The existing ULTC operation control strategy based on the measured data deteriorates the voltage compensation capability making the efficient corresponding to the load variation difficult by following the fixed load center point voltage. Accordingly, this paper proposes a new on-line fuzzy ULTC controller based on the designed multiple load center points which can improve the voltage compensation capability of ULTC and minimize voltage deviation by moving in real-time the load center point according to the load variation to an adequate position among the multiple load center points designed using the clustering technique. The Max-Min distance technique is adopted as the clustering technique for the decision of multiple load points from measured MTr load current and PTr voltage, and the minimum distance classifier is adopted for the decision of fuzzy output membership function. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, Visual C++ MFC-based simulation environments is developed. Finally, the superiority the proposed strategy is proved by comparing the fuzzy ULTC operation control results based on multiple load center points with the existing ULTC operation control results based on fixed load center point using the data for three day.
This paper proposes a new control method for an AC-DC Buck converter which is utilized as a front-end converter of a 2-stage high power density adapter. In the conventional adapter applications, 2-stage configuration shows higher power transfer efficiency and higher power density than those of the single stage flyback converter. In the 2-stage AC-DC converter, the boost converter is widely used as a front-end converter. However, an efficiency variation between high AC line and low AC line is large. On the other hand, the proposed conduction band control method for a buck front-end converter has an advantage of small efficiency variation. In the proposed control method, switching operation is determined by a band control voltage which represents output load condition, and an AC line voltage. If the output load increasesin low AC line, the switching operation range is expanded in half of line cycle. On the contrary, in light load and high line condition, the switching operation is narrowed. Thus, the proposed control method reduces switching loss under high AC line and light load condition. A 60W prototype which is configured the buck and LLC converter with the proposed control method is experimented on to verify the validity of the proposed system. The prototype shows 92.16% of AC-DC overall efficiency and 20.19 W/in 3 of power density.
The systematic and effective design method of a Class-D current-source resonant inverter for use in an induction cooker with zero-ripple line current is presented. The design procedure is based on the principle of the Class-D current-source resonant inverter with a simplified load network model that is a parallel equivalent circuit. An induction load characterization is obtained from a large-signal excitation test-bench based on parallel load network, which is the key to an accurate design for the induction cooker system. Accordingly, the proposed scheme provides a systematic, precise, and feasible solution than the existing design method based on series-parallel load network under low-signal excitation. Moreover, a zero-ripple condition of utility-line input current is naturally preserved without any extra circuit or control. Meanwhile, a differential-mode input electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter can be eliminated, high power quality in utility-line can be obtained, and a standard-recovery diode of bridge-rectifier can be employed. The step-by-step design procedure explained with design example. The devices stress and power loss analysis of induction cooker with a parallel load network under large-signal excitation are described. A 2,500-W laboratory prototype was developed for $220-V_{rms}/50-Hz$ utility-line to verify the theoretical analysis. An efficiency of the prototype is 96% at full load.

