This study performed an assessment of wave power potential in the Kangwon and Dongnam regions encompassing the East Sea and part of South Sea. Annual electricity production and economic effects of 28 wave energy converters with 750kW capacity were analyzed using significant wave height and peak wave period data(created from the NOAA's NWW3 model) and InVEST software(developed by Stanford University and University of Minnesota). Annual electricity production was estimated to be up to 1,207MWh/year and at least 163MWh/year. The spatial pattern of annual electricity production showed that the sea far from land has higher wave power potential than the sea near coast. The net present value(NPV) of 28 wave energy converters was calculated by considering an operation period of 25 years. When assuming that the electricity produced from wave energy converters is transferred to onshore power plants through underwater cables, the NPV was estimated to be up to 5,883USD(6,600,000KRW) and at least -63,494USD(-71,000,000KRW). In contrast, the NPV increased up to 28,095 USD(31,600,000KRW) when assuming that the electricity is utilized in the Ulleungdo and Dokdo. In addition, it was found that the break-even line of NPV in the East Sea becomes closer towards the land according to the increment of electricity price. The NPV of wave energy converters near the Ulleungdo and Dokdo will be 88,158 USD(99,000,000KRW) if the increment of electricity price is 100KRW.

Periodontitis results from the activation of host immune and inflammatory defense responses to subgingival plaque bacteria, most of which are gram-negative rods with lipopoly-saccharides (LPSs) in their cell walls. LPSs have been known to induce proinflammatory responses and recently it was reported also that they induce the expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) in host cells. In our current study therefore, we aimed to examine and compare the miRNA expression patterns induced by the LPSs of major periodontopathogens in the human gingival epithelial cell line, Ca9-22. The cells were treated with 1 ${\mu}g$/ml of E. coli (Ec) LPS or 5 ${\mu}g$/ml of an LPS preparations from four periodontopathogens Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), Prevotella intermedia (Pi), Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa), and Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn) for 24 h. After small RNA extraction from the treated cells, miRNA microarray analysis was carried out and characteristic expression profiles were observed. Fn LPS most actively induced miRNAs related to inflammation, followed by Aa LPS, Pi LPS, and Ec LPS. In contrast, Pg LPS only weakly activated miRNAs related to inflammation. Among the miRNAs induced by each LPS, miR-875-3p, miR-449b, and miR-520d-3p were found to be commonly up-regulated by all five LPS preparations, although at different levels. When we further compared the miRNA expression patterns induced by each LPS, Ec LPS and Pi LPS were the most similar although Fn LPS and Aa LPS also induced a similar miRNA expression pattern. In contrast, the miRNA profile induced by Pg LPS was quite distinctive compared with the other bacteria. In conclusion, miR-875-3p, miR-449b, and miR-520d-3p miRNAs are potential targets for the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal inflammation induced by subgingival plaque biofilms. Furthermore, the observations in our current study provide new insights into the inflammatory miRNA response to periodontitis.
Ameloblasotma is slowly growing, locally invasive neoplasm with a potentially destructive behavior. The epithelium of ameloblastoma is thought to have an intrinsic growth potential and has been shown to present a higher rate of proliferation as compared to odontogenic cysts with low local recurrence rate. The molecular mechanisms that regulate the cell growth and invasion of ameloblastoma cells are unknown. Bcl-2 protein, which prevent apoptosis, is expressed in immortalized ameloblastoma cell line(AM-1)(Harada et al 1998). Expression of bcl-2 protein occurs in tooth germs, whose epithelial component may act as the histogenic precursor of ameloblastoma. Bax is considered as a main effector of apoptosis. Bax forms homodimers and also heterodimers with bcl-2. p53 tumor supressor gene participates not only in cell proliferation control but also in induction of apoptosis. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the apoptosis related protein expression in odontogenic cyst and ameloblastoma. A total of 10 dentigerous cysts and 16 ameloblastomas were used in the present study. Dentigerous cyst showed negative or slight positive for p53 and bcl-2 but strongly positive for bax, ameloblastoma, on the other hand, strongly positive for p53 and bcl-2 but weekly positive for bax. Bcl-2 was expressed for ameloblastoma mainly in outer layer or whole layer of epithelium and for dentigerous cyst mainly in basal layer. The difference in expression of apoptosis related protein in dentigerous cyst and ameloblastoma might explain the peculiar aggressive growth pattern of ameloblastoma.
