This study aims to look at overall adolescents' and college students' perceptions of library and explore the sources and their related variables as well as find out related issues of perceptions of library and information use of them. The data for this study were collected through survey and analyzed descriptive statistics and correlation analysis using the data. The result shows the population users preferred search engine so much over library as their information search tool even if they trust library information sources more, also, they tend to seek information sources when it has easiness and fastness to get. Correlation analysis such as ${\chi}^2$ and Spearman were implemented and the result of the correlation shows that many factors of this study covered-such as comparison of information sources-have significant differences each other.

Exploring research similarity of researchers offers insight on research communities and potential interactions among scholars. While co-authorship is a popular measure for studying research similarity of researchers, it cannot provide insight on authors who have not collaborated yet. In this work, we present novel approach to capture research similarity of authors using citation information. Extensive study is conducted on DATA & KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING (DKE) publications to demonstrate and compare suggested approach with co-authorship based approach. Analysis result shows that proposed approach distinguishes author relationships that is not shown in co-authorship network.

This study was conducted to examine the user's experiences with the public library in Daejeon using big data analysis, focusing on the text mining technique. To know this, first, the overall evaluation and perception of users about the public library in Daejeon were explored by collecting data on social media. Second, through analysis using online news articles, the pending issues that are being discussed socially were identified. As a result of the analysis, the proportion of users with children was first high. Next, it was found that topics through LDA analysis appeared in four categories: 'cultural event/program', 'data use', 'physical environment and facilities', and 'library service'. Finally, it was confirmed that keywords for the additional construction of libraries and complex cultural spaces and the establishment of a library cooperation system appeared at the core in the news article data. Based on this, it was proposed to build a library in consideration of regional balance and to create a social parenting community network through business agreements with childcare and childcare institutions. This will contribute to identifying the policy and social trends of public libraries in Daejeon and implementing data-based public library operations that reflect local community demands.

Using user satisfaction surveys and LibQUAL+ instruments, libraries are increasingly gathering qualitative data such as verbatim user comments as well as quantitative data. Such qualitative data can be utilized as clues in establishing library service strategies: to better understand user issues, to identify areas for service improvement, and to prioritize user needs. For this, it is necessary to analyze user comments data and to apply results to the delivery of service and the library policies. This study is an attempt to investigate ways in which user comments data can be made useful in libraries. It identifies different methods of analyzing user comments data from LibQUAL+ surveys and compares qualitative data analysis software programs and taxonomies. It also presents the results of applying these tools to a subset of actual user comments data gathered from a recent LibQUAL+ survey at a major university library in Korea.

The reading activity of university students is the key element for the cultivation of creative human resources, and each university develops and performs the various cultural education and library program. Actually, the university libraries check the service periodically through library satisfaction surveys and the library user's actual condition survey to improve it, but the amount of reading, number of books lent and the rate of borrowers are still under expectation. Therefore, in this research, an in-depth analysis of lending books data for freshmen, as the service improvement and revitalization measures of university libraries for students, suggested the following: (1) the early education for the library users, (2) the opening of the students-participating library collections, (3) the use of the data using a library for the consulting with students (4) the establishment of the library depositary for education support, and (5) the introduction of the library CRM for individual student. Through this result, it would be substantially helpful for each university library (including two-year college), in which the number of lending books and the rate of borrowers are below expectations.

This study examined DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) and how it measures the efficiency of library units. DEA is a useful nonparametric method to evaluate the relative efficiency of a set of decision making units(DMUs) with multiple inputs and outputs. This study evaluated 102 different public libraries utilizing 4 inputs and 4 outputs focussing on the year 2005. For inefficient libraries, the study analysed the potential improvement and the source of inefficiency comparing the peer groups. The result of this study shows that efficiency of public libraries varies in different localities and forms of operation.

The subject specialization room will be able to support university library users who are inclined to use the general reading room. This study is the research of the area planning for university library's subject specialization room. For the evaluation, 431 users from 15 university libraries in 14 universities located across Seoul were surveyed. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS. Frequency, percentage, mean, t-test, f-test were used. Results of the study are as follow. Subject specialization rooms in university libraries can be classified via the analysis of spatial characteristics. According to the area ratio of data space and reading space in a subject specialization room, the subject room can be separated into data-loaning and data-reading types. Old libraries are more likely to be data-loaning types, where reading room is small and there are a lot of bookshelves. The annual increase in library collections causes space for bookshelves to decrease. As a result, space for reading has been gradually transformed into space for stacking data. It is necessary to introduce ways to maintain enough space for both reading and stacking data. One way includes movable compact shelving, which can partially replace existing fixed shelves.

This study aims to analyze library culture-program management and propose methods for improving the program management. To achieve this research goal, this study examines current state of culture-program management and user's participation by analyzing users' participation logs of the National Library of Korea, Sejong. The users' participation logs have been accumulated from May, 2015, to December, 2017, and the logs contain 722 program data, 24,816 program participation data, and 6,729 users data. The data were used for analyzing of program management, users' characteristics, and changes based on timelines. Based on the analysis results, culture-program management problems were pointed out and future improvement methods for solving the problems were proposed. This study analyzes culture-program management in view of users using real users' participation logs, and it has significance for being different from preceding researches focusing on culture-program providers.

Domestic standards for data broadcasting differ in the fact that satellite broadcasting chose MHP, cable OCAP, satellite ACAP, therefore making reuse of data contents impossible due to the differences. To resolve this problem, this study designed and implemented independent middleware class library for developing data broadcasting contents. To define class library which could bridge between applications and different middleware, standard library developing methods were used; and analysis of procedural application of each middleware was carried out. Based upon the analysis, classes with embedded transform and handle modules were defined to be linked to libraries of each middleware; and to verify the implemented class library, test contents were created to be compared to the existing contents. This kind of contents development by independent middleware class library allows for reuse of data contents easier, and develops an environment for higher quality of contents by reducing the efforts needed to learn each middleware for the developers.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the status of interlibrary loan (ILL) services using data from its transection. While analyzing the ILL data, agenda to improve the quality of services was identified, and suggestions were made to address them. Three data sets including National Inter-Libary Loan data, National Library Statistics System data, and local inter-library loan system analysis data were collected and analyzed. The results indicate that the size of transaction in ILL is getting bigger. The local ILL, particularly, was expanded and actively used by people. Additionally, the type of library participating in ILL networks was diverse and the number of library was increasing. Finally, this study discussed the tool to measure the contribution of each library in ILL. The collection uniqueness and collaboration index of library as well as the ILL statistics should be considered in the process of the tool development.
