외압을 받는 두꺼운 원통형 내압용기의 붕괴하중 해석 (The Analysis of Collapse Load of Thick Pressure Cylinder under External Hydrostatic Pressure)

  • Number of studies on the buckling of thin cylindrical pressure vessels, such as submarine pressure hull and pipe with a large ratio of diameter/thickness, have been carried out in the naval and ocean engineering. However, research about thick cylinder pressure vessel has not been active except for the specific application in nuclear area. There are not many papers for the estimation of buckling and ultimate load capacity of thick cylinders for the deep sea usage. Thus, it is important to understand the theoretical bases of the buckling and collapse process and the derivation process of such loads for the proper design and structural analysis. The objective of this study is to survey the collapse behavior, to analyse and clarify the derivation procedure and to estimate the ultimate collapse load for thick cylinder by analyzing relevant books and papers. It is found that the yielding begins at the internal surface of the thick cylinder and plasticity develops from the internal surface to the external surface to generate collapse. Also the initial imperfection of cylinder develops flattening and consequently accelerates buckling and finally ultimate collapse. By comparing the collapse loads of aluminum thick cylinder by applying equations herein, it is shown that the equations analyzed are appropriate to obtain collapse load for thick cylinder.

인공 위성 사진 내 선박 탐지 정확도 향상을 위한 Watershed 알고리즘 기반 RoI 축소 기법 (Watershed Algorithm-Based RoI Reduction Techniques for Improving Ship Detection Accuracy in Satellite Imagery)

  • 해상 안보, 국제 동향 파악 등 다양한 이유로 해상 사진에서 선박을 탐지하고자하는 연구는 지속되어 왔다. 인공지능의 발달로 인해 사진 및 영상 내 객체 탐지를 위한 R-CNN 모델이 등장하였고 객체탐지의 성능이 비약적으로 상승하였다. R-CNN 모델을 이용한 해상 사진에서의 선박 탐지는 인공위성 사진에도 적용되기 시작하였다. 하지만 인공위성 사진은 넓은 지역을 투사하기 때문에 선박 외에도 차량, 지형, 건물 등 다양한 객체들이 선박으로 인식되는 경우가 있다. 본 논문에서는 R-CNN계열 모델을 이용한 인공위성 사진에서의 선박 탐지의 성능을 개선하기 위한 새로운 방법론을 제안한다. 표지자 기반 watershed 알고리즘을 통해 육지와 바다를 분리하고 morphology 연산을 수행하여 RoI를 한 차례 더 특정한 뒤 특정된 RoI에 R-CNN 계열 모델을 사용하여 선박을 탐지하여 오탐을 줄인다. 해당 방법을 이용하여 Faster R-CNN을 사용하였을 경우, Faster R-CNN만을 사용했을 때에 비해 오탐률을 80% 줄일 수 있었다.

  • 토도는 부산신항 앞바다에 위치한 무인도였다. 이 섬은 해발 32 m 높이의 작은 섬으로서 물속에 잠긴 부분을 포함한 총면적은 24,400 이었다. 그런데 불행하게도 이 섬은 부산신항의 북 컨테이너 부두와 남 컨테이너 부두로 들어가는 좁은 입구에 위치해 부두를 드나드는 수많은 선박들이 섬을 피해 운항하느라 급선회하면서 다른 선박이나 크레인과 자주 충돌하는 사고의 원인이 되어 왔다. 이와 같은 위험을 없애고, 해로를 더 넓고 깊게 만들기 위하여 해양수산부 당국은 토도를 제거하기로 결정하였다. 토도가 제거되면 부산신항 입구를 운항하는 대형 선박들의 안전이 확보될 것이고, 이는 부산신항의 경쟁력을 한층 높일 것으로 기대되었다. 이 논문에서는 토도 제거의 전체 과정을 상세하게 소개한다. 토도 제거작업은 국내 최초로 벌크 에멀젼 폭약과 비전기뇌관을 적용하여 성공적으로 수중발파를 완수한 최초의 사례이기도 하다.

