Navigation Control Architecture of the Reactive Layer for Autonomous Mobile Robots (자율이동로봇을 위한 반사층의 실시간 주행제어구조)

  • In a hybrid three-layer control architecture(deliberative, sequencing, and reflexive), the lowest reflexive layer consists of resources, actions, an action coordinator, and motion controllers. Because the execution of individual components in the reflexive layer should be done in real-time, each component has to be simple and, due to this reason, the Linux-RTAI(Real-Time Application Interface for Linux) has been used as an operating system. In this paper, a navigation control architecture, which combines the components in the reflexive layer and the navigation-related modules in the sequencing layer, is proposed. And then, as basic components, four actions(Goto, Avoid, Move, and EmergencyStop) are designed. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed architecture and the performance of individual associated actions.

  • 본 논문에서는 인간형 로봇의 태스크 실행 중 자율 감정 생성을 위하여 Three-layered hybrid architecture에 기반한 감정 반응 시스템을 제안한다. Three-layered hybrid architecture는 Deliberative layer, Reactive layer Hardware abstraction layer의 3단계의 계층으로 되어 있으며, 모바일 로봇의 자율 동작을 위해서 개발되었다. 본 연구에서는 저자가 개발중인 안드로이드 EveR-2의 감정 시스템에 적용하여 로봇의 태스크 동작 중에 외부의 자극들로부터 자신의 감정을 생성하고, 생성된 감정과 태스크를 조합하여 자신의 행동을 변화시키며 인간과 상호작용하는 로봇 감정 시스템을 구현하였다.

Cross-Layer Architecture for QoS Provisioning in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks

  • In this paper, we first survey cross-layer architectures for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs). Afterwards, we propose a novel cross-layer architecture for QoS provisioning in clustered and multi-hop based WMSNs. The proposed architecture provides support for multiple network-based applications on a single sensor node. For supporting multiple applications on a single node, an area in memory is reserved where each application can store its network protocols settings. Furthermore, the proposed cross-layer architecture supports heterogeneous flows by classifying WMSN traffic into six traffic classes. The architecture incorporates a service differentiation module for QoS provisioning in WMSNs. The service differentiation module defines the forwarding behavior corresponding to each traffic class. The forwarding behavior is primarily determined by the priority of the traffic class, moreover the service differentiation module allocates bandwidth to each traffic class with goals to maximize network utilization and avoid starvation of low priority flows. The proposal incorporates the congestion detection and control algorithm. Upon detection of congestion, the congested node makes an estimate of the data rate that should be used by the node itself and its one-hop away upstream nodes. While estimating the data rate, the congested node considers the characteristics of different traffic classes along with their total bandwidth usage. The architecture uses a shared database to enable cross-layer interactions. Application's network protocol settings and the interaction with the shared database is done through a cross-layer optimization middleware.

  • Demands for higher productivity in container terminal environments continues to escalate consideration of equipment upgrades. And then transportation of containers using the automated container crane becomes more and more important for productivity enhancements. Introducing a hybrid control architecture to the container crane, it provides a effective means to the automated operation of the container crane. This paper addresses the methodology for automation of container cranes. In addition, this paper proposes a new control architecture for the automated container crane and explains each component of that architecture. The control architecture is composed of a deliberative control layer, a sequencing layer, and a reactive control layer. The proposed architecture is applied to a dual-hoist double-trolley container crane.

  • Of critical importance to the success of any e-commerce site are the two factors: rapid application development and quick response time. A three-tier architecture composed of presentation layer, business layer, and data access layer emerges to allow rapid changes in user interface, business logic, and database structures. Too often, such a logical three-tier architecture is considered as requiring a three-tier physical architecture: Web server, application server, and database server running on separate computers. Contrary to the common belief, a Web stress test reveals that the three-tier logical architecture implemented on a two-tier physical platform guarantees a quicker response time due to the reduction in cross-machine communications. This would lead business firms to economize their spending on e-commerce: increasing the number of physical servers to expedite transaction is not necessarily the best solution. Before selecting a particular hardware configuration, a Web stress test needs to be conducted to compare the relative merits of alternative physical architectures. Together with capacity planning, Web stress test emerges as a powerful tool to build robust, yet economical e-commerce sites.

