A study on the program planning of life-long education in the public library (공공도서관의 평생교육 프로그램 계획에 관한 고찰)

  • Most important of all was the concept of library life-long education on which the studies were to be based. This concept has been broad, both in its interpretation of what constitutes a "program" and of what life-long education in a library is. No formal definition was adopted, but a common understanding existed that a fundamental purpose of the public library is to provide the means of continuing education, and to encourage the most effective utilization of these means through a program of activities whose effects are continuous and cumulatives. There are educational program, socio-cultural program and recreational program in the life-long education program of the public library. These programs can be planned by which the public library developed its resources and its services. services.

The Specification of Science Education Programs in the Local Public Library: Focusing on the Programs In G-city

  • The city of 'G' has been made a number of achievements with its science program as a part of public library's cultural program during the last 5 years. Recently, the national science centre has been established in the same city, the debate is now needed whether the science program in the public library have reasons to be maintained or to be reduced. The aim of this research is on the operating strategies of the science program in the public library. The research methods include case studies of operational strategies in domestic and foreign science centre, the level of satisfaction of local citizen on the science program, the vision of science program in the advancement of public library in the $21^{st}$ century. In results, the research proposes that the science program in public library should be maintained, but with locally characterised programs. In addition, the study also advised on the provision of scientific information, the strengthened search functions, and the development of user-centred services for those in science fields.

  • This paper is a case study of Chonbuk National University Library. In the paper I analysed characteristics of the university and change of university libraries. Following that, I suggested the development direction of Chonbuk National University Library. I categorized Chonbuk National University Library program in two - direct service program and indirect service program. Under the categories I subdivided the university library program. After that I explained how the university library program contribute to the development of the university.

  • For the public library reading revitalization in this study it is to review program development examples which is differentiated by own library from the existing reading education and reading program. Based on the specialized program examples it intended suggesting a method of reading revitalization, after reviewing enlarged specialized function in the existing public library function, and analyzing related the reading activity status concerning with Seoul city public library, 'One Library One Book Reading' activity and U. S. A public library. Also, this study suggested future public library reading revitalization through the specialized quality service program development and construction related reading.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of the library tour program on pre-librarians' perception as librarians, and to present the educational meaning of library tour program for pre-librarians. For doing this, the 29 pre-librarians participated in library tour are surveyed before and after library tour program. The results revealed that the library tour program for pre-librarians is proved to have the educational effects that establish the per-librarians' attitudes toward positive librarian job performance. It's meaningful that this study presents the educational effects of library tour program to pre-librarians.

  • The purpose of this study is to practice the library tour program for pre-librarians, to analyze the impact of the library tour program for pre-librarians on librarian job's perception, and to present the educational meaning of library tour program for pre-librarians to the library & information science academies, the librarians in charge of the library tour, and pre-librarians.   • The purpose of this study is to develop a cultural program model and to provide a cultural program manual for public library. The various program models and manuals were analyzed from the literature, and program expert interviews were conducted. The results show that the culture program model includes inner factors and outer factors. Inner factors include program objective and resources as a program framework. The outer factors include program subject and format, and are what to show and how to show. A cultural program manual is developed for individual public library. The manual has 12 levels and each level has several actions which focus on important role.

  • The research aims to develop a training program for prospective librarians in order to help them better prepared for library practicum. To achieve the purpose of the research, the research analyzes pre-librarians' expectation and needs of the pre-training program and designs a mock pre-training program for practicing library practicum effectively and efficiently. After running the mock pre-training program to library practicum participants in the department of Library and Information Science at H University, their satisfaction and feedback of the mock program are also assessed. On the basis of the findings from implementing the mock pre-training program, the research proposes the final contents of a pre-training program for preparing library practicum and the detailed methods for implementing the proposed pre-training program.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Reading Promotion Program of Public Library on Reading Activity. For this purpose, this study carried out carried out literature review, readingmarathon program development and operation. It was followed by the questionnaire survey and interview about reading activity of readingmarathon program participants. The findings are as follows 1) People of high satisfaction increased reading volume and frequency of library use 2) Book talk with family members increased after participating in readingmarathon program. The readingmarathon program had a positive effect on reading activity.

  • This study aims to develop the journal feedback program, based on the ways of writing journal and abstract, for applying it to the course of library field experience in the university, to apply this program to the course of library field experience, and to explore the effects of this program after applying it to the course of the library field experience for pre-librarians and pre-teacher librarians. The results of this study are like these: (1) The thinking level was increased after some feedbacks. (2) Journal feedback program was regarded to be necessary in the library field experience. (3) The program helped them to solve their problems in the course of the library field experience.
