경험학습을 통한 소비자교육: 소비자 전문가로서의 사회적 가치와 능력 개발을 중심으로 (Consumer Education through Experiential Learning: Developing Social Responsibility and Soft Skills as Consumer Professionals)

  • As we enter into the 21C, it is important to reassess the knowledge and skills that are necessary for individual consumers and consumer professionals to be able to function efficiently in the rapidly changing society, and also to develop teaching tools fit to enhance the teaming of such knowledge and skills. The Purpose of this study is three-folds: 1) to identify key competencies necessary in the 21C consumer education, especially in higher education institutions, 2) to suggest 'experiential learning' as an ideal pedagogical tool for consumer education in the 21C century, and 3) to provide an example from an undergraduate classroom in the U.S. that applies 'service learning' as a teaching tool in a consumer studies curriculum. Discussions about the potentials for expanding this learning strategy are also provided.

프로그램 학습성과 타당성 관찰을 위한 교과목-임베디드 평가도구 분석 (An Analysis for the Course-Embedded Assessment Tool to Validate Program Outcomes)

  • As society has changed to being more knowledge-based, it is necessary that change of paradigm is incorporated into engineering education and the education goals and the assessment method of educational outcomes is developed to promptly meet the needs of the times. A purpose of this study is to measure learning outcomes in coursework of engineering college every semester, which ultimately provides to validate program outcomes. We looked into teaching-learning style of course in the engineering college and analyzed its grade method and tool. By use of a survey, we derived a reasonable method to measure for the learning outcomes in course and presented tools for course-embedded assessment to measure that learning outcomes had been tied to their objectives. These tools are effective to determine that program outcomes and education goals have been achieved, ultimately. In addition, it will help that instruction builds a loop system for better.

Cyber University Students' Perceptions of a DST Project to Develop English Skills

  • Digital storytelling, a 21st century educational tool that combines digital media with storytelling, is considered as a powerful tool to learn foreign languages in an authentic and meaningful way. This study explored cyber university students' perceptions and experiences with a digital storytelling project implemented to enhance their English writing and speaking skills. The results of 9 week-long research indicated that most of the students' attitudes were positive: the digital storytelling project was effective to increase their English skills, learning motivation and interest in learning English. Most students perceived that the process writing approach and videotaping tasks provided them with good opportunities to develop their English writing and speaking skills. Although many students had difficulties selecting a topic and writing a script in the initial stage, they could handle with these challenges with the help of professors' feedback and successfully completed their projects. After completing the project, most students expressed a strong sense of accomplishment. These results suggest that the digital storytelling project effectively met cyber university students' learning needs and facilitate their English learning.

학습성찰도구로서 e-포트폴리오 활성화를 위한 연구: 경희대학교 사례를 중심으로 (A Research on e-portfolio as a Learning Tool: A Case Study of Kyung Hee University)

  • 요사이 많은 대학에서 사용하고 있는 학습포트폴리오는 학생의 학업 과정 및 산출물을 자료화하여 학업이력을 관리하고, 나아가 자기주도적 학습 역량을 기르는 목적으로 사용되고 있는데, 이를 웹상에서 제공할 경우, e-포트폴리오라고도 불린다. 그러나 대부분의 실제 사례를 살펴보면, 기대한 만큼 활발하게 활용 되고 있지 않으며, 관련 선행연구들도 대부분 소수 학생 사례 중심이거나 학습포트폴리오의 장단점에 대한 일반적인 연구로 이루어져 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 좀 더 많은 학생을 대상으로 한 구체적인 활용 사례를 분석하여, 학습 포트폴리오를 학습도구로서 활성화시킬 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구는 총 289명의 경희대학교 학부 학생들이 사용하고 있는 경희대학교 e-포트폴리오 프로그램을 대상으로 하였으며, e-포트폴리오 활성화 방안을 도출하기 위해, 학생들의 e-포트폴리오에 올라와 있는 '성찰저널'와 '참여 만족도 설문지'를 분석 자료로써 활용하였다. 그 결과에 따르면, 학생 대부분이 e-포트폴리오를 학습도구로는 활용하고 있지만, e-포트폴리오가 좀 더 활성화되기 위해서는 몇 가지 시스템 및 운영방법의 개선이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 참여 학생들의 요구사항과 국내외 대학에서 운영되는 e-포트폴리오 사례를 참조하여 e-포트폴리오 시스템의 개선이라는 측면에 초점을 두고 활성화 방안을 제안하였다.