선박 통항로와 해상풍력단지 간 최적의 이격거리 산정 모델 개발 (Development of a Calculation Model for an Optimal Safe Distance between Ship Routes and Offshore Wind Sites)

  • 전 세계적으로 해상을 마주하고 있는 여러 국가들은 기존의 전력 생산방식의 단점을 극복하고 해상풍력 개발을 통한 친환경에너지자원을 활용하고 있다. 해상은 넓은 해역에 대규모 풍력단지를 개발할 수 있는 장점이 있으나 해양구조물의 설치로 인해 선박의 안전운항이 위협받고 있다. 이에 따라, 선박 통항로와 해상풍력단지 간 상호 미치는 영향에 대해 분석하여 선박이 안전하게 운항할 수 있도록 PIANC에서는 표준 Guideline을 제시하였다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 표준 Guideline은 모든상황에서 동일한 이격거리를 산정하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 선회성능, 조우상태, 환경외력, 해상밀집도, 해상풍력발전기, 항로형태 등을 요소로 반영한 선박 통항로와 해상풍력단지 간 최적의 이격거리 산정 모델을 개발하였다. 개발된 모델 검증을 위한 시뮬레이션 결과, 운항 준비상태에 따른 입지 특성별 선회성능 크기는 산정 모델에서 제시한 크기와 유사하였다.

수심에 따른 실습선 백경호의 조종성능 추정 (Estimation of maneuvering characteristic of training ship Baek-Kyung according to water depth)

  • Recently, universities of fisheries and institutions related to fisheries are actively carrying out a project to build new fisheries training ships. These new fisheries training ships are significantly larger in size and longer in length than the previous ships. In addition, these new ships basically have space that can accommodate more than 100 crew and passenger. On the other hand, they are excluded from IMO maneuverability evaluation since the size of these ships are still less than 100 m in length (LBP). These results have had an impact on the study of maneuverability of fishing vessels including the fisheries training ships. Against these backgrounds, the authors conducted a study to estimate the maneuvering characteristics of fisheries training ship Baek-Kyung according to depth in order to prepare a maneuvering characteristic index that enables the large fisheries training ships to navigate more safely using a modified empirical formula. It was confirmed that the maneuvering characteristics of Baek-Kyung changed significantly as the values of the hydrodynamic force coefficients changed as the water depth gradually decreased from around 1.5 (approx. 8 m in depth) of the ratio of the water depth to the ship draft. The results of this study will not only help navigators understand the maneuvering characteristics of Baek-Kyung, but also serve as an indicator when navigating in shallow water. In addition, the accumulation of these results will serve as a basis for future study on maneuverability of fishing vessel types.

압력용기용 SA372강의 수소취성 저항성에 미치는 시편 형태의 영향 (Influence of Specimen Geometry and Notch on Hydrogen Embrittlement Resistance of SA372 Steel for Pressure Vessel)

  • The influence of specimen geometry and notch on the hydrogen embrittlement of an SA372 steel for pressure vessels was investigated in this study. A slow strain-rate tensile (SSRT) test after the electrochemical hydrogen charging method was conducted on four types of tensile specimens with different directions, shapes (plate, round), and notches. The plate-type specimen showed a significant decrease in hydrogen embrittlement resistance owing to its large surface-to-volume ratio, compared to the round-type specimen. It is well established that most of the hydrogen distributes over the specimen surface when it is electrochemically charged. For the round-type specimens, the notched specimen showed increased hydrogen susceptibility compared with the unnotched one. A notch causes stress concentration and thus generates lots of dislocations in the locally deformed regions during the SSRT test. The solute hydrogen weakens the interactions between these dislocations by promoting the shielding effect of stress fields, which is called hydrogen-enhanced localized plasticity mechanisms. These results provide crucial insights into the relationship between specimen geometry and hydrogen embrittlement resistance.

Fracture of the Second Rib: An Indirect Sign of Serious Trauma Like Fracture of the First Rib?

