This paper proposes fast millimeter-wave (mm-wave) beam training protocols with receive beamforming. Both IEEE standards and the academic literature have generally considered beam training protocols involving exhaustive search over all possible beam directions for both the beamforming initiator and responder. However, this operation requires a long time (and thus overhead) when the beamwidth is quite narrow such as for mm-wave beams ($1^{\circ}$ in the worst case). To alleviate this problem, we propose two types of adaptive beam training protocols for fixed and adaptive modulation, respectively, which take into account the unique propagation characteristics of millimeter waves. For fixed modulation, the proposed protocol allows for interactive beam training, stopping the search when a local maximum of the power angular spectrum is found that is sufficient to support the chosen modulation/coding scheme. We furthermore suggest approaches to prioritize certain directions determined from the propagation geometry, long-term statistics, etc. For adaptive modulation, the proposed protocol uses iterative multi-level beam training concepts for fast link configuration that provide an exhaustive search with significantly lower complexity. Our simulation results verify that the proposed protocol performs better than traditional exhaustive search in terms of the link configuration speed for mobile wireless service applications.
Link-16 is a data link that provides joint interoperability to the US Navy, Air Force and NATO. Currently, the military relies entirely on foreign SW and tools for test environment, tactical simulation training and interoperability verification test for Link-16 operation. Therefore, it is necessary to develop Link-16 based operation environment test tool. In this paper, Link-16 network operational performance analysis simulator was developed by analyzing the function of Link-16 foreign tools. It also implements the SIMPLE standard interface for interworking with foreign SW and tools. The functional model for Link-16 network operation performance analysis consists of pre-analysis, real-time operational analysis, and post-analysis functional model. Each functional model test was performed through SIMPLE interworking with foreign SW and tools. Link-16 network operation performance analysis If we replace foreign SW through simulator, we can perform tactical training, network design verification and operation (scenario) verification for our military.

The purpose of this study is to develop three Judo-doll systems for enhancement of Judo's performance. Traditional Judo training requires a human training partner. Unfortunately it is not always easy to find one. Multifunctional Judo-doll training system has therefore been developed, and is described here. The system consists of a dummy, a power generating mechanism, and kinematic links. The power-generating mechanism generates forces similar to those of a human, by adjusting deadweights and controlling powderbrake's forces. The powderbrake force is controlled by the microprocessor according to the exercise scenario. The kinetic links, which mimic a human training partner's motions, has been developed based on a $Vicon^{TM}$ system's analysis of the movement of human training partners. This mechanism whose name is "L link-wire" consists of L type links, wire, roller, and dead weight. This mechanism generates the force that leads the link to the neutral position regardless the link is pushed or pulled. The lifting mechanism that lifts the doll when the one-armed shoulder throw skill is applied is also developed. A 32-bit microprocessor controls the whole system; it reads the loadcell data, controls the electromagnetic force, and communicates with a PC via Bluetooth. The training history, including loadcell data, date, and training time, is stored in the PC for analysis. This training system can be used to enhance the Judo performance of any self training player.

This paper proposes a new capacitance estimation scheme for a DC-link capacitor in a three-phase AC/DC/AC PWM converter. A controlled AC voltage with a lower frequency than the line frequency is injected into the DC-link voltage, which then causes AC power ripples at the DC side. By extracting the AC voltage and power components on the DC output side using digital filters, the capacitance can then be calculated using the Support Vector Regression (SVR). By training of SVR, a function which relates a given input (capacitor's power) and its corresponding output (capacitance value) can be derived. This function is used to predict outputs for given inputs that are not included in the training set. The proposed method does not require the information of DC-link current and can be simply implemented with only software and no additional hardware. Experimental results confirm that the estimation error is less than 0.16%.
Recently, due to Industry 4.0, there is a great interest in smart factory for productivity improvement and customer satisfaction in manufacturing industry, and construction is also actively pursued by government support. In particular, data integration and fieldbus communication technology to build an efficient production system are essential. Fieldbus is an open control system that is not tied to a specific vendor system and has various advantages such as compatibility with other products, accuracy of data transmission, and remote diagnosis. However, there are no educational equipment for training field buses, training courses and examples for practical training, and there are many limitations in improving the practical skills needed for building smart factories in the industrial field. Therefore, this study develops PLC based fieldbus education equipment and training course based on previous research results that selected PLC and communication technology suitable for domestic industry field for practical fieldbus training and develops the training program of Ethernet IP, Profibus DP, Modbus, CC-Link, and DeviceNet. In addition, it is confirmed that the control and remote diagnosis of distributed field devices are possible by data collection and monitoring.

