Polyethylene-polystyrene 혼합물의 저온 열분해에 의한 액화특성 (Liquefaction Characteristics of Polyethylene-polystyrene Mixture by Pyrolysis at Low Temperature)

  • To investigate the synergy effect on the pyrolysis of mixture of polyethylene(PE) and polystyrene(PS), the pyrolysis of PE, PS and the mixture of PE-PS was carried out in a batch reactor at the atmospheric pressure and $450^{\circ}C$. The pyrolysis time was from 20 to 80 mins. The liquid products formed during pyrolysis were classified into gas, gasoline, kerosene, gas oil and heavy oil according to the distillation temperatures based on the petroleum product quality standard of Korea Institute of Petroleum Quality. The analysis of the product oils by GC/MS showed that the new components produced by mixing were not detected. The synergy effect according to mixing of PE and PS did not also appear. The conversion and yield of mixtures were in proportion to the mixing ratio of sample.

디젤-열분해유 유상액을 사용하는 직접분사식 디젤 엔진의 엔진성능 및 배기특성에 관한 연구 (Performance and Emission Studies in a DI Diesel Engine Fuelled with Diesel-Pyrolysis Oil Emulsion)

  • Pyrolysis oil (PO), also known as Bio crude oil (BCO), has the potential to displace significant amounts of fuels that are currently derived from petroleum sources. PO has been regarded as an alternative fuel for petroleum fuels to be used in diesel engine. However, the use of PO in a diesel engine requires modifications due to low energy density, high water contents, low acidity, and high viscosity of the PO. One of the easiest way to adopt PO to diesel engine without modifications is emulsification of PO with the fuels that has higher cetane number. However, PO that has high amount of polar chemicals is immiscible with non polar hydrocarbons of diesel. Thus, to stabilize a homogeneous phase of diesel-PO blends, a proper surfactant should be used. In this study, a DI diesel engine operated with diesel and diesel-PO emulsions was experimentally investigated. Performance and gaseous & particle emission characteristics of a diesel engine fuelled by diesel-PO emulsions were examined. Results showed that stable engine operation was possible with the emulsions and engine output power was comparable to diesel operation.

Progesterone 측정을 위한 액상(液相) 효소면역측정법(酵素免疫測定法)의 최적조건에 관한 연구 (Optimization of liquid phase enzyme immunoassay for determining of progesterone)

  • This study was carried out to develop an effective liquid-phase double antibody enzyme immunoassay for determining of progesterone. The optimum conditions of assay system, 1st and 2nd antibodies, enzyme conjugate, and time reaction were invested. The bovine plasma progesterone level in dairy cattle and korean native bulls were also analyzed. The results obtained were as follows; 1. The reproducibility of petroleum ether was superior to that of ethyl ether as extract solvent of progesterone in plasma. 2. The optimum dilution rate of 1st and 2nd antibody was 30,000 and 10 times, respectively. Affer the reaction of enzyme conjugate to progesterone 1st antibody, and then 2nd antibody competition reaction was enough for over 1hr. 3. Average plasma progesterone level in 4 pregnant and 9 nonpregnant Holstein was $2.5{\pm}0.5$ and $0.7{\pm}0.2ng/m{\ell}$, respectively. Average plasma progesterone level of 10 Korean native bulls was $0.1{\pm}0.001ng/m{\ell}$ From these results, by using liquid phase double antibody enzyme immunoassay for progesterone is applicable to detect of early pregnancy diagnosis, factorial analysis of reproductive disorder, and also reproductive physiological function such as monitoring of cyclicity during the post-partum period.

