  • This paper presents a linear state feedback control approach to the stabilization of discrete-time uncertain systems with bounded uncertain parameters. The approach is based on the LQ(linear quadratic) regulator theory and Lyapunov's stability analysis. Asymptotically stable behavior is guaranteed in the presence of parameter uncertainties, and the upper bound of the performance index is determined.

  • In this study simply supported nonlinear Euler-Bernoulli beams resting on linear elastic foundation and subjected to the axial loads is investigated. A new kind of analytical technique for a non-linear problem called He's Energy Balance Method (EBM) is used to obtain the analytical solution for non-linear vibration behavior of the problem. Analytical expressions for geometrically non-linear vibration of Euler-Bernoulli beams resting on linear elastic foundation and subjected to the axial loads are provided. The effect of vibration amplitude on the non-linear frequency and buckling load is discussed. The variation of different parameter to the nonlinear frequency is considered completely in this study. The nonlinear vibration equation is analyzed numerically using Runge-Kutta $4^{th}$ technique. Comparison of Energy Balance Method (EBM) with Runge-Kutta $4^{th}$ leads to highly accurate solutions.

  • Buckling and post-buckling Analysis of Ludwick type and modified Ludwick type elastic materials was carried out. Because the constitutive equation, or stress-strain relationship is different from that of linear elastic one, a new governing equation was derived and solved by $4^{th}$ order Runge-Kutta method. Considered as a special case of combined loading, the buckling under both point and distributed load was selected and researched. The final solution takes distinguished behavior whether the constitutive relation is chosen to be modified or non-modified Ludwick type as well as linear or non-linear. We also derived strain energy function for non-linear elastic constitutive relationship. By doing so, we calculated the criterion function which estimates the stability of the equilibrium solutions and determines critical buckling load for non-linear cases. We applied this theory to the constitutive relationship of fabric, which also is the non-linear equation between the applied moment and curvature. This results has both technical and mathematical significance.

  • The linear compressor has lately attracted considerable attention because of its low power consumption and excellent efficiency. For an efficient design, it is necessary to develop an analytical model of the linear compressor. The effective flow and force areas are important parameters to describe the behavior of the linear compressor, which are used to determine the mass flow rates through the valving systems and the forces on the valves, respectively. It is not easy to estimate these parameters because shapes of the valve systems of the linear compressor are so different from those of tile conventional valve systems. In this paper, we suggest method to measure experimentally the effective discharge flow and force areas of the linear compressor and analyze valve characteristic to apply the experimental results to their theoretical model.

  • Equivalent linear method indirectly reflects a variation of shear modulus(G/Gmax) and damping ratio $(\xi)$ by selects mean value of every response analysis. Existing equivalent linear method does not properly consider variation of shear strain along frequencies and uses mean value. Real dynamic soil behavior is affected by shear stiffness and damping ratio. Modified equivalent linear method is developed to consider variation. Modified equivalent linear method can reflects high strain at low frequency and low strain at high frequency by using an easement curve. This study presents propriety of method by case study.

  • Linear motors are efficient mechanism that offers high speed and positioning accuracy. By eliminating mechanical transmission mechanisms such as ball screw or rack-pinion, much higher speed and greater acceleration can be achieved without backlash or excessive friction. However, an important disadvantage of linear motor system is its high power loss and heating up of motor and neighboring machine components on operation. For the application of the linear motors to precision machine tools an effective cooling method and thermal optimizing measures are required. This paper presents an investigation into the thermal behavior of linear motors with the objective of deriving the optimum cooling conditions. To reach these goals several experiments were carried out, varying operating and cooling conditions. From the experimental results, this research proposed cooling conditions to improve the thermal characteristics of the linear motors.

  • In this study, analysis of creep-fatigue behavior of low alloy steel weld was performed. An interface was employed along the crack plane to simulate the interface between base metal and weld metal. A trapezoidal waveshapes was loaded cyclically and analysis result was compared with that of monotonic load. The material was assumed as elastic-plastic-secondary creeping material. Because the isotropic hardening plasticity model used in the last study cannot simulate the behavior of material under cyclic load, the linear kinematic hardening plasticity model was used. The behavior of strain field and $C_{t}$ parameter was obtained.d.

  • Buckling behavior of stiffened laminated composite cylindrical panel was studied using linear and nonlinear deformation theory. Various buckling load factors are obtained for stiffened laminated composite cylindrical panels with rectangular type longitudinal stiffeners and various longitudinal length to radius ratio, which made from Carbon/Epoxy USN150 prepreg and are simply-supported on four edges under uniaxial compression. Buckling behavior design analyses are carried out by the nonlinear search optimizer, ADS.

  • A digital adaptive flight control system is presented for a Japanese automatic landing flight experiment vehicle (ALFLEX). In previous adaptive control systems based on a linear-parameter-varying (LPV) form, the output behavior was excellent, while the behavior of the adjusted parameters was unsatisfactory. In the present study, to obtain a more appropriate parameter adjustment law, the relationship between the coefficient matrices in a continuous-time state equation and the coefficients of a pulse transfer function in a discrete system for conventional aircraft is investigated. As a result, it is revealed that the coefficients of the numerator can be treated as a linear function of dynamic pressure (linear-parameter-varying: LPV), while the coefficients of the denominator can be treated as constant (linear-time-invariant: LTI). From the above analysis, an improved parameter adjustment law is derived by reducing the number of the adjustment parameters. Simulation results also revealed both good output tracking and good parameter adjustment compared with the previous results.
