하천수에서 LC-ESI-MS/MS에 의한 극미량 농약류 및 합성원료의 동시분석법 (Simultaneous Determination of Ultra-Trace Pesticides and Synthetic Materials in Surface Water by LC-ESI-MS/MS)

  • 하천수 중에 7가지의 농약류(2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, 메소밀, 알디캅, MCPA, molinate, 카바릴, 카보퓨란)와 2가지의 합성원료(quinoline, 비스페놀-A)를 액체크로마토그래피 전자분무 이온화 질량분석법(liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry, LC-ESI-MS/MS)을 사용하여 분석하였다. 분석물질들은 고체상 추출법(solid-phase extraction, SPE)을 사용하여 추출하였다. 용리액은 질소가스로 농축하였다. 잔여물에 30% 메탄올 수용액 100 μL를 재 용해시켜 0.2 μm PTFE 실린지 필터로 거른 후 그 일부를 LC-ESI-MS/MS에 직접 주입하여 분석하였다. 확립된 조건에서 검정곡선은 0.997 이상의 상관계수를 갖는 직선성을 보였다. 정량한계는 0.002~0.011 μg/L 이었고, 정밀도는 16.4% 이하였다. 또한 정확도는 84~107%의 범위를 보였고, 회수율은 56.2~98.6% 값을 나타내었다. 본 연구에서 개발한 분석법을 실제 하천수 분석에 적용하였다.

Determination of Betaine in Fructus Lycii Using Hydrophilic Interaction Liquid Chromatography with Evaporative Light Scattering Detection

  • A simple new method was developed for the determination of betaine in Fructus Lycii using hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography with evaporative light scattering detection (HILIC-ELSD). Good chromatographic separation and reasonable betaine retention was achieved on a Kinetex HILIC column ($2.1{\times}100mm$, $2.6{\mu}m$) packed with fused-core particle. The mobile phase consisted of (A) acetonitrile and (B) 10 mM ammonium formate (pH 3.0)/acetonitrile (90/10, v/v). It was used with gradient elution at a flow rate of 0.7 mL/min. The column temperature was set at $27.5^{\circ}C$ and the injection volume was $10{\mu}L$. The ELSD drift tube temperature was $50^{\circ}C$ and the nebulizing gas (nitrogen) pressure was 3.0 bar. Stachydrine, a zwitterionic compound, was used as an internal standard. Calibration curve over $10-250{\mu}g/mL$ showed good linearity ($R^2$ > 0.9992) and betaine in the 70% methanol extract of Fructus Lycii was well separated from other peaks. Intraand inter-day precision ranged from 1.1 to 3.0% and from 2.4 to 5.3%, respectively, while intra- and inter-day accuracy ranged from 100.0 to 107.0% and from 94.3 to 103.9%, respectively. The limit of quantification (LOQ) was $10{\mu}g/mL$ and the recoveries were in the range of 98.2-102.7%. The developed HILIC-ELSD method was successfully applied to quantitatively determine the amount of betaine in fourteen Fructus Lycii samples from different locations, demonstrating that this method is simple, rapid, and suitable for the quality control of Fructus Lycii.

가속열화에 따른 비안전등급 케이블의 독성특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Toxicity Characteristics of Non-Class 1E Cables according to Accelerated Deterioration)

  • 본 연구에서는 원자력발전소용 비안전등급케이블 2종(보안상 A사, B사로 지칭키로 함)을 대상으로 가속열화 기간에 따른 독성 특성을 분석하였다. NES 713 시험장비 및 규격에 의거하여 비노화, 20년, 40년으로 가속열화한 케이블에 대해 피복재 및 절연재로 구분하여 시험하였다. 시험결과 20년, 40년 가속열화 케이블의 독성지수가 비노화 케이블의 독성지수보다 높았으며 A, B사 케이블 공통적으로 20년 가속열화 케이블에서의 독성지수가 높게 산출되었다. 이는 급증한 일산화탄소의 방출량과 더불어 염화수소와 브롬화수소의 할로겐계 가스 방출량이 높은 것이 주된 원인으로 파악되었다. 또한, 피복재와 절연재를 구분하여 분석 시 A, B사 케이블 일부 피복재의 독성지수가 높게 나타났다. 또한, 피복재와 절연재의 독성지수를 구체적으로 분석하고자 미국 국방성 규격인 MIL-DTL을 적용하여 독성지수 허용치 초과 여부를 판단하였으며, 이 중 절연재의 경우 상당량 초과하여 방출되는 결과를 보였다.

  • Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) compounds are highly carcinogenic chemicals and common groundwater contaminants that are observed to persist in soils. The adherence and slow release of PAHs in soil is an obstacle to remediation and complicates the assessment of cleanup standards and risks. Biological degradation of PAHs in soil has been an area of active research because biological treatment may be less costly than conventional pumping technologies or excavation and thermal treatment. Biological degradation also offers the advantage to transform PAHs into non-toxic products such as biomass and carbon dioxide. Ample evidence exists for aerobic biodegradation of PAHs and many bacteria capable of degrading PAHs have been isolated and characterized. However, the microbial degradation of PAHs in sediments is impaired due to the anaerobic conditions that result from the typically high oxygen demand of the organic material present in the soil, the low solubility of oxygen in water, and the slow mass transfer of oxygen from overlying water to the soil environment. For these reasons, anaerobic microbial degradation technologies could help alleviate sediment PAH contamination and offer significant advantages for cost-efficient in-situ treatment. But very little is known about the potential for anaerobic degradation of PAHs in field soils. The objectives of this research were to assess: (1) the potential for biodegradation of PAH in field aged soils under denitrification conditions, (2) to assess the potential for biodegradation of naphthalene in soil microcosms under denitrifying conditions, and (3) to assess for the existence of microorganisms in field sediments capable of degrading naphthalene via denitrification. Two kinds of soils were used in this research: Harbor Point sediment (HPS-2) and Milwaukee Harbor sediment (MHS). Results presented in this seminar indicate possible degradation of PAHs in soil under denitrifying conditions. During the two months of anaerobic degradation, total PAH removal was modest probably due to both the low availability of the PAHs and competition with other more easily degradable sources of carbon in the sediments. For both Harbor Point sediment (HPS-2) and Milwaukee Harbor sediment (MHS), PAH reduction was confined to 3- and 4-ring PAHs. Comparing PAH reductions during two months of aerobic and anaerobic biotreatment of MHS, it was found that extent of PAHreduction for anaerobic treatment was compatible with that for aerobic treatment. Interestingly, removal of PAHs from sediment particle classes (by size and density) followed similar trends for aerobic and anaerobic treatment of MHS. The majority of the PAHs removed during biotreatment came from the clay/silt fraction. In an earlier study it was shown that PAHs associated with the clay/silt fraction in MHS were more available than PAHs associated with coal-derived fraction. Therefore, although total PAH reductions were small, the removal of PAHs from the more easily available sediment fraction (clay/silt) may result in a significant environmental benefit owing to a reduction in total PAH bioavailability. By using naphthalene as a model PAH compound, biodegradation of naphthalene under denitrifying condition was assessed in microcosms containing MHS. Naphthalene spiked into MHS was degraded below detection limit within 20 days with the accompanying reduction of nitrate. With repeated addition of naphthalene and nitrate, naphthalene degradation under nitrate reducing conditions was stable over one month. Nitrite, one of the intermediates of denitrification was detected during the incubation. Also the denitrification activity of the enrichment culture from MHS slurries was verified by monitoring the production of nitrogen gas in solid fluorescence denitrification medium. Microorganisms capable of degrading naphthalene via denitrification were isolated from this enrichment culture.

GALAXIES ON DIET: FEEDBACK SIGNATURES IN RADIO-AGN HOST GALAXIES

  • There exists strong evidence supporting the co-evolution of central supermassive black holes and their host galaxies; however it is still under debate how such a relation comes about and whether it is relevant for all or only a subset of galaxies. An important mechanism connecting AGN to their host galaxies is AGN feedback, potentially heating up or even expelling gas from galaxies. AGN feedback may hence be responsible for the eventual quenching of star formation and halting of galaxy growth. A rich multi-wavelength dataset ranging from the X-ray regime (Chandra), to far-IR (Herschel), and radio (WSRT) is available for the North Ecliptic Pole field, most notably surveyed by the AKARI infrared space telescope, covering a total area on the sky of 5.4 sq. degrees. We investigate the star formation properties and possible signatures of radio feedback mechanisms in the host galaxies of 237 radio sources below redshift z = 2 and at a radio 1.4 GHz flux density limit of 0.1 mJy. Using broadband SED modelling, the nuclear and host galaxy components of these sources are studied simultaneously as a function of their radio luminosity. Here we present results concerning the AGN content of the radio sources in this field, while also offering evidence showcasing a link between AGN activity and host galaxy star formation. In particular, we show results supporting a maintenance type of feedback from powerful radio-jets.

