  • The task of author name disambiguation involves identifying an author with different names or different authors with the same name. The author name disambiguation is important for correctly assessing authors' research achievements and finding experts in given areas as well as for the effective operation of scholarly information services such as citation indexes. In the study, we performed error correction and normalization of data and applied rules-based author name disambiguation to compare with baseline machine learning disambiguation in order to see if human intervention could improve the machine learning performance. The improvement of over 0.1 in F-measure by the corrected and normalized email-based author name disambiguation over machine learning demonstrates the potential of human pattern identification and inference, which enabled data correction and normalization process as well as the formation of the rule-based diambiguation, to complement the machine learning's weaknesses to improve the author name disambiguation results.

  • According to the development of information technology, the paradigm of the archives is shifting from preservation management of past records to use-oriented services. In this regard, this study is conducted an empirical study on the effect of internal marketing factors of university archives on the customer orientation of employees in order to improve organizational satisfaction for users of records information service. Based on the previous research, the delegation of authority, internal communication, management support, and training are established as factors of internal marketing, and the parameters for this are job satisfaction, organizational commitment, customer orientation as dependent variables, and We set up hypothesis between research variables and attempted an analysis through statistical system. In summary, each element of internal marketing showed significant results on job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and management support was most closely related to job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and customer orientation of university archive staff.

  • The purposes of the study were to identify the characteristics and types of grey literatures, to investigate the factors restricting the sharing of grey literatures in Korea, and to make recommendations for the efficient collection and utilization system of grey literatures being produced and managed by either government agencies or government-supported research institutes in Korea. A survey instrument was designed to measure the current status of grey literature management systems and to elicit expert opinions from information professionals in information centers for an efficient system of grey literatures. It was found that information professionals considered the technical reports as the most important type of grey literatures, but maps and dissertations as the least important type of information value. Related to the participation for the central system of grey literatures, many respondents preferred to utilize the grey literatures owned by other information centers, but they showed a neutral interest level in sharing their information centers' grey literatures with other centers.

  • In this paper, we describe a developmental system for establishing personal information tendency based on user queries. For each query, the system classified it based on the category information using a kNN classifier. As category information, we used DDC field which is already assigned to each record in the database. The system accumulates category information for all user queries and the user's personalized feature for the target database. We then developed a personalized retrieval system reflecting the personalized feature to produce search result. Our system re-ranks the result documents by adding more weights to the documents for which categories match with the user's personalized feature. By using user's tendency information, the ambiguity problem of the word could be solved. In this paper, we conducted experiments for personalized search and word sense disambiguation (WSD) on a collection of Korean journal articles of science and technology arena. Our experimental result and user's evaluation show that the performance of the personalized search system and WSD is proved to be useful for actual field services.

  • In this study, our purpose was to develop the metadata elements for archiving e-learning content being generated by universities. In order to achieve this goal, we first examined the current status of e-learning content providing services both domestically and overseas and then compared each standard for metadata for e-learning content built for educational purposes. We found that KEM (Korea Education Metadata) 3.0, a server being provided by KOCW (Korea Open CourseWare), does not currently accommodate the metadata elements for archiving. In this study, we extended and added the scope of metadata elements for archiving based on KEM 3.0. We also tried to build up metadata for archiving the e-learning content provided based on KEM 3.0+. As a result of this study, a basis for archiving elLearning content is expected to be founded.

  • As the more web contents are available through the internet, relative importance of electronic resources in the library collection has gradually increased. While several measurement criteria are used for the effective collection development, the usage statistics is generally accepted as the key factor to assess the retention and cancellation of electronic resources. In this paper it was examined the roles and problems inherent in the electronic journals usage statistics, and then the quality of electronic journal usage reporting services provided by several publishers were evaluated, following the ICOLC and COUNTER guidelines. To apply the usage statistics of electronic journal on the library collection development, it is necessary that libraries, related association and publishers accomplish more consistent and practical usage statistics components. And it is recommended that publisher and aggregator accommodate the guideline for electronic journal usage report.

  • This study sets out to examine training courses for newly government-employed librarian for developing training contents to learn their basic knowledge, and suggests development model about training contents' planning, designing and making-process. In addition, in order to evaluate cyber training contents it devises self-evaluating tool, conducts a reviewing of questionnaire and measure by Delphi method. The final content made under the cyber contents development model proposes the six areas and 28th trials. Feasibility assessment for the purpose of evaluating educational contents, based on 17 questions to measure the factor analysis results, it yields, it yields 4 factors having more than .40 variance. Though differences in perception depending on factors did not show statistical significance, the difference in the adequacy of questions results significantly lower in some of them.

  • Computers used fer light-weight computing environments are considerably limited in resources and performance running in ubiquitous environment. Because of the limited resources, it is difficult to apply existing security technologies to the light-weight computers. In this paper, light-weight security software is implemented using RC-5 encryption and SHA-1 authentication algorithm which is appropriate for light-weight computing environments. The design of components based on security software of a light-weight computer application and the test-bed for security software are presented. The simulation verifies the correctness of the security software. The architecture of the light-weight and reconfigurable security software for light-weight computer applications is proposed. The proposed security software is small size and provides reconfigurable security library based on the light-weight component and the software manager that configures software platform is loaded with the library at the time it is needed.

  • The study aims to analyze the posts of depression-related Facebook groups to understand major topics discussed by group users. Specifically, the purpose of the study is to identify the topics and keywords of the posts to understand what users discuss about depression. Depression is a mental disorder that is somewhat sensitive in the online community, which is characterized by accessibility, openness and anonymity. The researchers have implemented a natural language-based data analysis framework that includes components ranging from Facebook data collection to the automated extraction of topics. Using the framework, we collected and analyzed 885 posts created in the past one year from the largest Facebook depression group. To derive more complete and accurate topics, we combined both automated and manual (e.g., stop words removal, topic size determination) methods. Results indicate that users discuss a variety of topics including depression in general, human relations, mood and feeling, depression symptoms, suicide, medical references, family and etc.