  • 최근 가상교육에서 학습 기술의 상호 운용성을 기반으로 한 표준화의 필요성을 인식하고 여러 국제표준기관을 통해서 기반 환경과 컨텐트 명세 및 활용에 대한 표준화 작업이 이루어지고 있다. 이로 인해 e-learning 분야에서는 국제표준을 소개하고 체제적으로 AICC(Aviation Industry CBT Committee), IMS(Instructional Management Systems) Global Learning Consortium, ADL(Advanced Distributed Learning)을 중심으로 진행되어 오고 있다. 특히, 미래의 진보적인 e-learning 환경 개발로, 기능별 5계층으로 구성된 LTSA(Learning Technology Standard Architecture)를 제정하고 이를 통한 개발을 지원하고 있다. 하지만, 이는 시스템 구성요소를 정의한 계층 3의 경우 데이터 흐름 모델로 작성되어 현재 개발 수준과 일치하지 않는 문제점을 가지는 모델로 인정한다. 본 논문에서는 표준 모델링 언어인 UML(Unified Modeling Language)을 통해 모델을 재정의하고, 각 프로세스별 단계를 메타모델로 제시하여 개발과 아키텍처의 이해에 대한 문제점을 해결하고자 한다. 또한, 재정의된 모델을 기반으로 e-learning 지원을 위한 분석, 설계 프로세스를 정의하여 이에 대한 사례를 제시한다. 이는 아키텍처를 기반으로 한 메타모델과 프로세스를 통한 교육영역의 질의 응답 학습 도구인 QALT(Query-Answer Learning Tool)에 적용한다. 모델의 재정의로 아키텍처의 이해성 및 이를 기반으로 하는 교육용 애플리케이션 개발의 용이성의 증대를 기대할 수 있으며, 모델의 재사용성을 보장할 수 있다.

냉동수업에서 프로젝트 학습법이 학생들에게 미치는 영향 (An Effect of Project Learning Method in the Refrigeration Instruction for Students)

  • In this research, as an educational tool in the Refrigeration instruction, a project learning method was applied which enables active hand on practice and encourages a more active participation of students with an increased level of interest in learning. The purpose of this study is to present project learning method as an educational tool that can arouse interest and motivation of students by an active hands-on learning process. This will aid in the enhancement of understanding of educators and students in the project learning method, and assist in development of project learning method that can increase intuitiveness and originality of students. For the purpose of the study, the following questions were asked. First, what is the level of existing knowledge pertaining to Refrigeration Training Program of students? Second, what effect does Refrigeration Training Program conducted via the project approach have on the level of motivation and interest of students? Third, what effect does Refrigeration Training Program conducted via the project approach have on the study habits of students?

그래픽 계산기를 활용하는 수학과 교수-학습 자료 모형 개발 연구 (Study on the Development of a Model for Teaching and Learning Mathematics Using Graphic Calculators)

  • This study is focused on the possibility if we can use graphic calculators in teaching and learning school mathematics. This study is consisted with four main chapters. In chapter II, the functions of the graphic calculator EL-9600 produced by Sharp Corporation was analyzed focused on the possibilities if the functions could be used in teaching and learning school mathematics. Calculating of real numbers and complex numbers, solving equations and system of linear equations, calculating of matrices, graphing of several functions including polynomial functions, trigonometric functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, calculation of differential and integrals, arranging of statical data, graphing of statistical data, testing of statistical hypotheses, and other more useful functions were founded. In Chapter III, a mathematics textbook developed by Core-Plus Mathematics Project was analyzed focused on how a graphic calculator was used in teaching and learning mathematics, In the textbook, graphic calculator was used as a tool in understanding mathematical concepts and solving problems. Graphic calculator is not just a tool to do complex computations but a tool used in the processes of doing mathematics, In chapter IV, the 7th mathematics curriculum for korean secondary schools was analyzed to find the contents could be taught by using graphic calculators. Most of the domains, except geometric figure, were found that they could be taught by using graphic calculators, In chapter V, a model of a unit using graphic calculator in teaching 7th mathematics curriculum was developed. In this model, graphic calculator was used as a tool in the processes of understanding mathematical concepts and solving problems. This study suggests the possibilities that we can use graphic calculators effectively in teaching and learning mathematical concepts and problem solving for most domains of secondary school mathematics.

