상호작용하는 메탄-수소 예혼합 대향류화염에 관한 연구 (A Study on Interacting $CH_4$-Air and $H_2/N_2$-Air Premixed Counterflow Flames)

  • Using a counterflow burner, downstream interactions between $CH_4$-air and $H_2/N_2$-Air premixed flames with various equivalence ratios has been experimentally investigated. Flame stability maps on triple and twin flames are provided in terms of global strain rate and equivalence ratio. Lean and rich flammable limits are examined for methane/air and hydrogen/nitrogen/air mixtures over the entire range of mixture concentrations in the interacting flames. Results show that these flammable limits can be significantly modified in the presence of interaction such that mixture conditions beyond the flammability limit can be still burn if it is supported by stronger flame. The experiment also discusses various oscillatory instabilities in a stability map.

  • The present study describes an investigation into the characteristics of combustion oscillation and its suppression instability of a silo type gas turbine combustor in commercial power plant. Combustion oscillation is occurred the combustor in near full load during operation. As a result of FFT analysis of the combustion dynamics, the frequency of the oscillation is analyzed as the 1'st longitudinal mode of acoustic resonance of the combustor. For suppress of the instability, combustion tuning with adjust of fuel valve schedule is carried out, which changes equivalent ratio of each burners. As the result, the oscillation is successfully reduced with meeting the level of NOx emission regulation.

  • 본 논문에서는 많은 가스터빈 산업체 및 연구기관에서 연소불안정 현상과 관련된 변수들을 예측하기 위해 가장 보편적으로 이루어지고 있는 열음향 해석 모델에 대한 기술 소개 및 최근의 연구 동향을 분석하였다. 선형 시스템 해석을 통하여 연소 불안정이 발생하는 고유 주파수 및 불안정 초기 성장률의 예측이 가능하다. 이를 위하여 정의된 시스템에서의 음향파와 열발생율 섭동간의 선형 관계식을 선형 음향 이론으로부터 유도할 수 있고, 이 관계식의 해를 구하기 위해서 가장 중요한 부분은 화염 전달 함수로부터 n-${\tau}$ 함수를 구하여 열발생율 섭동 결과에 대한 정보를 얻는 것이다. 현재까지의 연구 결과로부터 선형 특성 해석에는 상당한 진보가 이루어져 왔고, 실제 가스터빈 연소기에 적용하는 노력이 있었으나, 한계 진폭과 과도기 현상 예측을 위해서 요구되는 비선형 동적 특성 모델링 기술 개발은 현재 간단한 연소기와 버너의 적용에 머물러 있는 실정이다. 실제 복잡한 가스터빈과 같은 연소 시스템에 적용되기 위해서는 비선형 경계 조건을 고려한 시스템 동적 특성 연구와 화염의 비선형 거동을 더욱 정확히 설명할 수 있는 전달 함수에 대한 예측 기술이 선행되어야 한다.

  • In this paper we propose a new approach for an analysis and a prediction of combustion instability of lean premixed gas turbines. Our approach is based on the Nyquist stability criterion in control theory and a transfer function representation of a one-dimensional (1D) thermoacoustic system. A key advantage of the proposed approach is that one can systematically characterize the effects of various parameters of a combustor system on combustion instability. Our analysis method was applied to a real combustion system and the analysis results were consistent with experimental data.

  • Three-dimensional numerical investigations are carried out to understand the combustion characteristics inside a DLN(dry low NOx) utility gas turbine combustor during the combustion mode change period by applying transient fuel flow rates in fuel supply system as numerical boundary conditions. The numerical solution domain comprises the complex combustor liner including cooling air holes, three types of fuel nozzles, a swirl vane, and a venturi. Detailed three-dimensional flow and temperature fields before and after combustion mode changeover have been analyzed. The results may be useful for further studies on the unfavorable phenomena, such as flashback or thermal damage of combustor parts when the combustion mode changes.

정적연소실에서 메탄-공기 예혼합화염의 CO, $CO_2$ 및 NOx 배출 특성 (CO, $CO_2$ and NOx Emission Characteristics of Methane-Air Premixed Flame in Constant Volume Combustion Chamber)

  • This paper presents the effects of initial pressure of mixture on CO, $CO_2$ and NOx emissions in constant volume combustion chamber. The CO, $CO_2,O_2,N_2$ concentrations in the chamber are determined by thermal conductivity detection (Gas-chromatograph) wile the NOx concentration is measured by chemiluminescent detection (NOx Analyser). Methane-air mixture is used as premixed fuel and the measurements are taken with equivalence ratios($\phi$) varing from 0.6 to 1.3, and initial pressures of methane-air mixture varing from 0.1MPa to 0.8MPa in constant volume combustion chamber. The NOx concentration steadily increases with increasing equivalence ratio, peaks in lean flame ($\phi$=0.85~0.9), and then rapidly decreases. However, as the initial pressure of mixture is increased, the equivalence ratio corresponding to the point of peak [NOx] shifts towards leaner conditions. This is caused by a similar shift in the peak [CH], which is caused by the variation with pressure and equivalence ratio of the rate of CH production from $CH_2$ and OH. The maximum combustion pressure peaks at $\phi$ =1.05 and the $CO_2$ concentration peaks at $\phi$=0.95~1.0 while the CO concentration rises sharply at the condition of fuel-rich mixtures. This is caused by complete combustion at $\phi$=0.95.

  • 희박 예혼합 스월 연소기의 난류 연소와 화학반응간의 간섭 메커니즘을 파악하기 위하여 Large Eddy Simulation(LES)을 수행하였다. 난류 화염의 유동 특성을 자세히 살펴보기 위하여 비정상 난류 연소 수치해석 기법을 적용하여, 약간의 연료 덩어리가 일차연소영역(Primary combustion zone)에서 빠져나와 선회 방향으로 흘러 국부적 핫스팟(hot spot)을 발생시키며, 이는 large vortical structure를 만들어 내는 것을 관찰 할 수 있었다. 압력변동과 비정상 열 방출 사이의 관계는 공간 및 시간적 Rayleigh parameter에 의해 고찰되었다.

  • This study has numerically modeled the combustion processes of the turbulent swirling premixed lifted syngas flames in the low-swirl burner (LSB). In these turbulent swirling premixed flames, the four tangentially-injected air jets induce the turbulent swirling flow which plays the crucial role of stabilizing the turbulent lifted flames. In the present approach, the turbulence-chemistry interaction is represented by the level-set based flamelet model. Numerical results indicate clearly that the present level-set based flamelet approach has realistically simulated the structure and stabilization mechanism of the turbulent swirling premixed lifted flames in the low-swirl burner. Computations are made for the wide range of the syngas chemical composition and the dilution level at two pressure conditions (1.0, 5.0 bar). Numerical results indicate that the lifted height in the LSB is increased by decreasing the H2 percentage and increasing the dilution level at the given equivalence ratio. It is also found that the flashback is occurred for the hydrogen composition higher than 80% at the equivalence ratio, 0.8. However, at the syngas composition range in the IGCC system, the stable lean-premixed lifted flames are formed at the low-swirl burner.

  • In this paper, we study effect of the factors, participating in the combustion as the initial conditions, such as the flow characteristics of the mixture and the initial temperature, pressure and equivalence ratio in the chamber on the ignitability of the mixture, the combustion duration and the maximum combustion-pressure. The experiment was performed in a constant-volume combustion chamber, with turbulent flow inside, equivalent to the actual engine at TDC. The present experiment utilizes three devices which differ from each other in the distribution and the magnitude of discharge energy.
