  • This study aimed to investigate health outcome of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients such as mortality and length of stay in hospital and to identify factors associated with the health outcome according to the comorbidity index. Nation-wide representative samples of 3,748 adult inpatients aged between 20-85 years with acute myocardial infarction were derived from the Korea National Hospital Discharge Injury Survey, 2005-2008. Comorbidity index was measured using the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI). The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression, logistic regression analysis in order to investigate the effect of comorbidity on health outcome. According to the study results, the factors associated with length of hospital stay of acute myocardial infarction patients were gender, insurance type, residential area scale, admission route, PCI perform, CABG perform, and CCI. The factors associated with mortality of acute myocardial infarction patients were age, admission route, PCI perform, and CCI. CCI with a higher length of hospital stay and mortality also increased significantly. This study demonstrated comorbidity risk adjustment for health outcome and presented important data for health care policy. In the future study, more detailed and adequate comorbidity measurement tool should be developed, so patients' severity can be adjusted accurately.

  • An acoustic analysis of a fuel-rich gas generator for the drive of a turbopump in a liquid rocket engine has been performed and the length of a duct has been determined by comparing the resonant frequency of unstable acoustic modes to simulate an flight model gas generator, A practical short-length simulating duct has been determined by considering 1 or 2 wavelength of the unstable modes. Length adjustment of duct to turbopump can be a method to suppress a combustion instability problem by decoupling of acoustic mode and combustion characteristics. This method has been set up and validated with acoustic analysis and hot firing tests.

  • Objectives : To investigate contributing degree of other factors except pelvic tilting to F.L.L.D by analizing with Gonstead technique on the correlation between femur head height discrepancy on the standing pelvic AP view and F.L.L.D caused by pelvic tilting. Method : We analysed standing pelvis AP X-ray of 70 patients who had visited at the department acupunture and moxibustion in Conmaul oriental medical hospital, during May, 1st, 2004 - July, 30th, 2004, with low back pain or lower extremity pain. We excluded the person with any past history of polio, genetic defect, malunited fracture, growth plate injury, infection and overgrowth attributable to hemangioma, or arteriovenous fistula. Results & Conclusion : The functional leg length discrepancy caused by pelvic tilting and femur head height difference had no statistical difference(p=0.132) but poorly correlated(Pearson ${\nu}=0.05$). In the 94.28% of subjects, the femur head height difference wasn't in accord with F.L.L.D. caused by pelvic tilting. In 47.14% of subjects were expected to have over $3^{mm}$ of leg length discrepancy after pelvic adjustment. The mean of measurement difference between two methods was $3.76{\pm}3.12^{mm}$ and the range was $0{\sim}11.4^{mm}$. Consequently, we must consider not only functional leg length discrepancy caused by pelvic tilting but also anatomical leg length discrepancy, misalignment of ankle, knee or hip joint etc.

  • In precision farming, proper calibration and operation of a variable rate machine are critical to reduce input of agrochemicals and to ensure productivity and quality of agricultural products. As an effort to introduce precision farming to rice production in Korea, a pneumatic granular applicator was developed. This investigation intended to evaluate the application performance such as application accuracy, application uniformity and to suggest how to adjust the blow-heads to get uniform application pattern, and to suggest a practical way of adjustment of the blow-heads for uniform application. Tests to evaluate the application performance were conducted. The application uniformities (CV) in both transverse direction and longitudinal direction were less than 15% and application accuracy was greater than 81%. A simple method for adjusting the inserting length of blow-heads was suggested.

  • In year 1996, the National Geography Institute(NGI) carried out a National Fundamental Network survey. A total of 220 baselines between 31 stations were occupied that the baseline length is 40 km-120 km(mean 67.4 km). A minimally constrained network adjustment with three dimensional baseline vectors, was carried out holding geocentric ITRF94 coordinates of the station SUWON which are determined by eccentric observations from the VLBI station. This paper shows KTRF94 coordinates of fundamental stations which accuracies are estimated 1 cm in horizontal and 3 cm in vertical. Also, the coordinates are compared to WGS84 and/or KGS95.

