  • Blind techniques without the help of training sequences are able to detect the information signal which has the minimal information of desired user. In this paper, we proposed the blind multiuser detector using the hybrid cost function to cancel the multiple user interference in direct sequence code division multiple access systems. The cost function of proposed blind multiuser detector is the hybrid type which joints both least mean square(LMS) algorithm and least mean fourth(LMF) algorithm. We evaluate the bit error rate(BER) performance of proposed blind multiuser detector under additive white Gaussian noise channel. Simulation results show that the proposed blind detector has an about 3dB of signal to noise ratio more than blind minimum output energy(MOE) multiuser detector under existing active user 20.

  • We extend the sue of the method of least square to develop a recursive algorithm for the design of adaptive transversal filters such that, given the least-square estimate of this vector of the filter at iteration n-l, we may compute the updated estimate of this vector at iteration n upon the arrival of new data. We begin the development of the RLS algorithm by reviewing some basic relations that pertain to the method of least squares. Then, by exploiting a relation in matrix algebra known as the matrix inversion lemma, we develop the RLS algorithm. An important feature of the RLS algorithm is that it utilizes information contained in the input data, extending back to the instant of time when the algorithm is initiated. In this paper, we propose new tap weight updated RLS algorithm in adaptive transversal filter with data-recycling buffer structure. We prove that convergence speed of learning curve of RLS algorithm with data-recycling buffer is faster than it of exiting RLS algorithm to mean square error versus iteration number. Also the resulting rate of convergence is typically an order of magnitude faster than the simple LMS algorithm. We show that the number of desired sample is portion to increase to converge the specified value from the three dimension simulation result of mean square error according to the degree of channel amplitude distortion and data-recycle buffer number. This improvement of convergence character in performance, is achieved at the B times of convergence speed of mean square error increase in data recycle buffer number with new proposed RLS algorithm.

  • In this paper, we studied on an attenuation effect of automobile exhaust noise according to the direction of secondary sound source in duct ANC system. Automobile exhaust noise was recorded at 800rpm. 3500rpm and 5000rpm of a diesel engine. Directions of loudspeaker(second sound source) can be exchanged to $30^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$ and $150^{\circ}$ against the primary noise flow by acrylic ducts to be made for experimentation. DSP board with TMS320C6416 chip of Texas Instrument Co used to control adaptive ANC system. This ANC system is based on the single-channel FxLMS algorithm. In experiment result, when the loud speaker direction was $150^{\circ}$, the attenuation effect showed largely. In case of $90^{\circ}$ duct, the noise was a little increased. In case of $30^{\circ}$ duct, the noise was a little increased or decreased according to the frequency range and the sound pressure(dB) of exhaust noise to comply with engine rpm.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) detection scheme that has an adaptive equalizer and can be applied in the asymmetric optical recording system with high-density. We confirmed that the proposed PRML detector improves detection performance. In addition, we implemented the detector by Verilog HDL. The adaptive equalizer is composed of tap coefficient updating unit using LMS algorithn and FIR filter. FIR filter is implemented by the transposed direct form architecture for high speed operation. Viterbi detector is implemented by the register exchange method.

  • In this paper, a nonlinear algorithm that maximizes zero-error probability (MZEP) with decision feedback (DF) is proposed to counteract both of severely distorted multi-path fading effect and impulsive noise. The proposed MZEP-DF algorithm has shown the immunity to impulsive noise and the ability of the feedback filter section to cancel the remaining intersymbol interference as well. Compared with the linear MZEP algorithm, it yields above 10 dB enhancement of steady state MSE performance in severely distorted multipath fading channels with impulse noise where the least mean square (LMS) algorithm does not converge below -3dB of MSE.