계절적, 지역적 온도 변화에 따른 석유류 체적의 변화 (Volume Variation of Liquid Fuel by Seasonal, Regional Temperature Changes)

  • 주유소에서 거래되는 액체 연료인 석유류는 온도 변화에 따라 팽창과 수축하게 된다. 석유류의 체적팽창계수는 약 $0.1%/^{\circ}C$이고, 우리나라의 기온은 겨울철에는 $-15^{\circ}C$, 여름철에는 $35^{\circ}C$까지 변한다. 온도 변화에 따른 체적의 변화가 석유류 거래에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 주유소에 저장된 연료와 주유되는 연료의 온도 변화를 측정하였다. 또 우리나라의 지난 50 년간의 일간, 월간, 년간 온도 변화를 고찰하였다. 지하 저장탱크의 유류 온도는 계절에 관계없이 하루 중 안정되게 유지되었다. 주유소 주위의 환경 조건과 위치, 주유 빈도등이 주유되는 유류의 온도에 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 건전한 석유류의 거래와 관련 법령의 제정에 활용될 것이다.

디젤연료의 액면화재로부터 화염온도와 복사열 측정 (Measurements of Flame Temperature and Radiation Heat Flux from Pool Fire with Petroleum Diesel Fuel)

  • 석유류 중에서도 차량, 선박, 보일러 등에 많이 사용되고 있는 디젤유는 휘발유나 등유보다도 연소시에 발열량이 높기 때문에, 화재 발생시에 큰 피해를 초래한다. 따라서 본 연구는 시중에 판매중인 디젤유을 이용하여 액면화재 실험을 하였으며, 연소시에 화염의 내부온도와 화염으로부터 발생되는 복사열에 대해서 측정하였다. 디젤유의 순간 최대화염온도는 $900^{\circ}C$ 이상되는 것으로 나타났으며, 평균 최대화염온도는 $800^{\circ}C$ 이상으로 나타났다. 또한 최대화염온도는 가연성 액체의 표면으로부터 5 H/D에서 나타났으며, 이 거리 보다 멀어질 수로 화염의 온도는 낮아졌다. 복사열의 경우 저장용기의 크기와 시료의 량에 따라서 크게 달라지는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 실험 용기의 크기가 0.5 m이고, 시료량이 13 mm와 20 mm에서는 각각 92.29 kW와 117.43 kW로 나타났으며, 크기가 1.0 m의 용기에서는 각각 364.35 kW와 405.88 kW로 나타났다.

Co 및 Mo 기반 촉매에 의한 폴리스티렌의 저온 열분해 특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on Characteristics of Polystyrene by Low Temperature Pyrolysis by using Co and Mo Dispersed Catalysts)

  • 본 연구는 폴리스타렌(PS) 수지의 유화공정 효율성 향상을 위해 저온열분해 회분식 반응기를 이용하여, 단일 PS 수지와 Co 및 Mo 촉매를 각각 첨가한 PS 수지를 반응온도(425, 450, $475^{\circ}C$), 반응시간(20~80분, 15분 간격), 촉매 농도변화에 따른 PS수지의 액화생성물 전환율을 측정하였다. 최적의 열분해 조건은 반응온도 $450^{\circ}C$, 반응시간 35분으로 판단되며, 전환된 액화생성물의 주요 성분은 GC/MS 분석결과 스타이렌 및 벤젠유도체가 대부분으로 나타났다. 생성물은 산업통상자원부에서 고시한 증류성상 온도에 따라 가스, 가솔린, 등유, 경유, 중유로 분류하여 그 수율을 측정하였다. 그리고 $450^{\circ}C$ 반응온도에서 촉매 사용에 따른 전환율은 Co 촉매 > Mo 촉매 > 무촉매 순이었으며, 생성물 중 가스, 등유, 경유수율은 Mo 촉매, 가솔린은 무촉매, 중유는 Co 촉매에서 우수한 것으로 나타났다. Co 및 Mo 촉매 혼합 농도별 전환율 및 열분해 생성물 수율은 Co 촉매 100% 사용 시 가장 우수한 것으로 판단된다.

