  • The material lift-up and procurement management for high-rise buildings is complex and critical key to the success of projects. It has been hardly managed by the heuristic or rule-of-thumb techniques which are adapted in usual construction building sites. Especially in downtown high-rise residential building project sites, the limit of heuristic management techniques is critical. It has space constraint for materials loading and site transportation especially in finish work phases in which construction period diverse work trades struggle for their own material and manpower transportation. Hence, it is essential to adapt JIT(Just-In-Time) concept in these particular types of building construction project sites. According to the analysis of the case project sites, the communication and flow of relevant information regarding material lift-up and transportation in project sites is the key factor for successful performance. Therefore, this study analyzes the flow and site transportation of the key materials and provides the system, PLUTO(Procurement & Lift-Up for material Transport Optimizing system). This study also applies the system in the case site and verifies the model validation in actual project.

  • In this paper, a theoretical formulation of a simplified wheel-set model for collision-induced derailments was evaluated by numerical simulations for the wheel-climb derailment and wheel-lift derailment types. The derailment types were classified into the wheel-climb derailment and the wheel-lift derailment according to the friction force direction of the wheel-flange. The wheel-climb derailment type was classified into Climb-up, Climb/Roll-over, and Roll-over-C, and wheel-lift derailment type was classified into Slip-up, Slip/Roll-over and Roll-over-L. To verify the theoretical equations derived for the wheel-climb derailment and the wheel-lift derailment, dynamic simulations using RecurDyn of Functionbay and Ls-Dyna of LSTC were performed and compared for some examples. The derailment predictions of the suggested theoretical formulation were in good agreement with those of the numerical simulations. The direction of the frictional force between the wheel-flange and the rail can be well predicted using the suggested derailment formulation at a initial derailment.

  • In this paper, a new high step up DC/DC converter with a modified super-lift technique is presented. The coupled inductor technique is combined with the super-lift technique to provide a tenfold or more voltage gain with a proper duty cycle and a low turn ratio. Due to a high conversion ratio, the voltage stress on the semiconductor devices is reduced. As a result, low voltage ultra-fast recovery diodes and low on resistance MOSFET can be used, which improves the reverse recovery problems and conduction losses. This converter employs a passive clamp circuit to recycle the energy stored in the leakage inductance. The proposed convertor features a high conversion ratio with a low turn ratio, low voltage stress, low reverse recovery losses, omission of the inrush currents of the switch capacitor loops, high efficiency, small volume and reduced cost. This converter is suitable for renewable energy applications. The operational principle and a steady-state analysis of the proposed converter are presented in details. A 200W, 30V input, 380V output laboratory prototype circuit is implemented to confirm the theoretical analysis.

  • Recently the concurrent construction method of framework and windows work has been applied for early beginning of exterior finishing works in tall building construction. However, the conventional method makes difficulties in auto-climbing of gang-form and climbing work of lift car since the removal of ACS(auto climbing system) should be preceded for operation of lift car up to the top floor. This study propose a concept model of integrated ACS and lift car system to resolve these problems and begin windows works early in tall building construction.

  • In some blepharochalasis patients, upper blepharoplasty alone is not satisfactory because of narrow distance between eyebrow and eyelash. On that occasion, eyebrow lift is advisable. There are many methods of classical eyebrow lift, such as direct excision, transblepharoplasty approach, anterior hairline technique, and so on. But they are not so effective, have a tendency to recur and also give rise to side effects; unacceptable scar, facial nerve palsy, sensory loss and hematoma, etc. Some patients who have prominent nasolabial folds, are reluctant to perform face lift procedure due to psychologic or economic burden. The authors performed the eyebrow lift procedure separately or simultaneously with face lift or forehead lift. After making 2 or 3 slit incisions, we passed absorbable suture material, 3-0 vicryl, through suborbicularis oculi fat layer. Then it was passed through subperiosteal plane and fixated to the temporalis fascia. When patients complain prominent nasolabial folds, malar fat pad was elevated also in the same manner. This methods is effective and has minimal complication such as facial nerve palsy, scar, sensory loss. Recurrent tendency was rarely observed during follow-up. Dimples were observed at slit incision sites but they disappeared within 2 or 3 weeks. Eyebrow lift and malar fat lift by absorbable suture elevation with subperiosteal dissection is a simple and less morbid. Because of its effectiveness and little side effect or complication, this procedure can be a useful method.

