A very large shell-structure built in shipyards like ship hulls or offshore structures are joined by welding through full process. As the welding contains a high thermal cycle at a local area, the welded structures should be distorted unavoidably. Because a distorted ship block should be revised to the designed value before the next stage, the ability to predict and to control the weld distortion is an accuracy level of the yard itself. Despite the ship block size, several present thermal distortion methodologies can deal those sizes, but it is a different story to deal full ship size model. Even a fully constructed ship hull not remaining any welding can have an accuracy issue like outfitting installation problems. Any present thermal distortion methodology cannot accept this size for its recommended element size and the number. The ordinary welding breadth at erection stage is about 20~40 mm. It can hardly be a good choice to make finite element model of these sizes considering human effort and computational environment. The finite element model for structure analysis of a ship hull is prepared at front-end engineering design stage which is the first process of the project. The element size of the model is as fine as the longitudinal space, and it is not proper to obtain a weld distortion at the erection stage. In this study, a methodology is suggested that a weldment can be shrunk at original place instead of using structural finite element model. We cut the original shell elements at erection weld-line and put truss elements between the edges of cut elements for weld shrinkage. Additional truss elements are used to facsimile transverse weld shrinkage which cannot be from the weld-line truss element shrink. They attach to weld-line truss element like twigs from barks. The capacity of developed elements is verified through an accuracy check of erection process of a container vessel at the apt. hull. It can be a useful tool for verifying a centering accuracy after renew and for block-separating planning considering accuracy.
Purpose: This study was conducted to obtain experimental data for the establishment of preventive measures against fire, as large and small fire accidents occur at production and storage sites of superabsorbent polymers developed for the convenience of daily life. Method: The sample container was fixed at 0.2m in both length and width, and was shaped into a rectangular cuboid with heights of 3cm, 5cm, 7cm, and 14cm to access an infinite flat plane. The sample container was fixed in the center of a thermostatic bath that was heated to a predetermined temperature according to a preset temperature control program. If the central temperature of the sample rose more than 20℃ above the set temperature, it was determined to have 'ignited', and if it remained similar to the set temperature, it was determined to have 'unignited'. Result: The critical autoignition temperature was calculated to be 212.5℃ for a sample container with a height of 3cm, 202.5℃ for 5cm, 192.5℃ for 7cm, and 177.5℃ for 14cm. The ignition induction time to reach the highest temperature was approximately 42hours for 3cm, 91hours for 5cm, 151hours for 7cm, and 300hours for 14cm. Conclusion:① As the size of the sample container increased, the autoignition temperature decreased and the ignition induction time to reach the highest temperature increased. ② The apparent activation energy was calculated to be 39.30kcal/mol, with a correlation of 99.5%.

The worldwide sizes of container ships are rapidly increasing. The container ship size in 2005, which was about 9,200 TEU has increased to 24,000 TEU in recent times. In addition to the increase in the sizes of the container ships, the arrivals/departures of large container vessels to/from Korea have also increased. Hence, the necessity for reviewing safe passage of such vessels is emphasized. In the present study, a 24,000 TEU container vessel was used as a model ship to calculate the under-keel clearance (UKC) at Gadeok Channel through which vessels must pass to arrive at Busan New Port, in accordance with the Korean Port and Fishing Port Design Standards and Commentary. In addition, the maximum allowable speed that meets UKC standards was calculated using various squat formulas, whose results were then compared with the current speed limit standards. The analysis results show that Busan New Port requires 10% marginal water depth, and the squat that meets this requirement is 0.95 m. Gadeok Channel requires 15% marginal water depth, and the squat that meets this requirement is 1.78 m; in this case, the maximum allowable speed is calculated as 15 kts. Busan New Port has set the speed limit as 12 kts, which is higher than the calculated 11 kts. Thus, speed limit reconsideration is required in terms of safety. However, the set speed limit for Gadeok Channel is 12 kts, which is lower than the calculated 15 kts. Thus, additional considerations may be provided to increase the speed limits for smooth navigational passage of vessels. The present study, however, is constrained by the fact that it reflects only a limited number of elements in the UKC and allowable speed calculations; therefore, more accurate UKC and safe speed values can be suggested based on extended studies to this research.
Large scaled railway freight transportation facilities in harbors are located in Busan port and Gwangyang port. The port rail depot plays an important role as the departure and destination function of railway logistics. However, presently, it is not relatively vitalized because it is not reflect the railway freight transportation's characteristics such as scale of railway tracks or yards area. In addition, even if port rail depot is vitalized, processing capacity is already saturated. Therefore, it is difficult to increase rail transport quantity. To activate railway container transportation business, it is very necessary to recalculate the facility size of port rail depots. Focused on the Busan new port rail depot, this paper analyzes the problems of port rail depot facility that has currently opened and finds some alternatives to resolve them.
An environment of world marine port today is rapidly changing. Importance of a hub port is being maximized along with appearance of a large container ship, and Busan port is also growing with the goal as a hub port of Northeast Asia. Busan port currently has competitive power as the 5th top port in the world, but increase rate of transportation quantity, is low compared to Shanghai port in China and other ports in Northeast Asia. For a port to obtain competitiveness, investment on infrastructures of a port is necessary and also it has close relation with an intraregional port logistics industry. However, a port logistics industry in Busan area has a hard time avoiding a small size due to the government support on major companies. Therefore, this study will analyze difficulties of small port logistics companies and the related companies as to vitalize port logistics industry in Busan area in hopes to help vitalizing regional economy.

Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes simulations have been performed to investigate an effect of numerical region with high resolution for Kelvin wave around KRISO container ship on its resistance. In the present study, 13 millions cells were used to describe wave profile along the ship hull and Kelvin wave patterns. In order to control a size of numerical region with high resolution for waves around the hull, we employed relaxation zones from a side boundary of numerical domain in which Kelvin wave was suppressed. When the far-field Kelvin wave was not precisely resolved due to the relaxation zone, the instantaneous history of ship resistance was affected although the time average of ship resistance showed -1.15~2.1 % errors. Especially, the damping characteristics of ship resistance in time history was significant when using a large relaxation zone in the side boundary.
This study was designed to measure viscosity, osmolality and in vitro flow rates via nasogastric tubes for 6 types of commercially available and 9 hospital-blenderized enteral solutions and to examine the effect of viscosity and osmolaility of enteral formula on the flow rates in gravity drip administration. Each solution was infused through 18, 16, 14, 12 French sizes of silicone rubber tube. Flow rates were measured six times at $25^{\circ}C$ using formula bags and drip sets hung at a uniform height on a intravenous drip stand with tube uniformly positioned in collecting container. Viscosity ranged widely from 16.0 to 195.5 cps with mean, 64.61$\pm$64.42 for hospital-blenderized formula while mean viscosity of commercial formula was 7.60$\pm$4.84 cps. Mean osmolality of commercial formula and hospital-blenderized formula were 370$\pm$100.80, 540.33$\pm$89.37 mOsm/kg respectively. There was negative relationship between viscosity of formula and flow rates through tubes but no significant relationship between flow rates and osmolalty. Some of hospital-blenderized formula was too viscous to be infused througth tube with gravity drip administration and the recipe of formula requires to be modiifed. On the other hand, commercial formula with the low viscosity flows too rapidly with large bore size tubes. Smaller size of tube must be selected for hyperosmolar solution to decrease possible side effects associated with tube feeding. Two kinds of regression equations for flow rates obtained according to viscosity and tube sizes were also presented for the purpose of practical uses. In conclusion, this study emphasizes that viscosity of fomula, osmolality, patient's tolerance and comfort, caloric density should be considered in the selection of tubes for gravify drip administration.

With the increase of ship size and speed, the loading on the propeller is increasing, which in turn increases the rotational speed in the propeller slipstream. The rudder placed in the propeller slip stream is therefore subject to severe cavitation with the increased angle of attack due to the increased rotational induction speed of the propeller. In the present paper the surface panel method, which has been proved useful in predicting the sheet cavitation on the propeller blade, is applied to solve the cavity boundary value problem on the rudder. The problem is then solved numerically by discretizing the rudder and cavity surface elements of the quadrilateral panels with constant strengths of sources and dipoles. The strengths of the singularities are determined satisfying the boundary conditions on the rudder and cavity surfaces. The extent of the cavity, which is unknown a priori, is determined by iterative procedure. Series of numerical experiments are performed increasing the degree of complexity of the rudder geometry and oncoming flows from the simple hydrofoil case to the real rudder in the circumferentially averaged propeller slipstream. Numerical results are presented with experimental results.

Container vessels continue to grow in size, led by global shipowner. Large ships can be loaded more cargo at a time, reducing the cost of transportation per teu. this eventually leads to economies of sale, in which the production cost per unit decreases with increasing output. in accordance with the 70th Convention of the Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization, as of January 1, 2020, MARPOL Annex VI Regulation 14.1.3 will be effective. All vessels must be meet these criteria to reduce Sox emissions and reduce NOx emissions by reducing the content of manned sulfur oxides from 3.5% to less than 0.5%, otherwise IACS Member States Entry to the port is denied. in order to do that need to LNG storage tank. in this study characteristic of the material after line heating (600℃,700℃,800℃,900℃) of 9% Ni steel used in the manufacture of LNG fuel tank of ship were verified using by mechanical test. In the heating method by line heating. The initial properties of steel are changed by variables such as temperature, time, speed. The experimental data of line heating presented in this paper confirmed that the initial change of 9% Ni steel could be minimized.
Marine casualities in the high sea are mainly classified into the breakage of hull and capsize , of which the latter occurs frequently to a small craft and container vessels by extreme rolling. The aim of this study is to develop shiphandling techniques for the prevention of ship's large rolling by way of evaluating dangerous degree of rolling in heavy weather. In this study, rolling motion is analized by using statistical method as follow : (1) 8 sample ships is presented for calculation. (2) Analized sea state are Beaufort scale 7 and 10 (wind velocity 30kts and 50kts respectively) and significant wave height is put as 5.2m and 11.2m. (3) The formula recommended by International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC) is used to calculated the wave spectrum. The results of this study are as follow : The results of this study are as follow : (1) Most of the vessels with beam of 20 meters or less was found to be capized in the waves abeam under the sea condition of Bearfort scale7(30kts). (2) For the vessels range 20m to 30m was found safe under the sea conditions of Bearfort scale 7(30kts) and imminent danger under the sea condition of Beaufort scale 11(50kts). (3) It is proved that any vessel could be capsized by heavy rolling regardless of vessel's size whenever the motion is synchronized with waves abeam. This study concludes that the navigator, especially at night , must anticipate the exact wave direction, referring to the wether report and coastaline, not to lay the vessel in the serial wave abeam.