초희박 직접분사식 가솔린 엔진용 삼원촉매의 운전조건에 따른 배기저감 특성 (Emission Reduction Characteristics of Three-way Catalyst with Engine Operating Condition Change in an Ultra-lean Gasoline Direct Injection Engine)

  • 세계적으로 유가 상승에 따른 내연기관의 에너지 변환 효율을 높이고자 하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 가솔린엔진에서 높은 열효율을 실현하기 위해서는 희박연소에 의한 비열비의 증가 및 단열화염온도의 저감에 의한 열효율 향상이 필수적이다. 직접분사식 가솔린 엔진은 연료를 직접 연소실에 공급하고 정밀한 연소제어를 통해 희박 연소가 가능하게 하지만 희박연소 한계의 확대와 안정된 희박연소제어가 요구된다. 희박연소 엔진에 대한 삼원촉매의 배출가스 저감특성은 높은 공기과잉률 및 낮은 배기가스 온도로 인해 매우 제한적이다. 이에 효과적인 삼원촉매의 개발을 위해 승용 차량용 엔진의 주요 연비시험 운전조건인 2000 rpm BMEP 2bar 조건에서 공기과잉률의 변화에 따른 배출가스 반응 및 생성 특성을 비교하였다. 희박연소 조건에서 $NO_2$가 생성되었으며, $NO_2$의 비율은 공기과잉률이 증가할수록 증가하고 $N_2O$는 감소하였다.

HRGC/HRMS를 이용한 국내유통 육류 중 다이옥신류 분석 (Analysis of Dioxins in Meat by HRGC/HRMS)

  • 식품 중에 미량 존재하는 다이옥신류를 분석하기 위하여 육류인 소고기 돼지고기 닭고기를 서울 춘천 대전 광주 부산의 5대 도시 시장 등에서 채취하여 HRGC/HRMS를 이용한 동위원소희석법으로 분석하였다. 시료를 균질화하여 Soxhlet 추출 후 지방함량을 측정하고 정제를 하여 dioxin 7종, furan 10종 및 co-planar PCB 3종에 대하여 HRGC/HRMS로 분리능 10,000에서 분석하였다. 각각의 congener에 대한 회수율은 80-153%이었으며, 검출한계는 congener에 따라 차이는 있었으나 S/N>3에서 0,01ppt 수준이었다. 대상시료의 검출량을 WHO-TEF에 의한 TEQ로 산출한 결과 다이옥신의 평균잔류수준은 소고기 0.018, 돼지고기 0.008, 닭고기 <0.001 pgTEQ/g이었으며, non-ortho co-planar PCBs의 평균잔류수준은 소고기 0.008, 돼지고기 0.002, 닭고기 0.001 pgTEQ/g으로 닭고기의 오염수준이 제일 낮게 나타났다. 또한 분석시료에서 다이옥신류의 분포패턴을 살펴보면 OCDD의 비율이 상대적으로 높게 나타났으며, co-planar PCBs의 경우는 77번의 비율이 상대적으로 높게 나타났다.

수중의 비소 종 분리 분석 (Speciation Analysis of Arsenic Species in Surface Water)