팜유(Plam Oil)의 탈산소 공정 중 운전 조건이 생성물의 조성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of reaction conditions on composition of the organic liquid product during the deoxygenation process of palm oil)

  • 식물성 오일을 이용한 바이오 항공유의 제조공정에서 탈산소 반응의 적절한 운전조건 선정을 통한 생성물 물성 최적화는 최대의 바이오항공유 수율을 얻기 위해 필수적인 요소이다. 이에 따라 팜유의 탈산소화 반응이 1 wt.% $Pt/Al_2O_3$촉매가 장입된 내경이 1인치인 고정층 반응기에서 수행되었다. 업그레이딩 공정을 통하여 수송 연료로 활용될 수 있는 액체 생성물(organic liquid product)은 가스크로마토그래피 방법으로 그 조성을 분석하였다. 피드 내의 팜유/수소 비율과 수소 압력은 탈카르복실레이션과 수첨탈산소 반응에 영향을 주어 생성물의 조성 변화를 초래하였다. 반응 온도가 증가함에 따라 탈산소 생성물의 연속적 크래킹 반응이 촉진되어 $C_5{\sim}C_{14}$영역의 생성물 조성이 증가하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 팜유의 탈산소화 반응 특성의 이해 뿐 아니라 연속 공정인 수첨 업그레이딩 공정을 통한 바이오 항공유의 제조에 도움을 줄 수 있다.

  • The liquefied petroleum gas(LPG), mixture of propane and butane, has the potential to reduce toxic hydrocarbon emissions and inhibit ozone formation due to its chemical composition. Conventional mixer systems, however, have problems in meeting the future lower emission standards because of the difficulty in controlling air-fuel ratio precisely according to mileage tar accumulation. Liquid Phase LPG injection(LPLi) system has several advantages in more precise fuel metering and higher engine performance than those of the conventional mixer type. On the other hands, leakage problem of LPLi system at the injector tip is a main obstacle for meeting more stringent future emission regulations because these phenomena might cause excessive amount of THC emission during cold and hot restart phase. The main focus of this paper is the development of a leaked fuel recirculation system, which can eliminate the leaked fuel at the intake system with the activated carbon canister. Leaked fuel level was evaluated by using a fast response THC analyzer and gas chromatography. The result shows that THC concentration during cold and hot restart stage decreases by over 60%, and recirculation system is an effective method to meet the SULEV standard of the LPLi engine.

In situ isolation and characterization of the biosurfactants of B. Subtilis

  • Crude oils are essential source of energy. It is majorly found in geographical locations beneath the earth's surface and crude oil is the main factor for the economic developments in the world. Natural crude oil contains unrefined petroleum composed of hydrocarbons of various molecular weights and it contains other organic materials like aromatic compounds, sulphur compounds, and many other organic compounds. These hydrocarbons are rapidly getting degraded by biosurfactant producing microorganisms. The present study deals with the isolation, purification, and characterization of biosurfactant producing microorganism from oil-contaminated soil. The ability of the microorganism producing biosurfactant was investigated by well diffusion method, drop collapse test, emulsification test, oil displacement activity, and blue agar plate method. The isolate obtained from the oil contaminated soil was identified as Bacillus subtilis. The identification was done by microscopic examinations and further characterization was done by Biochemical tests and 16SrRNA gene sequencing. Purification of the biosurfactant was performed by simple liquid-liquid extraction, and characterization of extracted biosurfactants was done using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The degradation of crude oil upon treatment with the partially purified biosurfactant was analyzed by FTIR spectroscopy and Gas-chromatography mass spectroscopy (GC-MS).

자동차용 LPG 연료펌프의 윤활성 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Lubrication Characteristics for Fuel Pump in LPG Engine)

  • In recent years, the need for more fuel-efficient and lower-emission vehicles has driven the technical development of alternative fuels such as LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) which is able to meet the limits of better emission levels without many modifications to current engine design. LPG has a high vapor pressure and lower viscosity and surface tension than diesel and gasoline fuels. These different fuel characteristics make it difficult to directly apply the conventional gasoline or diesel fuel pump. Self acting lubricated groove design or coating can be used in high-speed and high precision spindle system like a roller-vane type fuel pump, because of its advantages such as low frictional loss, low heat generation, averaging effect leading better running accuracy and simplicity in manufacturing. Those design method can also affect the atomization of fuel from the injector and the formation of fuel film on the intake manifold. In this study, experiments are carried out to get performance characteristics of initial and steady state operation, The characteristics of vane type fuel pump were investigated to access the applicability on LPLi engine.
