풍화된 암반에 근입된 현장타설말뚝의 하중전이 기구 (Load Transfer Mechanism of Drilled Shafts in Weathered Rock)

  • Since the allowable bearing capacities of piles in weathered/fractured rock are mainly governed by settlement, the load-displacement behavior of the rock socketed pile should be well known. To predict pile head settlement at the design stage, the exact understanding of the load-transfer mechanisms is essential. Therefore, in this research, the load-transfer mechanisms of drilled shaft socketed into weathered rock was investigated. For that, 5 cast-in-place concrete piles with diameters of 1,000 mm were socketed into weathered gneiss. The static axial load tests and the load-transfer measurements were performed to examine the axial resistant behavior of the piles. A comprehensive field/laboratory testing program on weathered rock at the field test sites was also performed to describe the in situ rock mass conditions quantitatively. And then, the effect of rock mass condition on the load transfer mechanism was investigated. The side shear resistance of the pile in moderately weathered rock reached to yielding point at a few millimeter displacements, and after that, the rate of resistance increment dramatically decreased. However, that in the highly /completely weathered rock did not show the obvious yielding point, and gradually increased showing the hyperbolic pattern until with the relatively high displacement (>10 mm). The end bearing-displacement curves showed linear increase at least until with the base displacement of approximately 10 mm, regardless rock mass conditions.

국내 말뚝재하시험에 대한 지반-말뚝계의 수치해석 (A Numerical Analysis of Soil-Pile Systems for Pile Load Tests at a Korean Site)

  • In order to evaluate the performance of axially of laterally loaded piles experimentaly, pile load tests can be carried out at the site Otherwise stress analyses or subgrade reaction analyses can solve the problem. In this study, stress analysis using FLAC code and subgrade reaction analyses using load transfer curves recommended by API(1993) were performed consistently on the basis of a result of site investigations, and the result of analyses was compared with the measured. As a result the behavior of pile heads was analyzed accurately for both axially and laterally loaded tests. Furthermore axially transferred loads were calculated appropriately for the measured and axial loads were transferred mainly mainly by the frictional resistance rather than by the tip resistance. Consequently, it can be commented that both analysis methods of soil-pile systems are applicable at teh objective site and that solutions may be more accurate if material properties from the site investigation are more explicit.

기성말뚝의 지지력 거동해석과 시공관리방안 (Bearing Capacity and Control Method of Driven Piles)

  • Dynamic load and static load tests are performed on steel pipe piles and concrete piles at five construction sites in highway to compare the difference of load bearing mechanisms. At each site, one steel pile is instrumented with electric strain gages and dynamic tests are performed on the pile during installation. Damages of strain gages due to the installation are checked and static test is performed upon the same pile after two or seven days as well. It shows that load transfer from side friction to base resistance behaves somewhat differently according to the results of load-settlement analysis obtained from PDA and static load test. Initial elastic stage of load settlement curves of two load tests is almost similar. But after the yielding point, dynamic resistance of pile behaves more stiffer than static resistance, thus, dynamic load test result might overestimate the real pile capacity compared with static result. Analysis of gage readings shows that unit skin friction increases exponentially with depth. The skin friction is mobilized at the 1∼2m above the pile tip and contributes to the considerable side resistance. Comparison of side and base resistances between the measured value and the calculated value by Meyerhof's bearing capacity equation using SPT N value shows that the calculated base resistance is higher than the measured. Therefore, contribution of side resistance to total capacity shouldn't be ignored or underestimated. Finally, based upon the overall test results, a construction control procedure is suggested.

  • 대구경 해상 말묵의 수평 하중전이 거동 및 변형 해석을 위해 p-y 하중전이 해석법이 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나, 본 연구에서는, 기존의 p-y 해석법의 단점을 극복하여, 지반의 연속성을 고려한 수평방향 하중전이 해석을 고찰하였으며, 3D wedge failure mode의 이론적인 해법과 재하시험을 통해 말뚝의 실제 거동에 보다 부합되도록 연약지반의 p-y 곡선을 제안하였다. 제안된 하중전이함수법의 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 현장재하시험 사례와의 비교분석을 수행하였고, 그 결과 제안된 해석방법은 기존 p-y 곡선에 비해 대구경 해상말뚝의 거동 및 변형 특성을 적절히 예측함을 알 수 있었다.

Analysis of soil resistance on drilled shafts using proposed cyclic p-y curves in weathered soil

  • A fundamental study of drilled shafts-soil systems subjected to lateral cyclic loading in weathered soil was conducted using numerical analyses. The emphasis was on quantifying the soil resistance of laterally cyclic loaded pile using 3D finite element analysis. The appropriate parametric studies needed for verifying the cyclic p-y characteristic are presented in this paper. A framework for determining the cyclic lateral load transfer curve (p-y curves) on the basis of numerical analyses is proposed. Through comparisons with results of field load tests, the three-dimensional numerical methodology in the present study is in good agreement with the general trend observed by in situ measurements and thus, represents a realistic soil-pile interaction for laterally loaded piles in soil than that of existing p-y method. It can be said that a rigorous present analysis can overcome the limitations of existing cyclic p-y methods to some extent by considering the effect of realistic three-dimensional combination of pile-soil forces. The proposed cyclic p-y curve is shown to be capable of predicting the behavior of the drilled shafts in weathered soil.