  • 본 연구에서는 물속 As(III)와 As(V)의 종 규명분석에 필요한 HPLC와 DRC-ICP-MS의 최적조건을 설정하고, 이를 이용하여 한강 팔당수계 10개 지류 천으로부터 채취한 시료중의 As(III)와 As(V)를 분석 검토하였다. 종 분리를 위한 HPLC의 이동상으로는 10 mM ammonium nitrate와 10 mM ammonium phosphate monobasic을 사용하였으며, flushing solvent로는 5% v/v 메탄올을 사용하였다. 검출기는 DRC-ICP-MS를, 반응기체는 산소를 사용하였다. 최적 분석조건을 설정하기 위하여 이동상의 pH, 유량 및 시료 주입량과 DRC의 산소 유량을 달리하여 검토한 결과, 이동상의 pH는 9.4, 유량은 1.5 mL/min, 시료 주입량은 100 $\mu$L, 산소의 유량은 0.5 mL/min이었을 때 가장 좋은 분석조건으로 나타났다. 검정곡선은 As(III)와 As(V)에 대해 모두 r$^2$ = 0.998 이상의 선형성을 나타냈으며, As(III)의 검출한계는 0.10 $\mu$g/L, 정확도(RSD)는 4.3%, 회수율은 95.2%, As(V)의 검출한계는 0.08 $\mu$g/L, 정확도(RSD)는 3.6%, 회수율은 96.4%로 나타났다. 분석시간은 4분이었다. 설정된 파라미터를 적용하여 한강 팔당수계 유입 10개 지류 천에서 채수한 시료를 분석한 결과, As(III)는 0.10$\sim$0.22 $\mu$g/L, As(V)는 0.44$\sim$1.19 $\mu$g/L의 범위로 나타났으며, 총 비소의 93.5%가 As(V)의 형태인 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

HS-SPME-GC/MS를 이용한 먹는 샘물 중 벤젠, 톨루엔, 에칠벤젠, 자일렌의 정량 (Determination of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and o-xylene in bottled waters by headspace solid-phase microextraction and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry)

  • 국내 시중에 유통되어 음용되고 있는 먹는 샘물(생수) 30 종과 가정으로 공급되는 수돗물 9종 중의 벤젠, 톨루엔, 에틸벤젠, 자일렌을 고체상미량추출법을 사용하여 정량하였다. 정지상은 $100\;{\mu}m$ PDMS fiber를 이용하였고, 실험조건은 실온에서, 교반시간 1200 RPM G, 흡착시간 4 분, 탈착시간 1 분 이었다. 정량은 표준검량선법을 사용하였다. 평균검출한계는 벤젠 0.39 (${\pm}0.04$) ng/mL, 톨루엔 0.08 (${\pm}0.04$) ng/mL, 에틸벤젠 0.04 (${\pm}0.01$) ng/mL, o-자일렌 0.05 (${\pm}0.02$) ng/mL 이었다. 30 종의 먹는 샘물(생수)조사 결과 벤젠과 o-자일렌은 모든 시료에서 검출되지 않았으며, 톨루엔의 경우는 11 개의 시료, 에틸벤젠은 3 개의 시료에서 검출되었다. 검출된 물질의 각각의 농도범위는 $0.24({\pm}0.09)\sim2.95\;({\pm}0.08)\;ng/mL$, $0.08({\pm}0.06)\sim0.93({\pm}0.10)\;ng/mL$였다.

Enhancement of PLED lifetime using thin film passivation with amorphous Mg-Zn-F

  • In this study, a new thin films passivation technique using Zn with high electronegativity and $MgF_2$, a fluorine material with better optical transmittance than the sealing film materials that have thus far been reported was proposed. Targets with various ratios of $MgF_2$ to Zn (5:5, 4:6 and 3:7) were fabricated to control the amount of Zn in the passivation films. The Mg-Zn-F films were deposited onto the substrates and Zn was located in the gap between the lattices of $MgF_2$ without chemical metathesis in the Mg-Zn-F films. The thickness and optical transmittance of the deposited passivation films were approximately 200 nm and 80%, respectively. It was confirmed via electron dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis that the Zn content of the film that was sputtered using a 4:6 ratio target was 9.84 wt%. The Zn contents of the films made from the 5:5 and 3:7 ratio targets were 2.07 and 5.01 wt%, respectively. The water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) was determined to be $38^{\circ}C$, RH 90-100%. The WVTR of the Mg-Zn-F film that was deposited with a 4:6 ratio target nearly reached the limit of the equipment, $1\times10^{-3}\;gm^2{\cdot}day$. As the Zn portion increased, the packing density also increased, and it was found that the passivation films effectively prevented the permeation by either oxygen or water vapor. To measure the characteristics of gas barrier, the film was applied to the emitting device to evaluate their lifetime. The lifetime of the applied device with passivation was increased to 25 times that of the PLED device, which was non-passivated.
