Since he was an exile, Henry James himself was well aware of agonies as an outsider in either Europe or America. Such an anguish is deftly depicted in the character of Felix Young with James's unique ironic tone. Unlike James, however, Felix is neither affluent nor distinguished as an artist. Nor is he supported by any patron. Furthermore, at first, he doesn't seem to survive the strict joyless environment in New England, but he possesses his own survival value. His unique esthetic value and his beautiful smile enable him to win Gertrude's heart. His adroit balance between pleasure-seeker and respect for American serious culture without hostility ultimately ends up with his marrying Gertrude. His arrival in Boston might pose a threat as Mr. Wentworth fears. Actually he subverts the traditional idea of an artist. He is armed with amiability and frankness, which are incongruous with a stereotypical idea of an artist: a willful, freakish, and self-righteous person. Felix here suggests to us that a new kind of modern art be possible. Gertrude is also a new woman who opposes to staying put under the patriarchal society. She is always wavering in and out of the house, searching for opportunities to quench her curiosity to see the world by breaking the bond of New England. Her ceaseless quest for independent values results in fortuitous encounter with a new species of artist Felix. Unlike Henry James's other novels, in which male characters assume a role of sophisticated "fortune-hunter," the union of Felix and Gertrude in The Europeans represents the compromise between two different cultures. According to Nietzsche, the birth of superman is possible by the union of Athens and Jerusalem. In other words, the matrimony of Felix and Gertrude means the commingling of his liberal arts and Gertrude's moral seriousness might contribute to the birth of the new culture.

Although students can make their questions to clarify their curiosity, there are variety of reasons why a student cannot ask a lecturer. For example, they are ashamed to ask questions. In particular, in case of the class to attend many students, the situation for the difficulty of the question will be caused even greater. Recently, in order to overcome this problem, the Audience Presentation Program (APS) to share students' questions and comments have been introduced, it has widely used. The APS system enables students to ask questions more easily and comfortably. In this paper, we have analyzed the effect of the APS system on the basis of questionnaires in terms of easy-to-use, preference, engagement, etc. According to the results of this paper, we found that all students were satisfied with the APS system.

This study aimed to understand and analyze the learners' class satisfaction and the effectiveness of synchronous online classes after COVID-19. A total of 188 learners participated in the survey conducted at the end of the Fall Semester 2020 at C University located Gyeongsangnam-do. Findings revealed that learners' satisfaction with the synchronous online classes was relatively low, and the learners had negative perception of that. Learning content have the biggest effect on the learners' class satisfaction. Next came class management and the online learning platform. Therefore, instructors need to organize learning content effectively and enhance learners' understanding considering the most influential variable, learning content so that learners are satisfied with the synchronous online classes. Also, instructors should make it possible for learners to get familiar with the online learning platform and use it without any problems through systematic and faithful class design for effective learning in unfamiliar online learning environment. In addition, instructors need to know learners' needs and difficulties and plan their synchronous online classes. This study has limitations in that it was conducted only at one college and the limited number of variables was measured.

In this study, a smart switchboard for power supply of entertainment devices was developed for the following purposes. First, the heat generated when the high-temperature and humid air inside is cooled by the thermoelectric module is smoothly discharged to the outside of the switchboard, thereby maximizing the cooling effect. So, it is possible to prevent excessive temperature rise inside the switchboard. Various problems such as condensation inside the switchboard can be prevented by controlling the temperature of the switchboard in which a fire occurs due to excessive heat in summer, removing moisture due to the cooling effect, and generating heat instead of cooling in winter. Second, it is a smart switchboard control system that can reduce the salt that may permeate inside the switchboard. Third, the smart switchboard system is an IoT-controlled switchboard that collects environmental data using a variety of sensors and can remotely control devices through a smartphone, and can be easily used in various fields.