In this paper, we propose an image generator for OLED panel test that can compensate for color coordinates and luminance by using panel defect inspection and optical measurement while displaying images on OLED panel. The proposed image generator consists of two processes: the image generation process and the process of compensating color coordinates and luminance using optical measurement. In the image generating process, the panel is set to receive the panel information to drive the panel, and the image is output by adjusting the output setting of the image generator according to the panel information. The output form of the image is configured by digital RGB method. The pattern generation algorithm inside the image generator outputs color and gray image data by transmitting color data to a 24-bit data line based on a synchronization signal according to the resolution of the panel. The process of compensating color coordinates and luminance using optical measurement outputs an image to an OLED panel in an image generator, and compensates for a portion where color coordinates and luminance data measured by an optical module differ from reference data. To evaluate the accuracy of the image generator for the OLED panel test proposed in this paper, Xilinx's Spartan 6 series XC6SLX25-FG484 FPGA was used and the design tool was ISE 14.5. The output of the image generation process was confirmed that the target setting value and the simulation result value for the digital RGB output using the oscilloscope matched. Compensating the color coordinates and luminance using optical measurements showed accuracy within the error rate suggested by the panel manufacturer.
The major objective of this study was to develop further understanding of 3D nearshore hydrodynamics under a variety of wave and tidal forcing conditions. The main tool used was a comprehensive 3D numerical model - combining the flow module of Delft3D with the WAVE solver of XBeach - of nearshore hydro- and morphodynamics that can simulate flow, sediment transport, and morphological evolution. Surf-swash zone hydrodynamics were modeled using the 3D Navier-Stokes equations, combined with various turbulence models (${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$, ${\kappa}-L$, ATM and H-LES). Sediment transport and resulting foreshore profile changes were approximated using different sediment transport relations that consider both bed- and suspended-load transport of non-cohesive sediments. The numerical set-up was tested against field data, with good agreement found. Different numerical experiments under a range of bed characteristics and incident wave and tidal conditions were run to test the model's capability to reproduce 3D flow, wave propagation, sediment transport and morphodynamics in the nearshore at the field scale. The results were interpreted according to existing understanding of surf and swash zone processes. Our numerical experiments confirm that the angle between the crest line of the approaching wave and the shoreline defines the direction and strength of the longshore current, while the longshore current velocity varies across the nearshore zone. The model simulates the undertow, hydraulic cell and rip-current patterns generated by radiation stresses and longshore variability in wave heights. Numerical results show that a non-uniform seabed is crucial for generation of rip currents in the nearshore (when bed slope is uniform, rips are not generated). Increasing the wave height increases the peaks of eddy viscosity and TKE (turbulent kinetic energy), while increasing the tidal amplitude reduces these peaks. Wave and tide interaction has most striking effects on the foreshore profile with the formation of the intertidal bar. High values of eddy viscosity, TKE and wave set-up are spread offshore for coarser grain sizes. Beach profile steepness modifies the nearshore circulation pattern, significantly enhancing the vertical component of the flow. The local recirculation within the longshore current in the inshore region causes a transient offshore shift and strengthening of the longshore current. Overall, the analysis shows that, with reasonable hypotheses, it is possible to simulate the nearshore hydrodynamics subjected to oceanic forcing, consistent with existing understanding of this area. Part II of this work presents 3D nearshore morphodynamics induced by the tides and waves.
Objective: To examine the efficacy of letrozole in infertile women showing a poor endometrial development at previous ovulation induction cycle by using clomiphene citrate. Methods: Eighteen infertile women were selected who showed a poor endometrial development (endometrial thickness$\leq$6.5 mm) after clomiphene treatment (50~100 mg) as ovulation induction for timed coitus. The mean age of the patients was $30.7{\pm}2.8$ years old and the mean duration of infertility was $33.1{\pm}26.6$ months. The infertility factors were identified as corrected endometriosis (n=1), polycystic ovary syndrome (n=5) and unexplained (n=12). Letrozole was given orally in a dose of 2.5 mg for 5 days starting 3~5 of menstrual cycle. Results: The number of follicles was significantly lower in the letrozole cycle when compared with previous clomiphene cycle ($1.1{\pm}0.3$ vs. $2.2{\pm}1.5$, p=0.011). The endometrial thickness (mm) at the time of triggering or LH surge was significantly greater in the letrozole cycle ($8.4{\pm}1.7$ vs. $5.8{\pm}0.5$, p<0.001). The endometrial pattern 'type C' was significantly higher in the letrozole cycle (94.4% vs. 50%, p=0.036). The pregnancy was achieved in 11.1% of the letrozole cycle. Conclusion: Use of letrozole was associated with more thick and improved endometrium than previous clomiphene cycles in which thin endometrium was identified. Use of letrozole appears to be an effective strategy for second-line treatment in women with inadequate endometrial response to clomiphene.

