In the conventional load flow technique, it is assumed that the generator at the slack bus is used to supply the transmission losses and the change of power due to the generator outage. The assumption is not true in physical sense. This paper presents a new load flow technique that considers the governor-frequency characteristics and load-frequency characteristics and the technique is consistent with the actual power system phenomenon. This paper proposes an efficient methodology using sensitivity with the new technique for contingency analysis, which is used to calculate the line flows. Computational results of this technique applied to IEEE 14-bus system are presented.
This paper presents a new algorithm for the countermeasure to alleviate the line overloads due to contingency without shedding loads in a power system. This method for relieving the line overloads by line switching is based on obtaining the kine outage distribution factors-the linear sensitivity factors, which give the amount of change in the power flow of each line due to the removal of a line in a power system. There factors are made up of the elements of sparse bus reactance matrix and brach reactances. In this paper a fast algorithm and program is presented for obtaining only the required bus reactance elements which corresponds to a non-zero elements of bus admittance matrix, and elements of columns which correspond to two terminal buses of the overloaded(monitored) line. The proposed algorithm has been validated in tests on a 6-bus and the 30-bus test system.
This paper presents a simple method for evaluating of voltage stability using the line flow equation. Line flow equations($P_{ij}$, $Q_{ij}$) are comprised of state variable, $V_i$, ${\delta}_i$, $V_j$ and ${\delta}_j$, and line parameter, r and x. Using the feature of polar coordinate, these equations become one equation with two variables, $V_i$ and $V_j$. Moreover, if bus j is slack bus or generator bus, which is specified voltage magnitude, it becomes One equation with one variable $V_i$, that is, may be formulated with the second-order equation for $V_i^2$. Therefore, solutions are obtained with simple computation. Solutions obtained are used for evaluating of voltage stability through sensitivity analysis. Also, considering of reactive power source, method for evaluating the voltage stability is introduced. The proposed method was validated to 2-bus and IEEE 6-bus system.
Switching of the transmission lines(T/L) is one of the ways for suppressing the short circuit capacity. This paper presents the extended optimal power flow(OPF) to the problem of selecting the T/Ls to be open. The constraints of the short circuit currents within limits are added to the inequalities of OPF. Also, the overload on the other lines due to switching of T/Ls is avoided by the linearized inequalities. The number of the open lines can be minimized by incorporating into the objective function of OPF in order to maintain reliability. The method of an effective calculation of the extended OPF is also proposed in this paper, which makes the two parts decoupled. The one concerning the generation dispatch is solved in the first place by the conventional method. Secondly, the other concerning the line-switching is optimized by the proposed formulation.
In this paper, we propose the generalized on-line economic dispatch algorithm including transmission loss. it was derived from the process developing matrix form of the classic ELD problem. it can rapidly calculate generation power using transmission loss and transmission loss sensitivity calculated from the result of power flow analysis. Transmission loss sensitivity ${\partial}P_{loss}/{\partial}P_G$ is derived using optimization technique.
The effect of flow conditions on flow measurement is difficult to identify from the inherent characteristics of the flowmeters and flow standard system. A new experimental approach has been attempted to detect the turbine meter error due to inlet flow conditions. In this try not only the design of the turbine meter package but also the data analysis method was altered. It was found that k factor slope of the turbine meter responds to the change of flow conditions in the test line with higher sensitivity than the degree of the data scattering. The flow standard system of $0.1m^3/s$ was chosen for the investigation. The systematic and random error of the system were less than ${\pm}0.08%$ and ${\pm}0.13%$ respectively.
The mean-line method using empirical models is the most practical method of predicting off-design performance. To gain insight into the empirical models, the influence of empirical models on the performance prediction results is investigated. We found that, in the two-zone model, the secondary flow mass fraction has a considerable effect at high mass flow-rates on the performance prediction curves. In the TEIS model, the first element changes the slope of the performance curves as well as the stable operating range. The second element makes the performance curves move up and down as it increases or decreases. It is also discovered that the slip factor affects pressure ratio, but it has little effect on efficiency. Finally, this study reveals that the skin friction coefficient has significant effect on both the pressure ratio curve and the efficiency curve. These results show the limitations of the present empirical models, and more resonable empirical models are reeded.
Grid connected transformerless solar power generation system is frequently used with the benefits of cost and efficiency. However, significant DC leakage current can flow from the DC line into the ground with dielectric breakdown in the transformerless solar power generation system. The leakage current occurred in the DC line causes accidents such as fire and electric shock on human. To resolve this problem, high sensitivity DC leakage current sensor is needed. But recently the studies on safety of DC line are not performed. In this paper, a high sensitivity DC leakage current sensor that can detect DC leakage current in solar power generation system, is proposed. Based on the studies, DC leakage current sensor is fabricated and characteristic tests are carried out. Finally, the accuracy of sensor performance is verified by leakage current experiments in solar power generation system.
This paper presents a new simplified method for finding the multiple load flow solutions and through their solutions the voltage stability can be evaluated. Line flow($P_{ij}$, $Q_{ij}$) may be formulated with the second-order equations for $V_{i}^{2}$ in polar coordinates or two circle equations for $e_{i}$ and $f_{i}$ in rectangular coordinates. Based on this feature, multiple load flow solutions are calculated with simple works, results of multiple load flow solutions are used for sensitivity analysis of voltage stability. Also, in the case that reactive power sources is considered, method of evaluating the voltage stability is introduced. The proposed method was validated to 2-bus and IEEE 6-bus system.
