Innovation in university library spaces is challenging to effectively support the education of the university's future learning and innovation capabilities, including creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration. The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception and need of library space from the perspective of users and librarians, and to suggest the direction of space innovation through this. For this study, we designed each questionnaire for users and librarians, and collected responses from 363 users and 186 librarians in the university library to analyze their needs and perceptions about their library space. The librarian's need for the space was analyzed by the size of the library and the demographic factors of the librarian. The user's need was analyzed by the user's attributes. In addition, we analyzed the differences between librarians and users for the need for space and space services. The results of this paper may be useful for reference when planning a new library or building a space based on user.

Following Giorgi's four ways of phenomenological description, the study analyzed the collected data from in-depth interviews with the participants. Prospective librarians' library practicum experiences were able to analyze as five significant themes and seventeen sub-categories of the themes. The five main themes are as followings: 'formulating perception of libraries and librarians', 'formulating career design through self-development and challenges', 'growth and challenges in preparing the library practicum', 'growth and challenges in the middle of library practicum' and 'experiences after the library practicum and the evaluation.' On the basis of the findings, the study suggested alternative programs of library practicum and the directions for performing the programs effectively and efficiently.

This study analyzes on the perception of public librarians about lifelong education tasks in public library using Mann Whitney U-test, Spearman rank-order correlation coefficient, Multiple regression analysis. At the same time, analysis about re-education needs using Analytic Hierarchy Process is conducted. As result, at first, 87% of respondents feel moderate or difficult about lifelong education tasks, especially on planning task. At second, librarians who have qualification about lifelong educator feel easier (P=0.04) than others, in detail, task about lecturer liaison (P=0.04) and planning (P=0.05). Adding that, the career experience and the job difficulty of librarians has negative relationship (R=-0.217). Especially scheduling (R=-0.33) and progressing (R=-0.22) tasks show statistically meaningful. At third, as the result of Multiple regression analysis, tasks about planning (P=0.04) and library marketing (P=0.05) are selected as meaningful elements which effect overall difficulty of life long education job. As final, 91% of librarian need retraining for life long education function, as result of spearman (R=-0.210), the more librarians feels difficult about life long education jobs, the more they need retraining. Anyway, as the result of priority of retraining subjects through AHP technique, user communication (CU P=0.310), planning (PL P=0.246), library marketing (LM P=0.173) are in weight order. CR ratio shows 0.146 with permissible degree.

These results of surveying public librarians can contribute to clearly identifying the status of CHI(consumer health information) services in Korea and to exploring future developments in CHI services. In this study, we investigated whether or not currently Korean public libraries are offering CHI services, whether or not they provide CHI reference services and the frequency of their use, and analyzed librarians' recognition of the need for Korean public libraries to provide the CHI services. The findings are as follows: 1) 70% of Korean public libraries are equipped with health-related books and medical journals, but the rate of libraries that are building CHI-related websites was very low at 5%. 2) The rate of providing the CHI reference services was only 30% of the surveyed public libraries. 3) 82.1% of public libraries did not provide educational programs related to CHI. 4) 82.1% of public libraries did not provide CHI-related services for vulnerable groups. 5) The rate of providing the CHI-related outreach programs and collaborating with CHI-related institutions was no more than about 20% each. These research findings can induce public librarians to provide CHI services in public libraries, and will contribute to activate the CHI-related research in Korea.

This study aimed to propose the core values of librarians by investigating the core values of domestic and foreign libraries, including ALA's core values, and analyzing related research by domestic and foreign researchers. The research process included literature analysis, case studies, and surveys. The results showed that although the recognition of the need for setting core values for librarians was high (4.48), the awareness and understanding of core values were low. The reasons for recognizing the need for setting core values included improving the recognition and value of librarians, enhancing their professionalism, and establishing the value of libraries. The study proposed approximately 20 core values for librarians, with only two items scoring below 4 points, and 18 items showing high agreement with scores of 4 points or above. Particularly, professionalism, accessibility, diversity, service, literacy, and public interest all scored above 4.4. Analysis of perception differences between different types of libraries revealed significant differences for almost all items, with school libraries showing the most significant differences. The study recommends conducting in-depth research at the national level to reduce the number of core values to within 10 and share them with the nation.

This study is part of a larger project that investigated the patterns of children's use of educational graphic novels (EGNs), a publication format that has been popular among young readers in Korea since 2000. In-depth interviews with elementary school teachers and school librarians uncovered tension and gaps between these adult professionals and children's enjoyment of the format. Interviewees' views on EGNs ranged from limited tolerance to a potential candidate for high-interest / low-vocabulary reading. All teachers and school librarians urged for guidelines and criteria for selecting and evaluating EGNs for children.

This study examined current status and futurity of libraries based on the survey of librarians awareness in the era of the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution and sought to find effective response strategies for future changes. For this purpose, this study reviewed research issues against the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution based on preceding researches in our library area and other fields. The awareness survey was conducted of librarians of several types including national libraries and public libraries. The results are as follows: First, librarians were interested in the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution, but they thought that new technologies are poorly adopted in their libraries. Second, librarians were most frequently using Desktop PCs, mobile phones, RFID tags, and QR codes for library services. Third, librarians were required intelligent-information services because of their effectiveness, but their libraries did not provide them for users. Fourth, librarians expected that the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution brings positive influences to libraries' future. On the other hands, they also concerned about their job losses. Fifth, librarians agreed with necessity of new technologies of the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution and they especially wanted educations and training related with technologies. Also, technical supports for online services and simply repeated works are required.