Link-to-column connections in Eccentrically Braced Frames (EBFs) have critical role in their safety and seismic performance. Accordingly, in this study, contribution of supplemental stiffeners on hysteretic behavior of the link-to-column connection is investigated. Considered stiffeners are placed on both sides and parallel to the link web between the column face and the first stiffener of the link. Hysteretic behaviors of the link beams with supplemental stiffeners are numerically investigated using a pre-validated numerical model in ANSYS. It turned out that supplemental stiffeners can change energy dissipation mechanism of intermediate links from shear-flexure to shear. Both rectangular and trapezoidal supplemental stiffeners are studied. Moreover, optimal placement of the supplemental stiffeners is also investigated. Obtained results indicate a discrepancy of less than 9% in maximum link shear of the numerical and experimental specimens. This indicates that the numerical results are in good agreement with those obtained from the test. Trapezoidal supplemental stiffeners improve rotational capacity of the link. Moreover, use of two supplemental stiffeners at both ends of the link can more effectively improve hysteretic behavior of intermediate links. Supplemental stiffeners would also alleviate the imposed demands on the connections. This latter feature is more pronounced in the case of two supplemental stiffeners at both ends of the link.

Nearest-neighbor classification predicts the class of an input data with the most frequent class among the near training data of the input data. Even though nearest-neighbor classification doesn't have a training stage, all of the training data are necessary in a predictive stage and the generalization performance depends on the quality of training data. Therefore, as the training data size increase, a nearest-neighbor classification requires the large amount of memory and the large computation time in prediction. In this paper, we propose a prototype selection algorithm that predicts the class of test data with the new set of prototypes which are near-boundary training data. Based on Tomek links and distance metric, the proposed algorithm selects boundary data and decides whether the selected data is added to the set of prototypes by considering classes and distance relationships. In the experiments, the number of prototypes is much smaller than the size of original training data and we takes advantages of storage reduction and fast prediction in a nearest-neighbor classification.

Positions of tactical objects are represented as Time, Space and Position Information(TSPI) in modeling and simulations(M&S). The format and required information record for TSPI is investigated by referring the TSPI object model of the Test and Training Enabling Architecture(TENA), which has been developed by the United States Department of Defense. The most sophisticated tactical data link, Link-16 has a Precise Participant Location and Information (PPLI) message. We study the data format for exchanging TSPI data based on the PPLI message. To evaluate and track positions of tactical objects, we consider the Kalman filter for linear systems, and the extended Kalman filter and the unscented Kalman filter for nonlinear systems. Based on motion equations of a ballistic missile, the tracking performance for the trajectory of the ballistic missile is simulated by the unscented Kalman filter.

The study aims to explore the possible link between lifelong education and local education·training projects to enhance vocational skills. To this end, we first looked at vocational training in lifelong educational institutions. We looked at the areas of lifelong education presented by the Lifelong Education Act and the status of job improvement in them, as well as the actual number of learners across the country. Next, we looked at local education training projects. In this case, We investigated the significance and type of education·training projects, and identified the number of programs and the number of learners. Looking at them, we looked for five possibilities the possible link of between vocational abilities and educational·training projects. The five were to strengthen employment related lifelong learning of the economically inactive population, to strengthen lifelong education related to the underprivileged people, to enhance vocational skills for lifelong education centered on the employed, to utilize lifelong education institutions and universities in the region, and to strengthen the role of local governments to guide local job demands and suppliers.

In this paper, we present Beamforming (BF) Training (BFT) for asymmetric links in IEEE 802.11ay. IEEE 802.11ay introduced BFT for asymmetric links that aims to increase the BFT success probability for Station (STA) with insufficient link budget to communicate with an Access Point (AP). BFT for asymmetric links utilizes directional BFT allocation to avoid the usage of quasi-omni pattern at the AP side, and thus to increase STA's BFT success rate. However, there are no publicly available simulation tools supporting IEEE 802.11ay. For these reasons, we present in this paper an implementation of BFT for asymmetric links in ns-3 with its novel techniques such as Training RX (TRN-R) subfield and BFT allocation. We then evaluate by simulation the performance of BFT for asymmetric links.
