Synthesis and Characterization of Lithium Dual Complex Grease (Lithium Dual Complex 그리이스의 합성 및 특성연구)

  • Lithium dual complex grease was prepared through the second continuous saponification reaction of a complex gellant system whose essential components comprised of a selected hydroxy fatty acid, lithium hydroxide monohydrate and boric acid to have a fiber structure of chemical, thermal and mechanical stability at high temperatures. An optimum amount of complex gellant was found to be 14% (NLGI #2), and an addition of castor wax of 1.5% provided an excellent performance properties, especially. The oil separation, oxidation stability, water wash-out property, shear stability, extreme pressure and wear property of thus prepared were tested by the ASTM and KS methods, and a characteristic result was obtained.

  • It is known that there are no real hypersurfaces with parallel Ricci tensor in a nonflat complex space form ([6], [9]). In this paper we investigate real hypersurfaces in a complex projective space $P_n\mathbb{C}$ using some conditions of the Ricci tensor S which are weaker than ${\nabla}S=0$. We characterize Hopf hypersurfaces of $P_n\mathbb{C}$.

  • In this paper, we study the complex symmetric weighted composition-differentiation operator D𝜓,𝜙 with respect to the conjugation JW𝜉,𝜏 on the Hardy space H2. As an application, we characterize the necessary and sufficient conditions for such an operator to be normal under some mild conditions. Finally, the spectrum of D𝜓,𝜙 is also investigated.

  • This paper proposes a convolutional neural network model for distinguishing areas occupied by obstacles from a LiDAR image converted from a 3D point cloud. The channels of a LiDAR image used as input consist of the distances to 3D points, the reflectivities of 3D points, and the heights of 3D points from the ground. The proposed model uses a LiDAR image as an input and outputs a result of a segmented LiDAR image. The proposed model adopts refinement modules with skip connections to segment a LiDAR image. The refinement modules with skip connections in the proposed model make it possible to construct a complex structure with a small number of parameters than a convolutional neural network model with a linear structure. Using the proposed model, it is possible to distinguish areas in a LiDAR image occupied by obstacles such as vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists. The proposed model can be applied to recognize surrounding obstacles and to search for safe paths.

  • Carbon-coated $Li_3V_2(PO_4)_3-LiMnPO_4$ composite cathode materials are first reported in this work, prepared by the mechanochemical process with a complex metal oxide as the precursor and sucrose as the carbon source. X-ray diffraction pattern of the composite material indicates that both olivine $LiMnPO_4$ and monoclinic $Li_3V_2(PO_4)_3$ co-exist. We further investigated the electrochemical properties of our $Li_3V_2(PO_4)_3-LiMnPO_4$ composite cathode materials using galvanostatic charging/discharging tests, where our $Li_3V_2(PO_4)_3-LiMnPO_4$ composite electrode materials exhibit the charge/discharge efficiency of 91.9%, while $Li_3V_2(PO_4)_3$ and $LiMnPO_4$ exhibit the efficiency of 87.7 and 86.7% in the first cycle. The composites display unique electrochemical performances in terms of overvoltage and cycle stability, displaying a reduced gap of 141.6 mV between charge and discharge voltage and 95.0% capacity efficiency after $15^{th}$ cycles.

  • Microstructural characteristics of the Complex Perovskite (1-x) $(Li_{1/2}Sm_{1/2})TiO_3-x (Na_{1/2}Sm_{1/2})TiO_3$ (LNST) system have been investigated using the transmission electron microscopy (TEM). When $0.0{\leq}x{\leq}0.6$, the vacancy ordering forming the 1/2 (001) superlattice reflections due to the A-site cation deficiencies has apperaed. It could be confirmed by presence of ABPs. But it was difficult to form the vacancy ordering since vacancy concentration gradually lowered as the amount of the substituted Li ions decrease. Antiphase boundaries (APBs) were presented in microstructures of LNST when $0.8{\leq}x{\leq}1.0$. It was considered that these boundaries were caused by the 1:1 chemical ordering of A-site cations, Na and Sm ions. LNST had not only the antiphase tilting of oxygen octahedron but also the inphase tilting of oxygen octahedron and the antiparallel shift of cations all of them. It could be confirmed by presence of ferroelastic domains

A Study for Parallel Computing Efficiency Comparing Numerical Solutions of Battery Pack (배터리 팩 수치해석 해의 비교를 통한 병렬연산 효율성 연구)

  • The parallel computer cluster system has been known as the powerful tool to solve a complex physical phenomenon numerically. The numerical analysis of large size of Li-ion battery pack, which has a complex physical phenomenon, requires a large amount of computing time. In this study, the numerical analyses were conducted for comparing the computing efficiency between the single workstation and the parallel cluster system both with multicore CPUs'. The result shows that the parallel cluster system took the time 80 times faster than the single work station for the same battery pack model. The performance of cluster system was increased linearly with more CPU cores being increased.

  • A complex system is comprised of numerous entities containing physical components, devices and hardware, events or phenomena, and subsystems, there are intricate interactions among these entities. To reasonably identify the critical fault propagation paths, a system fault propagation model is essential based on the system failure mechanism and failure data. To establish an appropriate mathematical model for the complex system, these entities and their complicated relations must be represented objectively and reasonably based on the structure. Taking a command and control system as an example, this paper proposes a hierarchical fault propagation analysis method, analyzes and determines the edge betweenness ranking model and the importance degree of each sub-system.

On the Origin of Oscillatory Instabilities in Diffusion Flames (확산화염의 진동불안성의 기원에 대해서)

  • Fast-time instability is investigated for diffusion flames with Lewis numbers greater than unity by employing the numerical technique called the Evans function method. Since the time and length scales are those of the inner reactive-diffusive layer, the problem is equivalent to the instability problem for the $Li\tilde{n}\acute{a}n#s$ diffusion flame regime. The instability is primarily oscillatory, as seen from complex solution branches and can emerge prior to reaching the upper turning point of the S-curve, known as the $Li\tilde{n}\acute{a}n#s$ extinction condition. Depending on the Lewis number, the instability characteristics is found to be somewhat different. Below the critical Lewis number, $L_C$, the instability possesses primarily a pulsating nature in that the two real solution branches, existing for small wave numbers, merges at a finite wave number, at which a pair of complex conjugate solution branches bifurcate. For Lewis numbers greater than $L_C$, the solution branch for small reactant leakage is found to be purely complex with the maximum growth rate found at a finite wave number, thereby exhibiting a traveling nature. As the reactant leakage parameter is further increased, the instability characteristics turns into a pulsating type, similar to that for L < $L_C$.

Improved Electron Injection on Organic Light-emitting Diodes with an Organic Electron Injection Layer

  • To overcome of poor electron injection in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with Al cathode, a thin layer of inorganic insulating materials, like as LiF, is inserted between an Al cathode and an organic electron transport layer. Though the device, mentioned above, improves both turn on voltage and luminescent properties, it has some problems like as thickness restriction, less than 2 nm, and difficulty of deposition control. On the other hand, Li organic complex, Liq, is less thickness restrictive and easy to deposit and it also enhances the performance of devices. This paper reports the improved electron injection on OLEDs with another I A group metal complex, Potassium quinolate (Kq), as an electron injection material. OLEDs with organic complexes showed improved turn-on voltage and luminous efficiency which are remarkably improved compared to OLEDs with Al cathode. Especially, OLEDs with Kq have longer life time than OLEDs with Liq.