  • This paper analyzes the type of facilities and equipment of the marina port and analyzes its lift facilities (lift pier) and equipment (marine mobile lift). It set up the lift facilities and equipment standards. Depending on the gross tonnage of vessels in operation in Korea, the required inner width of lift piers is 5.50 m for 35-ton vessels, and 6.20 m for 50-ton vessels. The inside width of the marine mobile lift is 6.10 m for 35-ton vessels, and 6.80 m for 50-ton vessels. There are two places where the target ship can be lifted from the lift pier installed on the domestic marina, and other marinas' lift piers inner widths are insufficient by about 0.35 ~ 0.50 m. Among the marine mobile lifts in operation, there were two apparatuses that secured the inside width necessary to lift the target vessel. Other marine mobile lifts' inner widths are insufficient by about 0.3 ~ 0.6 m.

  • Background In recent years thread lift has become widespread; however, existing methods need to improve their long-term outcome, which requires considering topographic anatomy of face and neck, especially the ligamentous apparatus. This study aims to assess the effectiveness and safety of an innovative method of one-time three-step thread facelift, which provides an additional support to the ligamentous structures of the upper, middle, and lower thirds of the face and neck. Methods The study included 357 patients aged 32 to 67 years with various morphotypes of aging. The original method of thread lift was applied, and its effectiveness was followed up for to 2 years. The Wrinkle Severity Rating Score (WSRS) and Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) scores were used for assessment by investigators, independent observers, and patients. Statistical significance was determined using paired t-test and chi-square test. Results The mean WSRS score was 3.88 ± 0.88 before the thread lift, 1.93 ± 0.81 one month after the procedure, and 2.36 ± 0.85 after 2 years of follow-up. The mean GAIS was 4.80 ± 0.04 one month after thread lift, and 4.01 ± 0.04 after 2 years, while in the patients' assessment Global Satisfaction Scale was 4.86 ± 0.02 and 4.10 ± 0.02, respectively. There were no clinically significant complications throughout the observation period. Conclusion The new method of one-time three-step thread fixation of the soft tissues of the face and neck demonstrated a high degree of satisfaction by both experts and patients after 2 years of follow-up. It showed high efficacy and safety, including in the group of patients with pronounced age-related changes of the skin of face and neck.

  • The objective of this study is to increase lift and decrease drag of an airfoil at high angles of attack by delaying flow separation with piezo-ceramic actuators. The airfoil used is NACA 0012 and its chord length is 0.3m. An experiment is performed at the freestream velocity of 15m/s at which the Reynolds number based on the chord length is $2{\times}10^5$. Seven rectangular actuators are attached to the airfoil surface and move up and down based on the electric signal. Drag and lift are measured using an in-house two-dimensional force-balance and the surface pressures are also measured. At the attack angle of $16^{\circ}$, the separation point is delayed downstream due to momentum addition induced by the movement of the actuators. Lift is increased by 10%, drag is reduced by 37%, and the efficiency is increased up to 170%. The flow fields with and without control are visualized using the smoke-wire and tuft techniques.

  • The lift and drag forces produced by a wing of a given cross-sectional profile are dependent on the wing planform and the angle of attack. Aspect ratio is the ratio of the wing span to the average chord. For conventional fixed wing aircrafts, high aspect ratio wings produce a higher lift to drag ratio than low ones for flight at subsonic speeds. Therefore, high aspect ratio wings are used on aircraft intended for long endurance. However, birds and insects flap their wings to fly in the air and they can change their wing motions. Their wing motions are made up of translation and rotation. Therefore, we tested flapping motions with parameters which affect rotational motion such as the angle of attack and the wing beat frequency. The half elliptic shaped wings were designed with the variation of aspect ratio from 4 to 11. The flapping device was operated in the water to reduce the wing beat frequency according to Reynolds similarity. In this study, the aerodynamic forces, the time-averaged force coefficients and the lift to drag ratio were measured at Reynolds number 15,000 to explore the aerodynamic characteristics with the variation of aspect ratio. The maximum lift coefficient was turned up at AR=8. The mean drag coefficients were almost same values at angle of attack from $10^{\circ}$ to $40^{\circ}$ regardless of aspect ratio, and the mean drag coefficients above angle of attack $50^{\circ}$ were decreased according to the increase of aspect ratio. For flapping motion the maximum mean lift to drag ratio appeared at AR=8.