말뚝지지 전면기초의 3차원 근사해석기법 개발 (Development of Three-dimensional Approximate Analysis Method for Piled Raft Foundations)

  • 철지반의 비선형성을 고려한 말뚝지지 전면기초의 3차원 해석기법(YSPR)을 개발하였다. 전면기초는 6개의 자유도를 가진 평면쉘 요소로, 말뚝은 보-기둥 요소로 모델링하여 전면기초와 결합하였다. 또한 말뚝두부 및 지반의 강성은 $6{\times}6$ 강성행렬로 모델링 하였으며, 전면기초-말뚝-지반의 상호작용은 비선형 하중전이함수를 이용하여 선형/비선형거동의 모사가 가능하도록 하였다. 기존의 단순해석기법, 유한요소해석 및 현장계측값과의 비교 분석 결과, 본 해석기법이 대단면 말뚝지지전면기초에서 말뚝의 축하중 분포와 침하량을 비교적 정확히 산정하는 것으로 판단되며, 이러한 검증을 토대로 실제 대단면 기초설계에 대한 적용 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.

변형률에 따른 탄성계수 변화를 고려한 말뚝의 주면지지력 산정 (Estimation of Pile Shaft Resistances with Elastic Modulus Depending on Strain)

  • Axial loads and shaft resistances can be calculated by load transfer analysis using strain data with load level. In load transfer analysis, the elastic modulus of concrete is a one of the most important parameters to consider. The elastic modulus, $E_{50}$, suggested by ACI (American Concrete Institute), has been commonly used. However, elastic modulus of concrete shows nonlinear stress-strain characteristic, so nonlinearity should be considered in load transfer analysis. In this paper, a load transfer analysis was performed by using data obtained from bi-directional pile load tests for four cases of drilled shafts. For consideration of nonlinearity, elastic modulus was calculated by both the Fellenius method and the nonlinear method, assuming the stress-strain relation of concrete to be a quadratic function, and then, the calculated elastic modulus was applied to the estimation of shaft resistance. The calculated shaft resistances were compared with the result obtained using the constant elastic modulus of ACI code. It was found that the f-w curves are similar to each method, and elastic modulus and shaft resistances decreased as strain increased. Moreover, shaft resistances estimated from elastic modulus considering nonlinearity were 5~15% different than those obtained using the constant elastic modulus.

진동해머에 의해 시공되는 말뚝의 해석기법 제고 (Enhancement of the Technique for Analyzing a Pile Driven by Vibro Hammer)

  • 진동해머에 의해 시공되는 말뚝의 거동을 분석할 목적으로 개발된 기존의 프로그램을 개선하고자 하였다. 진동해머-말뚝-지반으로 구성되는 진동시스템의 기존 지배방정식에 지반저항의 댐핑효과와 클러치마찰력을 추가하였다. 또한, 개발된 해석기법의 하중전이곡선을 모사하는 수정 Ramberg-Osgood 모델의 매개변수를 재산정하여 해석기법을 개선하고자 하였다. 수정된 프로그램에 의한 해석결과를 현장시험결과와 비교해 볼 때 시간에 따른 말뚝의 변위 및 하중전이거동이 현장시험결과에 좀 더 유사하였다. 개발된 프로그램에 의한 말뚝 관입깊이별 관입속도를 상용 프로그램에 의한 결과 및 현장시험결과와 비교해 볼 때 상용프로그램보다 훨씬 더 현장시험결과에 가까웠다.

  • 최근 사용이 증가 추세에 있음에도 불구하고 마이크로파일의 하중전이곡선에 관한 연구는 매우 미미한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내지반 및 시공조건이 반영된 실물크기의 시험말뚝에 대한 현장시험을 실시하여 마이크로파일의 주면하중전이곡선을 산정하는 경험식을 제안하였다. 말뚝재하시험 결과로부터 깊이별 하중전이곡선을 구하고, 이를 쌍곡선 함수형태로 전환 시킨 후, 하중전이함수와 지반의 표준관입시험 저항치(N)와의 관계를 정립하였다. 이러한 일련의 과정을 거친 결과를 토대로 유한차분법과 문헌자료를 활용하여 개발된 하중전이함수로부터 풍화토에서 마이크로파일의 주면마찰력을 추정할 수 있음을 평가하였다.

Flexural behavior of partially-restrained semirigid steel connections

  • We analyzed the experimental and theoretical behavior of a particular type of steel joint designed to connect beam to beam and able to transfer both shear forces and bending moments. This joint is characterized by the use of steel plates and bolts enclosed in the width of the beams. The experimental investigation was carried out characterizing the constituent materials and testing in flexure beams constituted by two portions of beams connected in the middle with the joint proposed. Connections having different characteristics in terms of thickness of plates, number and type of bolts were utilized. Flexure tests allow one to determine the loaddeflection curves of the beam tested and the moment-rotation diagrams of the connections, highlighting the strength and the strain capacity of the joints. The proposed analytical model allows one to determine the moment-rotation relationship of the connections, pointing out the influence of the principal geometrical and mechanic characteristics of single constituents on the full properties of the joint.