  • The MFC(Mass Flow Controller) is an equipment that measures and controls mass flow rates of fluid. Most of the HFC system is still using the PID algorithm. The PID algorithm shows superior performance on the MFC system. But the PID algorithm in the MFC system has a few problems as followed. The characteristic of the MFC system is changed according to the operating environment. And, when the piezo valve that uses the control valve is assembled in the MFC system, a coupling error is generated. Therefore, it is very difficult to find out the exact parameters of MFC system. In this paper, we propose adaptive PID algorithm in order to compensate these problems of a traditional PID algorithm. The adaptive PID algorithm estimates the parameters of MFC system using LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm and calculates the coefficients of PID controller. Besides, adaptive PID algorithm shows better transient response because adaptive PID algorithm includes a feedforward. And we implement MFC system using proposed adaptive PID algorithm with self-tuning and Ziegler and Nickels's method. Finally, comparative analysis of the proposed adaptive PID and the traditional PID is shown.

  • Least mean square(LMS) algorithm is one of the most popular algorithm in adaptive signal processing because of the simplicity and the small computation. But the convergence speed of time domain adaptive algorithm is slow when the spread width of eigen values is wide. Moreover we have to choose the step size well for convergency in this paper, we use adaptive algorithm of wavelet transform. And we propose a new wavelet based adaptive algorithm of wavelet transform. And we propose a new wavelet based adaptive algorithm with variable step size, which Is linear to absolute value of error signal. We applied this algorithm to adaptive noise canceler. Simulation results are presented to compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with the usual algorithms.

Automobile exhaust noise was recorded at 800 rpm, 3500 rpm and 5000 rpm of a diesel engine. Directions of canceling speaker can be set to $30^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$ and $150^{\circ}$ against the primary noise flow by acrylic ducts to be made for the experimentation. DSP board with TMS320C6416 chip of Texas Instrument Co. used to control the ANC system. The algorithm of this ANC system applied the Filtered-x-LMS algorithm that is modified to compensate for a property of DSP input signal and the secondary-path effect. As an experiment result, the direction of canceling speaker was proved to influence the reduction effect of noise. The $150^{\circ}$ duct in the attenuation effect of noise showed a better result than the $90^{\circ}$ or $30^{\circ}$ duct.

  • In this paper, the feedforward control with least mean square (LMS) adaptive algorithm is proposed and examined to reduce rotating error by runout of an active magnetic bearing system. Using eddy-current type gap sensors for control, the electrical runout caused by non-uniform material properties of sensor target produces rotational error amplified in feedback control loop, so this runout should be eliminated to increase rotating accuracy. The adaptive feedforward controller is designed and examined its tracking performances and stability numerically with established frequency response function. The designed feedforward controller was applied to a grinding spindle system which is manufactured with a 5.5 kW internal motor and 5-axis active magnetic bearing system including 5 eddy current gap sensors which have approximately 15∼30㎛ of electrical runout. According to the experimental results, the error signal in radial bearings is reduced to less than 5 ,Urn when it is rotating up to 50,000 rpm due to applying the feedforward control for first order harmonic frequency, and corresponding vibration of the spindle is also removed.

  • Noise from electronic instrumentation is invariably present in biomedical signals, although the art of instrumentation design is such that this noise source may be negligible. And sometimes signals of interest are contaminated or degraded by signals of similar type from another source. Biomedical signals are omni-presently contaminated by these background noises that span nearly all frequency bandwidths. In the magneto-cardiogram (MCG), several digital filters have been designed for the elimination of the power-line interference, broadband white noise, surrounding magnetic noise, and baseline wondering. In addition to the introduced FIR filter, notch, adaptive filter using the least mean square (LMS) algorithm, and recurrent neural network (RNN) filter, a new filtering method for effective noise canceling in MCG signals is proposed in this paper, which is realized by the wavelet packets. The experimental results show that the proposed filter using wavelet packet performs efficiently with respect to noise rejection. To verify this, two characteristics were analyzed and compared with LMS adaptive filter, SNR of filtered signal and attractor pattern using the nonlinear dynamics.
