Digital Predistortion Technique for MIMO Transmitters (MIMO 송신기에서 결합한 되먹임 신호에 기반한 디지털 전치왜곡 기법)

  • An adaptive digital predistortion (PD) technique is proposed for linearization of power amplifiers (PAs) in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmitters. We consider a PD structure equipped with only one combined feedback path while conventional systems have multiple feedback paths. Hence, the proposed structure is much simpler than that of multiple feedback paths. Based on the structure, a new PD algorithm is derived. The simulation results show that linearization performance of the proposed method is almost the same as the conventional multiple feedback technique while the former is much simpler to implement than the latter.

  • The WKB method has been widely used in evaluating of the propagation characteristics of planar waveguides with graded-index profiles. This method, however, yields large errors when a turning point is near or at the discontinuity in the presence of the index discontinuity or index slope discontinuity. Especially, in the case of a truncated-index profile, this phenomenon appears more clearly in the low-order modes and near the cutoff regions. The MWKB method is introduced to reduce these inherent errors of the conventional WKB method. The MWKB method is based on both the linearization of the index profile from an index discontinuity and the introduction of a virtual turning point. It is noticed that the b-v curves obtained by the MWKB method agree well with those of the finite-difference method, and that the phase shift at a turning point depends on both the index profile and its propagation constant.   • In this study, a method of nonlinear dynamic analysis of suspension bridges subjected to random wind loads is pre.sented. The nonlinearity considered is the one due to the interaction between the motion of the bridge girder and the tertsion variation of the main cables. The equation of motion is formulated using a continuum approach. The coupling between the vertical and torsional motions are included in the analysis. The equation of motion is solved by using the mode superposition method. The analysis is carried out in the frequency domain utilizing the stochastic linearization technique on to the modal equations. In the linearization procedure, the nonlinear terms are approximated as linear ones with constant terms. The verification of the method has been performed on a case with four modal degrees of freedom. Example analyses are carried out on two suspension bridges for various wind speeds and wind force parameters. Numerical results indicate that, by including the nonlinearity into the analysis, the dynamic responses of the bridges, particularly in the vertical direction, change considerably.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to obtain a linear characteristic using soft computing for systems which have array sensors of nonlinear characteristics. Also a procedure utilizing the pattern information of array sensors without additional sensors is proposed to reduce disturbance effects. For a typical example, even a single CdS cell for CdS array has nonlinear characteristics. Overall linear characteristic for CdS array is obtained using fuzzy logic for each cell and overlapped portion. In addition, further improvement for linearization is obtained applying genetic algorithms for the parameters of membership functions. Also the effect of disturbing external light changes to the CdS array can be reduced without using any additional sensors for calibration. The proposed method based on fuzzy logic shows improvements for position measurements and disturbance reduction to external light changes due to the fuzziness of the shadow boundary as well as the inherent nonlinearity of the CdS array. This improvement is shown by applying the proposed method to the ball position measurements of a magnetic levitation system.

  • Two representative finite volume methods, i.e., the time marching method and the pressure correction method, were applied to 8 centrifugal compressor impeller flows, with low to very high level of pressure ratio, among which 7 impellers' experimental performance is given in the open literature. The present study is focused on the prediction differences from both methods, developed by the authors, in the pressure correction method's point of view. In all cases, the time marching method gives a satifactory solution, but the pressure correction method does not. Up to about $18\%$ less level of total-to-total pressure ratio is predicted by the pressure correction method as the level of the impeller pressure ratio increases up to about 10. The drop of total pressure ratio is caused by the underestimation of static pressure rise which seems to be attributed to inappropriate linearization and discretization of the pressure/density coupling terms in the pressure correction equation.

  • In this paper, A Feedforward Linear Power Amplifier for IMT-2000 which IMD characteristics was improved was designed and fabricated. To improve the main power amplifier IMD characteristics, the Feedback loop was added to basic Feedforward Power Amplifier structure. Therefore, the output power of error amplifier can be reduced, and it is easy to control the linearization circuit to cancel total IMD. The designed power amplifier represented the 40㏈m(l0W) output power and -55㏈C 3rd IMD at Center frequency 2.14㎓ (@5㎒).

  • In this paper, the speed controller of permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) using the RBF neural (NN) disturbance observer is proposed. The suggested controller is designed using the input-output feedback linearization technique for the nominal model of PMSM and incorporates the RBF NN disturbance observer to compensate for the system uncertainties. Therefore the proposed algorithm is robust against the uncertainties of the system. Finally, the computer simulation is rallied out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • 불규칙 해상에서 선박의 큰 횡요각의 예측이 중요한 과제로 대두 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 통계적 해석에 의한 이의 예측 방법을 제시한다. 즉 주어진 비 선형 횡요운동 방정식으로 부터 배의 횡요각과 각속도의 결합 확률 밀도 함수를 구하는 방법을 도입하고 각종 계수들의 값의 변화에 따른 예측 결과를 다른 논문에서 제시한 시뮬레이션 결과와 비교하였다.

  • Variable structure control is applied to the robust output tracking control problem of general nonlinear multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems. Using the concept of relative degree and minimum phase, input/output(I/O) linearization is undertaken. For I/O the linearized system, a new sliding hyperplanes design method is proposed. In this procedure, we can construct very robust and efficient sliding mode controller for general nonlinear systems of relative degree higher than two. The control results are illustrated by adopting a numerical example.

  • We study the adaptive stabilization of the Van der Pol equation. A parameter update law is designed by the immersion and invariance method, and is used in conjunction with both the feedback linearization and backstepping control laws. Simulation results show that the responses obtained in the adaptive case are very similar to the known parameter case, and the parameter estimator converges to the true value.
