We propose a parallel neural network model in which patterns are clustered and patterns in a cluster are studied in a parallel neural network. The learning algorithm used in this paper is based on LVQ algorithm of Kohonen(1990) for clustering and ADALINE(Adaptive Linear Neuron) network of Widrow and Hoff(1990) for parallel learning. The proposed algorithm consists of two parts. First, N patterns to be learned are categorized into C clusters by LVQ clustering algorithm. Second, C patterns that was selected from each cluster of C are learned as input pattern of ADALINE(Adaptive Linear Neuron). Data used in this paper consists of 250 patterns of ASCII characters normalized into $8\times16$ and 1124. The proposed algorithm consists of two parts. Data used in this paper consists 250 patterns of ASCII characters normalized into $8\times16$ and 1124 samples acquired from signals generated from 9 car models that passed Inductive Loop Detector(ILD) at 10 points. In ASCII character experiment, 191(179) out of 250 patterns are recognized with 3%(5%) noise and with 1124 car model data. 807 car models were recognized showing 71.8% recognition ratio. This result is 10.2% improvement over backpropagation algorithm.
This paper proposed a method of validation data augmentation for improving the grading accuracy of diabetic macular edema (DME) using deep learning. The data augmentation technique is basically applied in order to secure diversity of data by transforming one image to several images through random translation, rotation, scaling and reflection in preparation of input data of the deep neural network (DNN). In this paper, we apply this technique in the validation process of the trained DNN, and improve the grading accuracy by combining the classification results of the augmented images. To verify the effectiveness, 1,200 retinal images of Messidor dataset was divided into training and validation data at the ratio 7:3. By applying random augmentation to 359 validation data, $1.61{\pm}0.55%$ accuracy improvement was achieved in the case of six times augmentation (N=6). This simple method has shown that the accuracy can be improved in the N range from 2 to 6 with the correlation coefficient of 0.5667. Therefore, it is expected to help improve the diagnostic accuracy of DME with the grading information provided by the proposed DNN.
In this paper, we propose a application of conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) for generation of contrast enhanced computed tomography (CT) image. Two types of CT data which were the enhanced and non-enhanced were used and applied by the histogram equalization for adjusting image intensities. In order to validate the generation of contrast enhanced CT data, the structural similarity index measurement (SSIM) was performed. Prepared generated contrast CT data were analyzed the statistical analysis using paired sample t-test. In order to apply the optimized algorithm for the lymph node cancer, they were calculated by short to long axis ratio (S/L) method. In the case of the model trained with CT data and their histogram equalized SSIM were $0.905{\pm}0.048$ and $0.908{\pm}0.047$. The tumor S/L of generated contrast enhanced CT data were validated similar to the ground truth when they were compared to scanned contrast enhanced CT data. It is expected that advantages of Generated contrast enhanced CT data based on deep learning are a cost-effective and less radiation exposure as well as further anatomical information with non-enhanced CT data.

The Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) is the instrument of Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) to study the magnetic field and oscillation at the solar surface. The HMI image is not enough to analyze very small magnetic features on solar surface since it has a spatial resolution of one arcsec. Super resolution is a technique that enhances the resolution of a low resolution image. In this study, we use a method for enhancing the solar image resolution using a Deep-learning model which generates a high resolution HMI image from a low resolution HMI image (4 by 4 binning). Deep learning networks try to find the hidden equation between low resolution image and high resolution image from given input and the corresponding output image. In this study, we trained a model based on a very deep residual channel attention networks (RCAN) with HMI images in 2014 and test it with HMI images in 2015. We find that the model achieves high quality results in view of both visual and measures: 31.40 peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR), Correlation Coefficient (0.96), Root mean square error (RMSE) is 0.004. This result is much better than the conventional bi-cubic interpolation. We will apply this model to full-resolution SDO/HMI and GST magnetograms.
Purpose The purpose of this study is to present the direction of efficient e-learning education through the importance and satisfaction survey of learners of non-face-to-face video lectures. Therefore, by grasping the degree of satisfaction of the importance ratio through the IPA analysis method, we try to present improvement measures for insufficient education methods. Design/methodology/approach For IPA analysis, we conducted an online survey of four universities and analyzed 154 samples. The analysis method used SPSS, and through the wordcloud analysis method of R, the suggestions for the non-face-to-face lecture method felt by learners were analyzed to derive implications for improving the quality of education. Findings As a result of the overall satisfaction survey for the entire non-face-to-face class, the factors with the greatest dissatisfaction are listed as follows. Complaints about the adequacy of learning materials and activities (quiz, discussion, assignments, etc.), Complaints about how to use the produced content, and complaints about announcements about class management (lecture schedule, lecture method) were identified in order. The factors of dissatisfaction were clear in the non-face-to-face class where interactive communication was impossible or insufficient. In addition to the lack of quick Q&A, there seems to have been a phenomenon of some neglect.
We report the discovery of four quasars with M1450 ≳ -25.0 mag at z ~ 5 and supermassive black hole mass measurement for one of the quasars. They were selected as promising high-redshift quasar candidates via deep learning and Bayesian information criterion, which are expected to be effective in discriminating quasars from the late-type stars and high-redshift galaxies. The candidates were observed by the Double Spectrograph on the Palomar 200-inch Hale Telescope. They show clear Lyα breaks at about 7000-8000 Å, indicating they are quasars at 4.7 < z < 5.6. For HSC J233107-001014, we measure the mass of its supermassive black hole (SMBH) using its C IV λ1549 emission line. The SMBH mass and Eddington ratio of the quasar are found to be ~108 M⊙ and ~0.6, respectively. This suggests that this quasar possibly harbors a fast growing SMBH near the Eddington limit despite its faintness (LBol < 1046 erg s-1). Our 100% quasar identification rate supports high efficiency of our deep learning and Bayesian information criterion selection method, which can be applied to future surveys to increase high-redshift quasar sample.

