  • The line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor has a high efficiency and an advantage in constant speed operation regardless of the effect of load variation. However it is difficult to predict the performance of characteristics accurately, because of the unbalanced starting torque with the initial starting position of the rotor and the generation of a break torque. In this paper the dynamic characteristics of the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor are described and compared with those of the squirrel-cage induction motor through the simulation to find the characteristics of the permanent magnets and the rotor bars in the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor.

High Efficiency Drive Technique for Synchronous Reluctance Motors Using a Neural Network

  • A high efficiency drive technique for synchronous reluctance motors (SynRM) using a neural network (NN) is presented in this paper. High efficiency drive condition depends on the mathematical model of SynRM. A NN is employed as an adaptive model of SynRM. The proposed high efficiency drive technique does not require an accurate mathematical model of SynRM. Moreover, the proposed method shows robustness against machine parameter variations because the training algorithm of the NN is executed on-line. The usefulness of the proposed method is confirmed through experimentation.

  • To add alloying elements into a pure copper melt, the wire-feeding efficiency of cored (alloy containing) wire was evaluated using a commercial, computational fluid-dynamics program. The model design was based on an industrial-scale production line. The variables calculated included wire feed rate, melt temperature, wire diameter, melt flow rate and wire temperature. Efficiency was evaluated after a series of calculations based on the penetration depth of the alloy-wire into the molten copper bath. Of the five variables investigated, the wire feed rate and wire diameter were the most influential factors affecting the feeding efficiency of the cored-wire.

  • It is good to use DEA method as it can measure the efficiency without depending on a specific function like cost function. The method also finds out the most efficient group among the sample groups and gives us a specific number. For example, it shows what kind of factor of inefficient group gives how much input and produces how much output. Originally DEA, which was developed by Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes, allows us not only to measure the relative efficiency of Decision Making Units(DMUs) of non-profit organizations whose success cannot be measured by a single bottom-line figure such as profit but also to integrate several variables, which have different measuring scale, into a single model. Therefore we can use physical scales and financial scales simultaneously in the same model without any transformation process. In this study, price and measurable performance indexes of vehicles are used as input and outputs respectively. The purpose of this study is to propose an effective approach for evaluating the relative efficiency of vehicles and to determine the vehicles have high performance efficiency compared to product cost.

  • This paper proposes a fuzzy tuning PID controller for straight line type inverted pendulum. The conventional PID controller which is used widely in industrial field has fatal drawback on determining control gains for practical system. The proposed controller tunes the gains automatically based on fuzzy urle derived from the experience of expert operator. The results of simulation and experiment show the efficiency of the proposed control method comparing with conventional PID control method in terms of rising time, overshoot, and overall errors.

Broadband Impedance Matching Circuit Design for PLC Coupler Using Tchebycheff Equalizer

  • This paper is about design broadband impedance matching circuit for Coupler to improve power transfer efficiency in the power line communication (PLC) system. The Tchebycheff gain function algorithm is represented to design broadband matching circuit. A practical PLC Coupler impedance matching circuit is designed, and the characteristics for S11 and S21 of PLC coupler are enhanced comparing with unmatched one. This is done by maximizing the power transfer gain from modem to the load.

  • This paper represents design broadband impedance matching circuit for Coupler to improve power transfer efficiency in the broadband power line communication(BPLC) systems.   • The design characteristics of circular vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers are studied by using a newly developed equivalent network. Optical parameters, such as the stop-band or the reflectivity of periodic mirrors and the resonance wavelength, are explored for the design of these structures. To evaluate the differential quantum efficiency and the threshold current density, a transverse resonance condition of modal transmission-line theory is also utilized. This approach dramatically reduces the computational time as well as gives an explicit insight to explore the optical characteristics of circular vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs).

  • Owing to the strike of lightning a breakage of insulator would happen. This breakage may give rise to many problems such as increment of reclosing failure, a drop for reliance and a hardship of maintenance and repair. To solve those problem, this study develop a protected equipment for insulator which is suitable to 22.9[kV] distribution line towers and is purposed to investigation for a Proper adaption, Protection efficiency of insulator and effect of adaption.

  • Electric industry has been the object of major reforms in many countries. These reforms are aimed at attaining efficiency through competition. Thus network companies do not charge transmission cost for line user the same as method at past. This paper presents a transmission cost allocation through reliability differentiated transmission pricing in competitive electric industry. The proposed method considers only the line capacity affecting the reliability of transmission pricing under normal state and contingency state.