  • This paper proposes an efficient architecture of Inter layer up-sampling in decoder for SVC(scalable video coding). A register bank for horizontal and vertical up-sampling and interpolation units are designed, by introducing the proposed architecture, 41% memory bandwidth is reduced compared to JSVM. For real-time operation for HD 6 layer decoder having CIF, SD, HD resolution for CGS layer, the hardware is designed to operate at 127MHz. The gate count is about 3000.

  • 조직에조직에서 정보기술의 원칙과 Framework이 없는 청사진으로 인해 업무의 통합 및 효율적인 정보기술 관리가 불가능하고, 투자 비용만 증가하게 되었다. 정보기술아키텍쳐 (ITA)를 대상 엔터프라이즈에 적용하기 위해서는 다양한 관점에서 엔터프라이즈를 바라보며 현상을 분석하고 해결 할 수 있는 Framework이 필요하며 이 Framework를 통해 정보기술아키텍쳐가 개발 및 유지 되어야 한다. 따라서, Strategy Layer, Framework Layer, Architecture Layer로 구성된 TAPark Framework를 제안하였다. 먼저, Strategy Layer에서는 EAP를 통해서 정보화 청사진의 원칙과 전략을 수립하고, Framework Layer에서는 기술 참조모델로 HanTRM을 제안하였고 HanTRM 서비스에 해당 표준들을 매핑시켰다. 또한 통합과 상호운영의 근간인 상호운용성 능력모델(LISI-CM)과 조직의 기술 인프라 현황을 분석 및 평가할 수 있는 Control과 정보자산의 통합관리를 제공하는 Asset을 제안하였다. Architecture Layer에서는 Framework을 기준으로 EA, TA를 수행하며 마지막으로 Engineering Layer에 있는 S/W Engineering, Infrastructure를 통하여 효과적으로 정보기술 아키텍처를 개발할 수 있다.

  • A URC, which is a Ubiquitous Robot Companion, provides services to users in ubiquitous computing environments and has advantage of simplifying robot's hardware and software by distributing the complicated functionality of robots to other system. In this paper, we propose SOWL, which is a software architecture for URC robots and a mixed word of SOMAR and CAWL. SOWL keeps the advantages of URC and it also has the loosely-coupled characteristics. Moreover it makes it easy to develop of URC robot software. The proposed architecture is composed of 4 layers: device software, robot software, robot application, and end user layer. Developers of the each layer is able to build software suitable for their requirements by combining software modules in the lower layer. SOWL consists of SOMAR and CAWL engine. SOMAR, which is a middleware for the execution of device software and robot software, is based on service-oriented architecture(SOA) for robot software. CAWL engine is a system to process CAWL which is a context-aware workflow language. SOWL is able to provide a layered architecture for the execution of a robot software. It also makes it possible for developers of the each layer to build module-based robot software.

Characteristics of Ocean Wave Radiation Patterns in a Dense Layer of Fluid (밀도층 유체에서 해양 방사파 패턴 특징)

  • The sea is stratified with water that has different densities because of pressure, temperature, and salinity. When conducting studies of internal waves in the ocean, the fluid is assumed to have layers that have discrete densities. This assumption is made because it is difficult to achieve layers that exhibit gradual changes in the density of the water. In this study, we used previous studies on ocean waves and their radiation issues in the density layer fluid to investigate the characteristics of internal waves in the ocean and their radiation patterns induced by a moving body in a stratified fluid. We also studied the difference in wave radiation between the density gradient layer and the discrete density layer. We found that the wave radiation patterns depended on the velocity of the moving body and the change in the density of the water. The crest apex shift phenomenon was observed in the density gradient in the layer of fluid.

Adaptable Online Game Server Design

  • This paper discusses how to design a game server that is scalable, adaptable, and re-buildable with components. Furthermore, it explains how various implementation issues were resolved. To support adaptability, the server comprises three layers: network, user, and database. To ensure independence between the layers, each layer was designed to communicate with each other only via message queues. In this architecture, each layer can have an arbitrary number of threads; thus, scalability is guaranteed for each layer. The network layer uses input/output completion ports(IOCP), which shows the best performance on the Windows platform, it can handle up to 5,000 simultaneous connections on a typical entry-level computer, despite being built with a single-threaded user layer. To completely separate the database from the game server, the SQL code was not directly embedded in the database layer.