The development of midinfrared (mid-IR) quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) has enabled rapid high-contrast measurement of the mid-IR spectra of biological tissues. Several studies have compared the differences between the mid-IR spectra of colon cancer and noncancerous colon tissues. Most mid-IR spectrum classification studies have been proposed as machine-learning-based algorithms, but this results in deviations depending on the initial data and threshold values. We aim to develop a process for classifying colon cancer and noncancerous colon tissues through a deep-learning-based convolutional-neural-network (CNN) model. First, we image the midinfrared spectrum for the CNN model, an image-based deep-learning (DL) algorithm. Then, it is trained with the CNN algorithm and the classification ratio is evaluated using the test data. When the tissue microarray (TMA) and routine pathological slide are tested, the ML-based support-vector-machine (SVM) model produces biased results, whereas we confirm that the CNN model classifies colon cancer and noncancerous colon tissues. These results demonstrate that the CNN model using midinfrared-spectrum images is effective at classifying colon cancer tissue and noncancerous colon tissue, and not only submillimeter-sized TMA but also routine colon cancer tissue samples a few tens of millimeters in size.

As one of the most vulnerable countries to floods, there should be an increased necessity for accurate and reliable flood forecasting in Indonesia. Therefore, a new prediction model using a machine learning algorithm is proposed to provide daily flood prediction in Indonesia. Data crawling was conducted to obtain daily rainfall, streamflow, land cover, and flood data from 2008 to 2021. The model was built using a Random Forest (RF) algorithm for classification to predict future floods by inputting three days of rainfall rate, forest ratio, and stream flow. The accuracy, specificity, precision, recall, and F1-score on the test dataset using the RF algorithm are approximately 94.93%, 68.24%, 94.34%, 99.97%, and 97.08%, respectively. Moreover, the AUC (Area Under the Curve) of the ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristics) curve results in 71%. The objective of this research is providing a model that predicts flood events accurately in Indonesian regions 3 months prior the day of flood. As a trial, we used the month of June 2022 and the model predicted the flood events accurately. The result of prediction is then published to the website as a warning system as a form of flood mitigation.
In order to establish the risk criteria of inundation due to typhoons or heavy rainfall, research is underway to predict the limit rainfall using basin characteristics, limit rainfall and artificial intelligence algorithms. In order to improve the model performance in estimating the limit rainfall, the learning data are used after the pre-processing. When 50.0% of the entire data was removed as an outlier in the pre-processing process, it was confirmed that the accuracy is over 90%. However, the use rate of learning data is very low, so there is a limitation that various characteristics cannot be considered. Accordingly, in order to predict the limit rainfall reflecting various watershed characteristics by increasing the use rate of learning data, the watersheds with similar characteristics were clustered. The algorithms used for clustering are K-Means, Agglomerative, DBSCAN and Spectral Clustering. The k-Means, DBSCAN and Agglomerative clustering algorithms are clustered at the impervious area ratio, and the Spectral clustering algorithm is clustered in various forms depending on the parameters. If the results of the clustering algorithm are applied to the limit rainfall prediction algorithm, various watershed characteristics will be considered, and at the same time, the performance of predicting the limit rainfall will be improved.
