  • We present an innovative method of multi-physics application involving energetic materials. Energetic materials are related to reacting flows in extreme environments such as fires and explosions. They typically involve high pressure, hish temperature, strong non-linear shock waves, and high strain rate deformation of metals. We use an Eulerian methodology to address these problems. Our approach is naturally free from large deformation of materials that makes it suitable for high strain-rate multi-material interaction problems. Furthermore we eliminate the possible interface smearing by using the level sets. We have devised a new level set based tracking framework that can elegantly handle large gradients typically found in reacting gases and metals. We show several work-in-progress applications of our algorithm including the Taylor impact test, explosive venting and additional confined explosion problems of modem interest.

  • The study analyzes the optimum Korea-China FTA negotiations by utilizing the Putnam's two- level game theoretic approach. According to the Putnam's theory, the size of the win-set depends on the strategies of the Level 1 negotiators. The size of the win-set depends also on the level 2 political institutions and the distribution of power, preferences, and possible conditions among Level 2 constituents. The basic principles for the successful future Korea-China FTA negotiations should be based on comprehensiveness, substantial liberalization and gradual liberalization with consideration of sensitive sectors. This study concludes that mid-level FTA strategy with comprehensive but low tariff reduction would be of best strategy for Korea. This study also suggests the utilization of the EHP(Early Harvest Program) for the successful Korea-China FTA negotiations.

  • Air pollution due to vehicle exhaust gas is considered to be a main contributor to the issues of transportation & environment. Furthermore it is raising concern over life quality and public health and is also perceived as a global issue. This research aims at providing helping hands for both central and local governments to set up and promote efficient atmospheric quality improvement policies, with the help of the travel demand forecasting model and GIS. More specifically, it tries to produce the overall emission level with time and space-based high resolution framework. This research, based on bottom-up approach reflecting vehicular traffic characteristics, suggested an improved approach to estimating emission level, by using a traffic model with a total of vehicular mileage revised by surveyed value and atmosphere model. Summing up, using the method proposed, the improvement of the reliability of the emissions inventory from the mobile pollutions sources is expected by the proposed integrated paradigm of transportation and atmosphere modeling approach as a new alternative.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel data analysis approach that extracts granules suitable for various perspectives by introducing scaling level into formal concept analysis in order to control the level of granularity. Based on our approach, we can extract various granules from the given data set and constructs granular concept hierarchies based on the relations between the granules. Therefore, we can classify the given data with respect to the purpose or the intention of user's viewpoints. And, we developed G-Tool that supports our approach. In order to verify the usefulness of our proposed approach and G-Tool, we have done some experiments for real data set and reported about results of our experiments. From the experiments' results, we can verify our approach with G-Tool can be useful and suitable for classifying the given data with various scaling levels. The traditional formal concept analysis cannot control the level of granularity and can only classify for a particular perspective. However, our proposed approach can classify the given data with respect to user's purpose or intention by combining of diverse scale information and scaling levels.

  • This paper deals with rule extraction from data using rough set theory. We construct the rule base in a hierarchical granulation structure by applying core as a classification criteria at each level. When more than one core exist, the coverage is used for the selection of an appropriate one among them to increase the classification rate and accuracy. In Addition, a probabilistic approach is suggested so that the partially useful information included in inconsistent data can be contributed to knowledge reduction in order to decrease the effect of the uncertainty or vagueness of data. As a result, the proposed method yields more proper and efficient rule base in compatability and size. The simulation result shows that it gives a good performance in spite of very simple rules and short conditionals.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of domestic single-subject research related to the participation of students with intellectual disabilities in classes. Methods : We investigated a total of five papers to determine the features and qualitative levels of the papers being analyzed. Results : A total of 12 subjects were studied, and experiments were conducted at all stages. All research used a multiple baseline design. The independent variables were the positive behavior support approach (2), the strength-oriented activities approach, the self-decision teaching and learning model approach, and the self-monitoring approach. As a dependent variables, there were four pieces set up exclusively for class participation behavior, and one that was set up mixed with class interruptions behaviors. The qualitative level of the studies to be analyzed was 100% of the high level. Conclusion : Through this study, single-subject studies that applied interventions related to participation in class for intellectual disabilities in elementary schools have confirmed that effective interventions were applied and that the quality levels were reliable.

  • In this paper, the dynamic response of a CNC 5 Axles machining center was analyzed and then controlled passively by using the dynamic absorber. For the simplification of the theoretical approach, the CNC 5 Axles machining center was modeled as a flexible beam(Bed) having a point mass(Column), two discrete systems(a Table-set and a dynamic absorber). Specifically by using the dynamic absorber, the dynamic response of a Table-set which be caused by the vibration of a flexible beam, was reduced down to the infinitesimal level. The optimal design factors of the dynamic absorber were obtained from the minimization of the cost function. It was found that the natural frequencies of a UT-380 machining center be varied due to the movement of the Table-set. In view of the dynamic response of a Table-set, the larger spring stiffness and mass of the dynamic absorber were found to give the greater reduction.

  • A topology optimization method for phononic crystals is developed for the design of sound barriers, using the level set approach. Given a frequency and an incident wave to the phononic crystals, an optimal shape of periodic inclusions is found by minimizing the norm of transmittance. In a sound field including scattering bodies, an acoustic wave can be refracted on the obstacle boundaries, which enables to control acoustic performance by taking the shape of inclusions as the design variables. In this research, we consider a layered structure which is composed of inclusions arranged periodically in horizontal direction while finite inclusions are distributed in vertical direction. Due to the periodicity of inclusions, a unit cell can be considered to analyze the wave propagation together with proper boundary conditions which are imposed on the left and right edges of the unit cell using the Bloch theorem. The boundary conditions for the lower and the upper boundaries of unit cell are described by impedance matrices, which represent the transmission of waves between the layered structure and the semi-infinite external media. A level set method is employed to describe the topology and the shape of inclusions. In the level set method, the initial domain is kept fixed and its boundary is represented by an implicit moving boundary embedded in the level set function, which facilitates to handle complicated topological shape changes. Through several numerical examples, the applicability of the proposed method is demonstrated.

  • Packet classification is one of the basic and important functions of the Internet routers, and it became more important along with new emerging application programs requiring real-time transmission. Since packet classification should be accomplished in line-speed on each incoming input packet for multiple header fields, it becomes one of the challenges in designing Internet routers. Various packet classification algorithms have been proposed to provide the high-speed packet classification. Hierarchical approach achieves effective packet classification performance by significantly narrowing down the search space whenever a field lookup is completed. However, hierarchical approach involves back-tracking problem. In order to solve the problem, set-pruning trie and grid-of-trie algorithms are proposed. However, the algorithm either causes excessive node duplication or heavy pre-computation. In this paper, we propose a smart set-pruning trie which reduces the number of node duplication in the set-pruning trie by the simple merging of the lower-level tries. Simulation result shows that the proposed trie has the reduced number of copied nodes by 2-8% compared with the set-pruning trie.

  • This paper proposes an index model which can measure the degree of standardization in the Korean ICT field. We first classified ICT sector into 14 sub-sectors. Then for each sub-sector, we considered a set of important determinants to measure the level of standardization, and constructed a linear equation using this set of determinants. Finally we estimated the relative degree of importance of each determinant using the AHP methodology. The proposed model found that overall level of standardization in the Korean ICT industry is relatively low, and "IMT-2000 technology" and "computer network technology" among 14 sub-sectors are highly standardized sub-sectors, Finally, the validity of the proposed model was also partially proved using two different methods, holistic and historical approach.
