performed by applying FETI-local method. In the FETI-local method, the penalty term is added as a preconditioner. The OPT-DKT shell element is used in the present structural analysis. Newmark-${\beta}$ method is employed to conduct the dynamic analysis. The three-dimensional FETI-local static structural analysis is conducted. The contour and the displacement of the results are compared following the different number of sub-domains. The computational time and memory usage are compared with respect to the number of CPUs used. The three-dimensional dynamic structural analysis is conducted while applying FETI-local method. The present results show appropriate scalability in terms of the computational time and memory usage. It is expected to improve the computational efficiency by combining the advantages of the original FETI method, i.e., FETI-mixed using the mixed local-global Lagrange multiplier.

강한 지진 하중하에서 강재 교각의 손상 거동 연구 (A Study on Damage Process Analysis for Steel Pier Subjected to Seismic Excitation)

  • 강구조물과 부재들의 지진 손상도 평가법에 새롭게 접근하기 위하여 강한 지진하중을 받는 강재 교각에 대해 수치해석을 수행하였다. 새로운 손상도 평가법에서 파괴 상태에 대한 기준은 지진하중이 재하되는 동안에 응력집중이 가장 심한 단면의 한 부분에서 누적소성변형율의 값이 90%에 이르게 되는 때를 의미한다. 단주기 특성의 지진하중에 대해서는 소성변형율의 누적에 의한 국부좌굴 파괴보다는 허용변위를 초과하는 전체좌굴에 의한 파괴가 지배적인 것으로 밝혀졌다. 장주기 특성의 지진하중에 대해서는 소성변형율이 강재교각 하부의 모서리 부분 요소에 누적되면서 누적 소성변형율에 의한 국부좌굴로 파괴되는 결과를 보였다.