  • In transcription for spoken language research, labeling is a work linking text-represented utterance to recorded speech. Most existing labeling tools have been working manually. Semi-automatic labeling we are proposing consists of automation module and manual adjustment module. Automation module extracts voice boundaries utilizing G.Saha's algorithm, and predicts utterance boundaries using the number and length of utterance which established utterance text. For maintaining existing manual tool's accuracy, we provide manual adjustment user interface revising the auto-labeling utterance boundaries. The implemented tool of our semi-automatic algorithm speed up to 27% than existing manual labeling tools.

  • Stochastic and an empirical Green's function (EGF) methods are preliminarily applied to simulate strong ground motions (SGMs) at seismic stations within nuclear power plant (NPP) sites in South Korea by an assumed large earthquake with MW6.5 (scenario earthquake) on the causative fault of the 2016 Gyeongju earthquake with MW5.5 (mainshock). In the stochastic method, a ratio of spectral amplitudes of observed and simulated waveforms for the mainshock is assumed to be an adjustment factor. In the EGF method, SGMs by the mainshock are simulated assuming SGMs by the 2016 Gyeongju earthquake with MW5.0 (foreshock) as the EGF. To simulate SGMs by the scenario earthquake, a ratio of fault length to width is assumed to be 2:1 in the stochastic method, and SGMs by the mainshock are assumed to be EGF in the EGF method. The results are similar based on a bias of the simulated response spectra by the two methods, and the simulated response spectra by the two methods exceeded commonly standard design response spectra anchored at 0.3 g of NPP sites slightly at a frequency band above 4 Hz, but considerable attention to interpretation is required since it is an indirect comparison.

  • In this paper, we present a new method to tool path planning problem for rough cut of pocket milling operations. The key idea is to formulate the tool path problem into a TSP (Travelling Salesman Problem) so that the powerful neural network approach can be effectively applied. Specifically, our method is composed of three procedures: a) discretization of the pocket area into a finite number of tool points, b) neural network approach (called SOM-Self Organizing Map) for path finding, and c) postprocessing for path smoothing and feedrate adjustment. By the neural network procedure, an efficient tool path (in the sense of path length and tool retraction) can be robustly obtained for any arbitrary shaped pockets with many islands. In the postprocessing, a) the detailed shape of the path is fine tuned by eliminating sharp corners of the path segments, and b) any cross-overs between the path segments and islands. With the determined tool path, the feedrate adjustment is finally performed for legitimate motion without requiring excessive cutting forces. The validity and powerfulness of the algorithm is demonstrated through various computer simulations and real machining.

  • Zoom lenses are now starting to be applied to mobile-phone cameras as well. A zoom lens applied to a mobile-phone camera is mainly used to capture images in the telephoto range. Such an optical system has a long focal length, similar to that of a high-magnification zoom optical system, so the position of the imaging device also shifts significantly, due to manufacturing errors of the lenses and mechanical parts. In the past, the positional shift of the imaging device was corrected by moving the first lens group and the total optical system, but this paper confirms that the position of the imaging device can be corrected by selecting any two moving lens groups. However, it is found that more distance must be secured in the front and rear of a moving lens group for this purpose.

  • Satisfactory for children's spectacles fitting can only be achieved with the resonable selection and assortment of frames of different pad shapes, size, materials, the general property of sample frame are flexibility for the temple. Loughness for bridge and variety for the length of temple, a selection of the lens is chosen usually by the characteristic of the power, safty, size and so on, it will be comport fit of frame controlled the hight and width of pad and angle of pad between the nose side, frontal angle of pad will be determinded that whether a frame may be capable of providing a comport fit. An important part of the fitting of spectacles is the final adjustment before the wearer takes them away, and also their continued adjustment to maintain the optimum comport and lens efficiency. It is suggested that spectacle adjustment is essentially a practical art that can only be acquired by continual practice.