  • Background: The first 3 ribs are anatomically well-protected, shielded by the large thoracic muscles, the shoulder girdle, and the arm. A significant force is required to fracture these ribs; thus, such fractures suggest a high-energy trauma and are associated with injuries to vital organs of the thorax, such as the aorta, the heart, the lungs and the great vessels. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted over a 10-year period at a single hospital. The study assessed patients with fractures of the second rib, including their concurrent injuries and the overall severity of their trauma. Results: Among the 76 patients included in the study, the average age was 47.35 years, 81.5% were men, and 19.5% were women. Thirteen patients (17.1%) survived their injuries. The most common causes of injury were road traffic accidents (63%) and pedestrian injuries (22%). The patients who did not survive sustained injuries to an average of 5 additional organs, while survivors had injuries to an average of 2.07 additional organs. Left rib fractures were the most frequently observed (46%). The most serious concurrent injuries reported were to the aorta (5.26%), heart (10.52%), lung (52.36%), head (57.89%), liver (30.2%), spleen (26.31%), and kidney (17.1%). Conclusion: As indicators of serious injury to vital endothoracic organs, isolated fractures of the second rib should be considered equal to first rib fractures in clinical importance.

Endovascular treatment of Takayasu arteritis in a middle-aged woman with syncope and limb claudication: a case report

  • Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a disease that causes inflammation and stenosis of medium to large blood vessels. We report a case of a 50-year-old female patient with newly developed hypertension, syncope, and claudication of the extremities. Total occlusion of the left subclavian artery at the origin was found and significant stenosis of the right common iliac artery was revealed by hemodynamic analysis. She was successfully treated with percutaneous angioplasty for multiple peripheral arterial diseases and was finally diagnosed with TA. In consultation with a rheumatologist, medical treatment for TA was initiated, the patient's hypertension disappeared, and her claudication symptoms improved.

  • 진성적혈구증가증은 드문 골수 증식성 질환이며 제어되지 않은 적혈구 생산으로 인해 절대 적혈구 질량이 증가한다. 진성적혈구증가증은 큰 혈관의 협착 또는 폐색과 함께 허혈성 뇌졸중의 위험이 높다. 진성적혈구증가증 환자에서 뇌경색에 대한 많은 증례 보고가 있다. 그러나 합병증으로 뇌졸중이 발생한 진성적혈구증가증 환자의 좁아진 혈관에서 혈관벽 자기공명영상 소견은 보고되지 않았다. 저자들은 뇌졸중으로 인해 입원한 후 PV로 진단된 30세 남성의 경동맥 VW-MRI 소견에 관해 보고하고자 하며, 이는 우리가 아는 한 영어로 된 첫 번째 보고이다.

Comparative histological study on the effect of tramadol abuse on the testis of juvenile and adult male albino mice

  • As a synthetic analog of codeine, tramadol is often prescribed to treat mild to moderate pains. This study was designed to estimate and compare the histological effect of tramadol on testes of both juvenile and adult male albino mice. A total number of 40 healthy male albino mice were classified into two main groups as follows: group I (juvenile group, includes 20 mice aged three weeks) subdivided equally into group Ia (control group received isotonic saline) and group Ib (tramadol-treated group received 40 mg/kg/d tramadol orally for 30 days); group II (adult group, includes 20 mice aged two months) subdivided equally into group IIa (control group received isotonic saline) and group IIb (tramadol-treated group). Juvenile and adult tramadol-treated groups showed numerous testicular changes, including blood vessels congestion, widening of intercellular spaces, vacuolization in interstitial tissues, luminal germ cells exfoliation, and increased expression of caspase-3 that indicated cellular apoptosis. In the ultrastructural examination, spermatogenic cells degenerated with the frequent appearance of apoptotic cells. Sertoli cells showed vacuolations, large lipid droplets, and disrupted intercellular cell junctions. These observed testicular changes were markedly observed in the juvenile group. Testicular abnormalities and apoptotic changes can be caused by tramadol administration. These abnormalities are more common in juvenile mice.
