The main objective of the present study is to achieve linear temperature distribution of cooling surface of plunger. K type thermocouples are attached at the surface of plunger to measure temperature. Nozzle and insulating material are inserted in the pin hole of the plunger for this study. Cooling water flow enters at one nozzle and leaves at three nozzles. Flow through nozzle can be activated in the pin hole, temperature of hot point around hole is decreased. Meanwhile, insulating material blocks off heat transfer, temperature of cold point around hole is increased. By combination of nozzle and insulation, heat transfer of hole is controlled effectively, as result its, temperature of plunger surface shows linear temperature distribution.
The market demand of display devices is drastically increasing in the information technology age. The research on OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) display with the luminescence in itself is being more paid attention than LCD (Liquid Crystal display) with the light source from the back. The vapor deposition process is most essential in manufacturing OLED display. The temperature distribution of the linear cell in this process is closely related to securing the uniformity of organic materials on the substrate. This work analyzed the temperature distribution depending on the intervals between the crucible and the heating band as well as on the amount of the heat flux from the heating band. Moreover, the roles of the water jacket and the configuration of the cover within the linear cell were examined through the temperature analysis for six configurations of the linear cell. Under the above temperature analysis, the variations in the intervals and the amount of the heat flux were considered to have an effect on building the uniform temperature distribution within the crucible. It is predicted that the water jacket and the adequate configuration of the cover will prevent the blowout and clogging phenomena, respectively. The results can be used as the fundamental data for designing the optimal linear cell.

The environmental load of concrete pavement can be categorized by temperature and moisture loads, which mean temperature distribution, and drying shrinkage and creep in the concrete slab. In this study, a method calculating the environmental load essential to mechanistic design of airport concrete pavement was developed. First, target area and design slab thickness were determined. And, the concrete temperature distribution with slab depth was predicted by a pavement temperature prediction program to calculate equivalent linear temperature difference. The concrete drying shrinkage was predicted by improving an existing model to calculate differential shrinkage equivalent linear temperature difference considering regional relative humidity. In addition, the stress relaxation was considered in the drying shrinkage. Eventually, the equivalent linear temperature difference due to temperature and the differential shrinkage equivalent linear temperature difference due to moisture were combined into the total equivalent linear temperature difference as terminal environmental load. The environmental load of eight civilian and two military airports which represent domestic regional weather conditions were calculated and compared by the method developed in this study to show its application.

Heat Transfer with periodic fluctuation of fluid temperature caused by oscillatory flow or compression expansion can be out of phase with balk fluid-wall temperature difference. Newton's law of convection is inadequate to describe this phenomenon. In order to solve this problem the concept of the complex Nusselt number has been introduced by severla researchers. The complex Nusselt number expresses out of phase excellently while the first harmonic is dominant in the variations of both fluid-wall temperature difference and heat flux. However, in the case of oscillatory flow with non-linear wall temperature distribution, the complex Nusselt number is not appropriate to predict the heat transfer phenomena since the higher order harmonic components appear in periodic temperature variation. Analytic solutions to the heat transfer with an sinusoidal well temperature distribution were obtained to investagate the effect of non-linear wall temperature distribution. A new formula considering the thermal boundary layer was suggested based on the solutions. A comparison was also made with the complex Nusselt number. It was verified that the new formula describes well the heat transfer of oscillating flow even if the first harmonic component is not dominant in the fluid-wall temperature difference.
The OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) display recently used for the information indicating device has many advantages over the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), and its demand will be increased highly. The linear cell should be designed carefully considering the uniformity of thin film on the substrate. Its design needs to compute the temperature field analytically because the uniformity for the thin film thickness depends on the temperature distribution of the source (organic material). In the present study, the design of the linear cell will be modified or improved on the basis of the temperature profiles obtained for the simplified linear cell. The temperature distributions are numerically calculated through the STAR-CD program, and the grids are generated by means of the ICEM CFD program. As the results of the simplified linear cell, the temperature deviation was shown in the parabolic form among the both ends and the center of the source. In order to reduce the temperature deviation, the configuration of the rectangular ends of the crucible was modified to the circular type. In consequence, the uniform temperature is maintained in the range of about 90 percent length of the source. It is expected that the present methods and results on the temperature analysis can be very useful to manufacture the vapor deposition device.

