평면 캠-링크 기구의 설계 소프트웨어 개발

  • For a linkage mechanism deiven by cam, cam profile is the major design factor and is determined by the motion type od cam follower. If a cam mechanism has additional kinematic linkages besides cam and follower then the follower motion should be specified form the motion of end linkage member so that cam would be able to generate the desired end linkage motion. In this paper, a cam-linkage mechanism is constructed with the combinations of modular linkage elements including cam and follower and as a resullt, a planar cam-linkage mechanism design software with the cam profile optimization function is developed and presented.

  • A linkage mechanism is a device to convert an input motion into a desired output motion. Traditional linkage mechanism designs are based on trial and error approaches so that size or shape changes of an original mechanism often result in improper results. In order to resolve these problems, an improved automatic mechanism synthesis method that determines the linkage type and dimensions by using an optimization method during the synthesis process has been proposed. For the synthesis, a planar linkage is modeled as a set of rigid blocks connected by zero-length translational springs with variable stiffness. In this study, the sizes of rigid blocks were also treated as design variables for more general linkage synthesis. The values of spring stiffness and the size of rigid block yielding a desired output motion at the end-effecter are found by using an optimization method.

  • In this paper, we designed the 6-wheeled mobile robot (6-WMR) with the passive linkage mechanism which enables 6-WMR to passively adapt to the given stairs. To overcome the limit of adaptability to the terrain of conventional WMR and improve the energy efficiency, we proposed the new WMR using the passive linkage mechanism. The passive linkage mechanism consists of the simple four-bar linkage mechanism which allows 6-WMR to climb stairs with adaptability and an additional link which is connected to the four-bar linkage mechanism by a pin-slot joint to enable 6-WMR to passively go up the stairs.   • Elasto-dynamic deformation of flexible linkage mechanism was analyzed using the finite element method. A computer program was constructed and applied to analyze a specific crank-level 4-bar mechanism, in which the elasto-dynamic deformation of the mechanism system was obtained using mode superposition method in the case of constant input speed and the effect of geometric stiffness on the mechanism is included. Experimental verification of numerical results was conducted by measuring the elasto-dynamic deformation of mid-points of coupler and lever for the 4-bar lingkage mechanism using high speed camera and image data processing systeem. For the elasto-dynamic deformation at the lever mid-point, the numerical results including geometric stiffness almost agree with the experimental ones. However, the numerical results excluding geometric stiffness good agree with the experimental ones at the couper mid-point.

Optimal Design of Klann-linkage based Walking Mechanism for Amphibious Locomotion on Water and Ground (수면 지면 동시보행을 위한 Klann 기구 기반 주행메커니즘 최적설계)

  • Walking mechanisms are very important for legged robots to ensure their stable locomotion. In this research, Klann-linkage is suggested as a walking mechanism for a water-running robot and is optimized using level average analysis. The structure of the Klann-linkage is introduced first and design variables for the Klann-linkage are identified considering the kinematic task of the walking mechanism. Next, the design problem is formulated as a path generation optimization problem. Specifically, the desired path for the foot-pad is defined and the objective function is defined as the structural error between the desired and the generated paths. A process for solving the optimization problem is suggested utilizing the sensitivity analysis of the design variables. As a result, optimized lengths of Klann-linkage are obtained and the optimum trajectory is obtained. It is found that the optimized trajectory improves the cost function by about 62% from the initial one. It is expected that the results from this research can be used as a good example for designing legged robots.

  • The mechanism synthesis methods, graphical, analytical and computer-aided technique have been proposed for selecting and scaling mechanical system. According to developing computation tools, mechanism could be synthesized much faster and more correct than previous analytical ways by improved techniques. In this paper, the improved synthesis method is proposed to solve body guidance synthesis problem. To perform the mechanism synthesis for body guidance, a planar linkage is modeled as a set of free three bushings located in design space. The values of bushing stiffness and x, y position of bushings yielding a desired functional requirement related to input motion are found by using an optimization technique.

  • In this study, important design factors in Jansen leg mechanism by which two legs can be driven by only one input like a motor are considered through method of transmitting motion in three-bar linkage and Grashof law in four-bar linkage. In preliminary design, by using EDISON m-sketch and its simulation which can observe trace of feet, two identical four-bar linkages are initially designed and two three-bar linkages are added to four-bar linkages sequentially. By analyzing GL(Ground Length) and GAC(Ground Angle Coefficient), the adequacy of the preliminary design was estimated. Final design of walking apparatus is implemented using CAD software, Assembly2 of EDISON Designer. Finally, proposals to improve software used in this study are suggested.

  • Since 4-bar linkage widely used in various industrial fields has a fixed link length, it is inconvenient to add an independent link structure or control device to change the movement of output link. Therefore, this paper proposes a new concept of variable 4-bar linkage mechanism to selectively adjust the movement of the output link to fit desired situations, and applied to the commercial table fans, which is a representative product using a 4-bar linkage system. The optimal rotation angle steps for efficiency are determined experimentally and the appropriate lengths of linkage to fit each step are calculated analytically. Changes in the linkage length are implemented by the rotational motion using a grooved cylindrical cam and the feasibility of the proposed variable linkage mechanism is verified through fabrication and measurement. The presented variable link mechanism is expected to improve the efficiency of industrial robots and fuel valve systems.