The purpose of this study was to test whether or not the AI chatbot is effective in acquiring target grammar for Korean EFL college students: prepositions and articles. A quasi-experiment was conducted with 46 first-year students taking part in a required English course. They were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental and control groups (23 students for each, respectively). The experimental group was engaged in six chat sessions with a chatbot over 6 weeks. A pretest and a posttest were used to examine the effectiveness of the chatbot by comparing any changes made in error frequencies of the target grammar in participants' English compositions. The results show that after a conversation with the chatbot, the experimental group significantly reduced the mean of omission errors in both prepositions and articles. To have a great effect in other error categories, chatbot feedback needs to be improved to reduce short responses or inaccurate utterances of students and induce them to actively participate in the conversation.

The purpose of this study was to develop science essay writing activities for developing elementary pre-service teacher's scientific thinking ability and scientific emotion and to analyze its effects. For the study, 60 first grade students attending teacher training institutes in the G region of Korea were selected. All 60 elementary pre-service teachers were students who selected a liberal arts lecture related to 'science inquiry'. As a result of the study, we confirmed that the preliminary teacher uses the scientific method of 'induction' in the article related to scientific thinking and the description related to the past time, agency, and purpose of the story is included in the essay related to scientific emotion. In addition, it was confirmed that elementary school teachers' writing ability was improved as the writing was repeated, and that the image of 'science' changed positively in many areas. This study suggests that a various and interesting scientific inquiry activities are needed to improve the science writing skills.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends of research themes of the Korean dance in recent 20 years using text mining. The study has analyzed 3,047 words in 1,468 academic papers posted in the Research & Information Services Section(RISS). TEXTOM, a big data analysis solution, has been used to refine and analyse data, and the keyword analysis and topic modeling have been adopted during the text-mining process to come up with meaningful results. First, the theme of studies has shifted from the structure of the basic Korean dance moves to the use and transmission of the Korean dance. Second, those who participate in studies of the Korean dance have changed from middle-aged women to elderly women. Third, studies on dance records have been inactivated. Fourth, studies on Choi Seung-hee have consistently been a subject of interest. Fifth, the focus of studies has turned from the Korean creative dance to the Korean traditional dance. Sixth, there are no iconic research themes that would lead the academic trends with no clear boundaries of research themes.

The present study investigated gender differences of dating violence among adolescents and related variables, and examined the difference in trait anger and anger expression between those who have inflicted dating violence and those who have not. Results indicated that female adolescents(41.9%) reported experience of inflicting dating violence more frequently than male adolescents(29.1%) did. The girls were more positive toward violence than the boys, while the boys were more expressing aggression at school than the girls were. Adolescents who had inflicted violence toward their dating partners had singificantly higher frait anger and anger-out than adolescents who had not. Logistic regression analysis indicated that father to mother violence, community violence, trait anger, and recipient of dating violence are predictors of dating violence for male, while father to mother violence, community violence, history of violence, and recipient of dating violence are predictors for female.

The aim of this study was to develop a group counseling program as an integrative psychotherapy program to alleviate depression and physical symptoms of 22 women in 60s who experience depression as a symptom of conversion disorder and also tried to prove the effectivity of the program by using comparative analyze of pre-post changes. The Korean-style Elderly Depression Test(K-GDS), Symptom Interpretation Questionnaire(SIQ), Hamilton Depression Assessment Scale Questionnaire, PHQ-9 and interpersonal relationship scale (RCS) were conducted and pre-post-corresponding sample t-test, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed. The results showed depression reduction, physical symptoms alleviation, decreases in negative emotions and beliefs, and positive changes in interpersonal relationships. The implications and limitations of this study were discussed.

There are various definitions of Science Culture nowadays. In this study we redefine Science Culture as a union between Science and Culture. We also develop the Framework of Science Culture Indicator (FSCI). which consists of five fields; History of Science, Philosophy of Science, Literature and Art of Science, Scientific Social Activity and Scientific Media. In this study we also investigated the level of the Science Culture of secondary school teachers, and compare them by teachers' majors: Science, Liberal Arts and Social Studies. To analyze the data, the Kruskal-Wallis Test is adopted. It is found that there are significant differences in the level of Science Culture by teachers' major, and the group of science teachers has the highest level of science culture.
