Objectives : The aims of this study were to identify life satisfaction of elderly living alone based on their health status and suggest measures that improve their physical, mental and oral health, which could be used in future welfare policies on the elderly. Methods : The study subjects were 307 senior citizens who lived alone and used senior citizen centers in Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do. Results : Life satisfaction tended to be high when the subjects had a low number of chronic diseases, no activity limitations and stress, no suicidal feelings, no tooth mobility and chewing difficulty and denture use. Conclusions : To improve life satisfaction, elderly living alone need to make effort to maintain their health however, policy programs that improve the physical, mental and oral health of the elderly need to be promoted.
A study of domestic furniture arrangements may reveal the living style relevant to the room as conceived and coded by occupants and the effects of the physical environment on the structure of behavior settings. The purpose of this study was to investigate, through analizing the furniture usage and behavior as a non-reactive and activity oriented behavioral measures, the occupants` domestic habits as a living style using MDS. MDS(multidimensional scaling technique) is a statistical technique for creating a spatial representation of data. It Is a particularly appropriate technique for analizing qualitative data such as the furniture usage and behavior because it takes into account all of the relationships between items. For the MDS analysis, the furniture usage and behavior examined by housing types based on 114 households in Seoul. The result of spatial configuration by MDS has three dimensions : recogn;lion of room function, pattern of room organization, understanding of room meaning. The effect of housing types for dimensions is identical but configuration of furniture items is different.

COVID-19 has challenged the pandemic response capability of many countries. Many governments around the world have imposed strict quarantine measures and border control to slow the spread of the virus. In the Philippines, the longest community quarantine has been imposed in the National Capital Region (NCR). However, the effectiveness of such measures is dependent on the cooperation of the public. The objective of this study was to gain an understanding of the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of selected employees in the NCR. An online survey was conducted June 4-18, 2020, with 100 employed people living in the NCR. Frequencies and percentages were computed to describe the respondents' answers, and the Kruskal-Wallis test was used to determine the differences in the respondents' KAP levels according to selected demographic characteristics. Of those surveyed, 92% have a high knowledge of COVID-19. The respondents have a positive attitude toward the need for health education and the seriousness of COVID-19, as well as stricter measures against the pandemic, but are less positive in terms of how the government is responding to the pandemic. They also follow strict measures that will prevent the further spread of the virus. The results highlight the respondents' favorability of stricter government measures to control the spread of COVID-19, including the reimposition of an enhanced community quarantine in the NCR.

Purpose: This phenomenological study tried to understand the essence of the transitional care experience of medicaid case managers and its structural meaning. In addition, it was attempted to establish a system of transitional care and seek support measures for medicaid case managers. Methods: The participants of this study were 7 medicaid case managers who had spent more than 1 year and 6 months in medicaid pilot project. Data were collected with individual in-depth interviews from June to December 2021. The data were analyzed by Giorgi's phenomenological analysis method. Results: The seven constituents derived from the results of this study were 'struggle to establish a living environment', 'dedication to supporting independent living', 'anxiety about safety', 'pressure on care responsibilities', 'distress in building the pilot project', 'pride in role', and 'expectation for improvement'. Conclusion: The study results provide a comprehensive understanding of the transition care reality for medicaid case managers. They also shed light on managers' perceptions and attitudes. These findings can serve as fundamental information for establishing support measures for medicaid case managers and transitional care systems.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to compare the effects of Tai Chi exercise program on arthritic pain, difficulties in performing activities of daily living, and fear of falling in women with osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Method: A quasi-experimental design with two intervention groups was used. According to the inclusion criteria, 35 women with OA and 22 with RA were recruited and participated in the Tai Chi for arthritis program for 12 weeks. In 12 weeks, 21 in the OA group and 15 in the RA group completed both pretest and posttest measures. Outcome variables consisted of pain, difficulties in performing activities of daily living, and fear of falling for both groups. Results: The women with OA (64 years) were significantly older and perceived better health than those with RA (49 years) with more than 6 years of diagnosis. The pain scores and the performance of activities of daily living were significantly improved in the OA group at the completion of 12 week Tai Chi exercise, but RA group decreased pain only. The improvements in pain and activities of daily living were significantly more in women with OA than those with RA. No significant changes were found in fear of falling for both groups. Conclusion: The 12 week Tai Chi exercise was more effective on pain and activities of daily living for women with OA than those with RA. Considering that the women with RA perceived more pain and had limited activities of daily living, Tai Chi exercise should be applied slowly and gradually for longer period of time than those with OA.
Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the personal and social environmental factors affecting leisure time physical activity (LTPA) among adults living in rural communities. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a convenience sample of 282 adults living in three rural towns of Chungcheongbuk province. Leisure time physical activity was assessed through the Korean version of the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), and social influence and social cohesion of social environment were assessed using reliable and validated measures. Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to explore personal and social environmental factors associated with LTPA. Results: The overall prevalence of leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) was 40.0%. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that LTPA participation was associated with gender (OR=2.60, 95% CI=1.47-4.58), healthy eating (OR=1.15, 95% CI=1.01-1.31), unhealthy eating (OR=0.70, 95% CI=0.53-0.93) and social influence for physical activity (OR=1.11, 95% CI=1.03-1.20). However, social cohesion was not correlated with engaging in LTPA. Conclusion: Both personal and social environmental factors are associated with LPTA among rural adults living in Eup-Myen regions. Interventions to promote LTPA would likely benefit from considering healthy dietary intake and social influence for physical activity.
In recent years, various policies have been conducted for the activation of the value chain for 6th industrialization of agriculture, which is aligned with creating job opportunities and start-up as well as value added enhancement. For this reason, this study seeks measures to kick-start application and development of a model to raise the success rate of startups and reduce the risk of market throughout surveying 168 6th industrialization management bodies about their start-up and business, and benchmarking of best practices, a case consistent with the value chain system of 6th industrialization of agriculture. Main findings are three-folds: First, it is necessary to raise the success rate of startups by means of the compatibility of the capital scale, low cost and life cycle of ideas. Second, the living lab for sharing ideas and collaboration is needed in the value chain system. Third, the living lab model is promoting rural community development and farm household income.

This study was conducted to examine the effects of the application of family-centered training over the 12-week period by the pediatric physiotherapist on functional balance and activities of daily living in children with cerebral palsy. Among the 26 children with cerebral palsy as the subjects were allocated to the experimental and control group. Both groups were subjected to neurodevelopmental treatment by the pediatric physiotherapist. The experimental group, participated in family-centered training program 3 times a week over a period of 12 weeks for the total of 36 sessions, functional balance and activities of daily living were verified through intergroup comparison. There was no significant difference between the outcomes prior to training and after 6 weeks of training, (p>.05) Pediatric Berg's Balance Scale(PBS) and Functional Independence Measure for children(Wee-FIM) increased significantly from those measures after 6 weeks to those after 12 weeks of training (p<.05). Therefore, these results suggest that on family-centered training on children with cerebral palsy has beneficial effects on functional movements and physical activities.
Recently, the daily life safety detection functionalities such as fall accident detection and burn danger detection are widely disseminated along with the development of IoT and smart home. These safety detection functionalities are mostly performed by artificial intelligence. However, simple accuracy measurement of the safety detection in laboratory environment is often far from practical performance in daily life environment. To mitigate this problem, this paper introduces two techniques, i.e. living lab and confusion matrix. Living lab is more than simple simulation of daily life environment, and it enables users to directly participate technology development and product design. Various performance measures induced from confusion matrix significantly help to evaluate the performance of artificial intelligence system for proper application purposes.