A Novel Fundus Image Reading Tool for Efficient Generation of a Multi-dimensional Categorical Image Database for Machine Learning Algorithm Training

  • Background: We described a novel multi-step retinal fundus image reading system for providing high-quality large data for machine learning algorithms, and assessed the grader variability in the large-scale dataset generated with this system. Methods: A 5-step retinal fundus image reading tool was developed that rates image quality, presence of abnormality, findings with location information, diagnoses, and clinical significance. Each image was evaluated by 3 different graders. Agreements among graders for each decision were evaluated. Results: The 234,242 readings of 79,458 images were collected from 55 licensed ophthalmologists during 6 months. The 34,364 images were graded as abnormal by at-least one rater. Of these, all three raters agreed in 46.6% in abnormality, while 69.9% of the images were rated as abnormal by two or more raters. Agreement rate of at-least two raters on a certain finding was 26.7%-65.2%, and complete agreement rate of all-three raters was 5.7%-43.3%. As for diagnoses, agreement of at-least two raters was 35.6%-65.6%, and complete agreement rate was 11.0%-40.0%. Agreement of findings and diagnoses were higher when restricted to images with prior complete agreement on abnormality. Retinal/glaucoma specialists showed higher agreements on findings and diagnoses of their corresponding subspecialties. Conclusion: This novel reading tool for retinal fundus images generated a large-scale dataset with high level of information, which can be utilized in future development of machine learning-based algorithms for automated identification of abnormal conditions and clinical decision supporting system. These results emphasize the importance of addressing grader variability in algorithm developments.

영어학습 도구로서 기계번역기의 가용성 분석 - as구문 역번역을 통하여 (Analysis of the Usability of Machine Translators as an English Learning Tool -Through backtranslation of the as phrase)

  • 기계번역기는 1950년대 처음 등장하였고 2010년대 신경망번역시스템을 적용하면서 번역정확성에 비약적인 발전을 하였다. 하지만 아직도 복잡한 문장의 번역에는 어려움을 겪고 있으며 이것은 영어학습 도구로서 기계번역기를 이용하는데 불편함을 주었다. 따라서 본 연구는 고등학교 1학년 수준의 문장들 중 다양한 뜻과 품사를 가지고 있는 as가 포함된 문장들을 분석대상으로 기계번역기를 이용한 역번역실험을 통해서 영어학습 도구로서 기계번역기의 가용성을 분석했다. 분석도구로는 신경망번역시스템을 이용한 대표적인 기계번역기인 구글 번역기, 네이버 파파고, 마이크로소프트 번역기를 이용하였다. 연구결과 기계번역기 사용시 각 as용법에 따라서 가용성이 유의하게 다른 것을 확인하였고 그에 따라 각 문장에 쓰인 as용법을 기계번역기를 사용하여 학습할 시 가용성이 높은 용법, 보통인 용법, 낮은 용법으로 분류하였다. 선행연구와는 다르게 직접 학습도구로서 기계번역기를 분석했고 접속사 as의 용법의 가용성을 수치화 시킨 데 있어서 본 연구는 연구적 공헌점을 가진다.

Comparison of Machine Learning Tools for Mobile Application

  • Demand for machine learning systems continues to grow, and cloud machine learning platforms are widely used to meet this demand. Recently, the performance improvement of the application processor of smartphones has become an opportunity for the machine learning platform to move from the cloud to On-Device AI, and mobile applications equipped with machine learning functions are required. In this paper, machine learning tools for mobile applications are investigated and compared the characteristics of these tools.