It is widely accepted that the reading mechanism of Super-RENS(super-resolution near field structure) and Super-ROM(super-resolution read only memory) is closely related with non-linear temperature dependent material properties such as refractive indices, phase change. Furthermore, the dynamic change of the temperature distribution also an essential part of reading mechanism of Super-RENS/ROM. Therefore, the knowledge of the temperature distribution as a function a time is one of the important keys to reveal the physics of reading mechanism in Super-RENS/ROM. We calculated time-dependent temperature distribution in a 3-dimensional Super-ROM disk structure when moving laser beam is irradiated. With a help of commercial software FEMLAB which employed finite element method, we simulated the temperature distribution of ROM structure whose pit diameter is 120-nm with 50-nm depth. Energy absorption by moving laser irradiation, time variations of heat transfer processes, heat fluxes, heat transfer ratios, and temperature distributions of the complicate 3-dimensional ROM structure have been obtained.

This study used four theoretical models, such as two-point linear model, linear regression model, quadratic regression model and cubic regression model which are presented from The Ministry of Science and Technology, for extraction of urban surface temperature from Landsat TM band 6 image. Through correlation and regression analysis between result of four models and AWS(automatic weather station) observation data, this study could verify spatial distribution characteristic of urban surface temperature using GIS spatial analysis method. The result of analysis for surface temperature by landcover showed that the urban and the barren land belonged to the highest surface temperature class. And there was also -0.85 correlation in the result of correlation analysis between surface temperature and NDVI. In this result, the meteorological environmental characteristics wuld be regarded as one of the important factor in urban planning.
The present study proposes a theoretical and numerical investigation on the dynamic response behaviour of a functional graded (FG) ceramic-metal tapered rotor shaft system, by the differential quadrature finite elements method (DQFEM) to identify the natural frequencies for modelling and analysis of the structure with suitable validations. The purpose of this paper is to explore the influence of heat gradients on the natural frequency of rotation of FG shafts via three-dimensional solid elements, as well as a theoretical examination using the Timoshenko beam mode, which took into account the gyroscopic effect and rotational inertia. The functionally graded material's distribution is described by two distribution laws: the power law and the exponential law. To simulate varied thermal conditions, radial temperature distributions are obtained using the nonlinear temperature distribution (NLTD) and exponential temperature distribution (ETD) approaches. This work deals with the results of the effect on the fundamental frequencies of different material's laws gradation and temperature gradients distributions. Attempts are conducted to identify adequate explanations for the behaviours based on material characteristics. The effect of taper angle and material distribution on the dynamic behaviour of the FG conical rotor system is discussed.
The purpose of this study is to verfify a more effecive techique for calculating geothermal gradient. this study examines 370 data of temperature-logging having been collected since 1985. The daya are divided into three different grades grades according to the type of temperature-depth plots: 204 data show typical linear gradient (Grade A); 126 data do not explicitily show the gradient becase of various external effects such as water flow (Grade B); and the rest 40 data do not show the gradient at all (Grade D). The new technique for calculating geothermal gradient is to be required to use Greade-B data more effctiviely. This new technique includes (1) calculating the independer depth of atmospheric temperature in the earth; (2) drawing a distribution map of subsurface tempurature by using the distribution map of subsurface temperature by using Grade-A data at the independent depth; and (3) recalculating geothermal gradient of Grade-B data by using the distrbution map of subsurface temperature, borehole depth, and bottom temperature of Grade-B data by using the distribution map of subsurface temperature, borehole depth, and bottom temperature of Grade-B data. As a result, 330 data-both Grade-A and Grade-B data--can be used to draw a distribution map of hot spradient. The map clearly distinguishes anomaly areas, and helps interpret their relations to the distribution of hot springs, geology, geological structures, and geophysical anomaly areas. These new results reveal that the average of geothermal in south Korea is 25.6$^{\circ}C$/km, when calculated to the Kriging method.
Stability of laminated plate under thermal load varied linearly along thickness, is developed using a higher order displacement field which depend on a parameter "m", whose value is optimized to get results closest to three-dimension elasticity results. Hamilton, s principle is used to derive equations of motion for laminated plates. These equations are solved using Navier-type for simply supported boundary conditions to obtain non uniform critical thermal buckling and fundamental frequency under a ratio of this load. Many design parameters of cross ply and angle ply laminates such as, number of layers, aspect ratios and E1/E2 ratios for thick and thin plates are investigated. It is observed that linear and uniform distribution of temperature reduces plate frequency.