In this study, to examine the causes of cracks in continuously reinforced concrete tracks (CRCTs) and the main factors affecting cracking, a field survey on the status of cracks and crack patterns in the Gyeong-bu high speed line was conducted, and the crack patterns of CRCT due to the temperature difference between the top of the slab (TCL) and the bottom of the subbase (HSB) and the drying shrinkage of concrete were predicted by a nonlinear finite element model considering the structure of CRCT. The results of the numerical analysis show that cracks will be developed at the interface between the sleeper and the TCL, and under the sleeper due to the temperature difference and concrete shrinkage. This corresponds well to the crack locations found in the field. Also, it is found that the most significant factors are the coefficient of thermal expansion with respect to the temperature difference, and the drying shrinkage strain with respect to shrinkage. According to the results, the reinforcement ratio should be carefully determined considering the structures of CRCT because the crack spacing is not always proportional to the reinforcement ratio due to the sleepers embedded in the TCL.
A review of this literature and discussions reveal a development of ideas concerning the elements of nursing models. The elements of a nursing model are the nurses view of the human being, nursing's goal, and nursing activities. It has long been recognized that human beings, at one time or another, require nursing care. Varieties of literature were reviewed in regard to the human being as recipient of nursing care through the theory development in nursing. Florence Nightingale initiated the modern era of nursing and described more clearly man as the recipient of nursing care. She looked at man as responding to the laws of nature whether the person was healthy or sick. Henderson added to Nightingale's concept of man , the recipient of nursing care by emphasizing that man is a whole, complete, and independent being. Her view is further specified by her enumeration of the activities the human being must perform. Johnson has developed a very comprehensive view of man as the recipient of nursing care. Man is a behavioral system which has a tendency to achieve and maintain stability in patterns of functioning. Like Nightingale, Johnson sees that similar patterns occur in both health and illness. Johnson postulates that the whole behavioral system of the human is composed of eight sub-systems: affiliative, achievement, aggressive, dependency, eliminative, ingestive, restorative, sexual. Roger's main contribution to the development of nursing models was her emphasis upon unitary man. She pointed out that man is a unified whole, possessing his own integrity and manifesting characteristics that“are more than and different from the sum of his parts.”Rogers focuses on the life processes of the human and points out that these processes have the following characteristics. Wholeness, openness, unidirectionality, pattern and organization, sentence, and thought. According to Roy, man is a biopsychosocial being in constant interaction with a changing environment. To cope with this changing environment, man has certain innate and acquired mechanisms. Man's ability to respond positively or to adapt, depends upon the degree of the change taking place and the state of the person coping with the change. When she analyzes man as an adaptive organism she further describes man as being composed of four adaptive modes: physiological needs, self-concept, role function, and interdependence. Based on the literary review through the theory development in nursing, general approach by a unified nursing model to a view of the recipient of nursing care may be stated as follows: Man is a unified whole composed of subsystems with a flexible and normal line of defense; his internal regulating mechanisms help him to cope with a changing environment; he functions by the principles of homeodynamics.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the indications of bionator in Class II division 1 malocclusion, The 48 subjects were classified into good result group(group1) and poor result group(group2) in reference to posttreatment molar relation, posttreatment overbite and overjet, posttreatment profile, and relapse. Pretreatment lateral cephalograms were calculated and evaluated by t-test stepwise discriminant analysis. The results were as follows ; 1. In jaw bone relationship, ANB, facial convexity angle, AB to facial plane angle were significantly different between two treatment groups. In denture pattern, L1 to facial plane, L1 to A-Pog, FMIA, and U1 to facial plane were significantly different and m soft tissue profile, protuberance of lower lip and upper lip were significantly different between tw o treatment groups. 2. The results in according to discriminant analysis stated that L1 to facial plane, ANB, FMIA and protuberance of lower lip help prediction of treatment result of bionator. 3. 3 major influential variables were obtained by stepwise discriminant analysis - L1 to facial plane, articular angle and ANB difference. And Fisher discriminant function was made by these three major variables.

The purpose of this research was to investigate whether pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) stimulation applied to the rabbit cranial defects grafted with ${\beta}$-tricalcium phosphate (${\beta}$-TCP) could affect the new bone formation. With 16 New Zealand white rabbits under the same condition, bilateral calvarial bone defects were formed around the sagittal suture line. The defect on the left side was grafted with ${\beta}$-TCP, while on the right side was grafted by harvested autogenous bone. PEMF was applied to 8 rabbits for 8 hours per day. The bony specimen were divided into 3 groups, the group 1 was autogenous bone grafted specimen, the group 2 was ${\beta}$-TCP grafted with PEMF, and the group 3 was ${\beta}$-TCP grafted without PEMF. We investigated the bone regeneration & growth factor expression at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks. As a result, BMP 2 was expressed in the group 1 from 2 weeks, the group 2 from 4 weeks, and the group 3 from 6 weeks. BMP 4 was expressed in the group 1 from 2 weeks, in the group 2 and the group 3 from 4 weeks. 4. There was no significant difference in expression pattern of BMP 7, PDGF, VEGF, and TGF-${\beta}$1 during grafted bone regeneration in group 1, 2, and 3. According to our results, PEMF stimulation could be effective on the new bome formation in animal study, and have a feasibility of clinical use.