Stable and sustainable power supply means maintaining a certain level of power quality and service while securing energy resource and resolving environmental issues. Distributed generation (DG) has become an essential and indispensable element from environmental and energy security perspectives. It is known that voltage violation is the most important constraint for load variation and the maximum allowable DG. In distribution system, sending voltage from distribution substation is regulated by ULTC (Under Load Tap Changer) designed to maintain a predetermined voltage level. ULTC is controlled by LDC (Line Drop Compensation) method compensating line voltage drop for a varying load, and the sending voltage of ULTC calls for LDC parameters. The consequence is that the feasible LDC parameters considering variation of load and DG output are necessary. In this paper, we design each LDC parameters determining the sending voltage that can satisfy voltage level, decrease ULTC tap movement numbers, or increase DG introduction. Moreover, the maximum installable DG capacity based on each LDC parameters is estimated.
In this paper, the track impact factor of conventional line was evaluated using the data for wheel load measured in field and the properties of current operating trains. The equation for track impact factor was presented through the statistical analysis of variational ratio in wheel load and compared with other design equations in domestic and foreign countries. A review on the safety of track system in conventional line was made from the relationship between the velocity and the corresponding impact factor. It was found that the impact factor from the proposed equation is a little less than the values from the equations adopted in both AREA and domestic railway, while it is same as the equation for continuous welded rail(CWR) in Japan. Therefore it could be said that the track satisfies a criteria for dynamic load caused by the train and the corresponding level of safety is guaranteed for dynamic load of the train
Normally, various auxiliary loads are installed along with the main load in industrial applications. Usually, load transformers are used to convey such types of auxiliary loads. The transformers become energized when the loads are turned-on, consequently, high amplitude of inrush current appears at the output of the uninterrupted power supply (UPS) system. To mitigate these high current amplitudes, this manuscript suggests a three-phase line-interactive UPS system to counter the inrush current during the turning-on of the auxiliary load transformer while powering the main load by using a current controlled inverter. Experimental results of a laboratory-sized prototype are provided in the support of the proposed UPS system for validation.
An analysis of dynamic responses is carried out on monoclinic anisotropic system due to a buried harmonic line source. The load is in the form of a normal stress acting along an arbitrary axis on the plane of symmetry within the orthotropic materials: In case that the line load is acting along the symmetry axis normal to the plane of symmetry, plane wave equation is coupled with verital shear wave and longitudinal wave. However, if the line load is acting along an arbitrary axis normal to the plane of symmetry, plane wave equation is coupled with vertical shear wave, longitudinal wave and horizontal shear wave. We first considered the equation of motion in a reference coordinate system, where the line load is coincident with a symmetry axis of the orthotropic material. Then the equation of motion is transformed into one with respect to general coordinate system with azimuthal angle by using transformation tensor. Plane wave solutions of monoclinic systems are derived for infinite media. Finally complete solutions for the plane harmonic wave are obtained by calculating the inverse of the integral transforms, in which bulk wave poles are avoided by deforming the contour of the integration to the complex plane. Numerical results for examples of orthotropic material belonging to monoclinic symmetry are demonstrated.

Sudden voltage drops and outages frequently disturb the operation of sensitive loads for domestic, commercial, and industrial use. In some cases, these events may even impair the functioning of relevant equipment. To maintain power under such conditions, a UPS system is usually installed. Once a disturbance happens at the grid side, the line-interactive UPS system takes over the load to prevent an interruption. But, due to magnetic saturation of the transformer, a significant inrush current may occur for the transformer-coupled loads during this transition. The generation of such transient currents may in turn decrease the line voltage and activates over-current protecting devices of the system. In this work, a cost-effective, line-interactive UPS system is proposed that eliminates the inrush current phenomenon associated with transformer-coupled loads. The strategy was implemented by connecting a standard current-regulated voltage source inverter (CRVSI) to the secondary winding of the load transformer. During any transient condition at the grid side, the load current is monitored and regulated to achieve either seamless compensation of the load current or complete transferal of load from grid to the inverter. Experimental results were obtained for a prototype under all possible operating conditions so as to validate the performance of the proposed topology.

Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) techniques have been greatly worthy of notice for efficiently increasing transmission capacity as well as controlling load-flow in overhead transmission lines, in comparison with the existing power system operating with Static Line Rating (SLR). This paper describes an utilization method to implement DLR control system for old transmission lines built in the first stage using the ground clearance design standard with lower dips. The suggested DLR system is focused on designing as temperature control system rather than current/load control system. Based on several performance for conductor temperatures, it is shown that DLR system with efficiency can be implemented.
At the coupling area linking high speed line and conventional line, according to distance between trains due to speed limit of conventional line, the power load of substation supplying to this conventional line increase. At the coupling area between Kimcheon SS and Kyoungsan SS, train operation have problems caused by instantaneous voltage drop. So, this paper propose evaluation method of maximum load capacity at current normal feeding condition.
