  • The potential for tropical cyclogenesis in a given oceanic and atmospheric environments can be represented by genesis potential index (GPI). Using the 18 Coupled Model Inter Comparison Project phase 5 (CMIP5) models, the annual cycle of GPI and interannual variability of GPI are analyzed in this study. In comparison, the annual cycle of GPI calculated from reanalysis data is revisited. In particular, GPI differences between CMIP5 models and reanalysis data are compared, and the possible reasons for the GPI differences are discussed. ENSO (El Nino and Southern Oscillation) has a tropical phenomenon, which affects tropical cyclone genesis and its passages. Some dynamical interpretations of tropical cyclogenesis are suggested by using the fact that GPI is a function of four large-scale parameters. The GPI anomalies in El Nino or La Nina years are discussed and the most contributable factors are identified in this study. In addition, possible dynamics of tropical cyclogenesis in the Northern Hemisphere Pacific region are discussed using the large-scale factors.

  • Cloud computing systems require a huge number of storage servers due to the growing implications of power bills, carbon emissions, and logistics of data centers. These considerations have motivated researchers to improve the energy efficiency of storage servers. Most servers use a lot of power irrespective of the amount of computing that they are doing, and one important goal is to redesign servers to be power-proportional. However, Research on large-scale storage systems is hampered by their cost. It is therefore desirable to develop a scalable test-bed for evaluating the power consumption of large-scale storage systems. We are building on open-source projects to construct a test-bed which will contribute to the assessment of power consumption in tiered storage systems. Integrating the cloud application platform can easily extend the proposed testbed laying a foundation for the design and evaluation of low-power storage servers.

  • Recently, as location-determination of indoor users is available with the development of variety of localization techniques for indoor location-based service, diverse indoor location based services are proposed. Accordingly, it is necessary to develop individualized POI recommendation service for recommending most interested points of large-scale commercial spaces such as shopping malls and departments. For POI recommendation, it is necessary to study the method for exploring location which users are interested in location with considering user's mobility in large-scale commercial spaces. In this paper, we proposed POI recommendation system with the definition of users' as 'Stay point' in order to consider users' various interest locations. By using the proposed algorithm, we analysis users' Stay points, then mining the users' visiting pattern to finished the proposed. POI Recommendation System. The proposed system decreased data more dramatically than that of using user's entire mobility data and usage of memory.

  • After large-scale flooding damage occurred along the Imjin river in 1996, 1998, and 1999, the Hantan river flood control dam was planned, and it has since been under construction. Unlike existing dams in Korea, the Hantan river flood control dam will remain fully open except during high floods, when the dam will store flood water temporarily to reduce flood peaks and flood water volume downstream. During past flooding seasons, floating debris has caused difficulties in the management of large-scale dams. Most of the existing multipurpose dams in Korea have installed nets to collect floating debris based on many years of experience with and data about inflow and distribution of floating debris in the dams. For the Hantan river flood control dam, however, collection of data about inflow and distribution of floating debris is not possible as the dam is located near the border area between North and South Korea. In order to devise a preliminary plan to collect floating debris in the Hantan river flood control dam, an EFDC hydrodynamic model was used to analyze the behavior of floating debris during high floods. The Lagrangian particle tracking method was utilized to simulate the behavior of floating debris in the dam. Based on the analysis of paths and final destinations of the particles, seven collection points were selected where it seemed to be effective to collect floating debris, as debris is likely to accumulate there in high density.

  • Wireless sensor networks are installed in various environments and collect sensing data through wireless links. The quality of a wireless link may be unstable due to environment causes and hardware performance in wireless sensor networks. Since the change of the link quality may cause data loss, sensor nodes need to adaptively estimate the change of the link quality. Also, the routing protocol should deal with this situation. In this paper, the adaptive link quality estimation and routing scheme in the large-scale wireless sensor networks are proposed. When the quality of a link is unstable, sensor nodes agilely estimate the quality of links, and the new route is selected. When quality of a link is stable, the link quality is occasionally estimated so that the energy consumption is reduced. Moreover, sensor nodes exchange less beacons in order to reduce an overhead in dense networks. In the case of sparse network, the sensor nodes exchange more beacons for finding a better route. We prove that the proposed scheme can improve the energy efficiency and reliability.

  • This paper describes the procedure and calculation results of basic design and transient variation of performance of 1 MWe large scale solar thermal power plant (STPP) by using the commercial software of THERMOFLEX and TRNSYS, respectively. In order to simulate the transient variation of STPP, the results of basic design are necessary. The design standard of the STPP is 1 MWe generation with solar only at high DNI condition and then 0.6 MWe output power for 1 hour using stored energy when the DNI becomes lower unable to operate normally. The results of basic design show the important design data of flow rates, water/steam conditions at each equipments and the estimated efficiency of STPP. In addition, dynamic simulation results of STPP are predicted and plotted for one year and three different days weather data of Daejeon.

  • With the revolution of IT technology, cyber threats and crimes are also increasing. In the recent years, many large-scale APT attack executed domestically and internationally. Specially, many of the APT incidents were not recognized by internal organizations, were noticed by external entities. With fourth industrial revolution(4IR), advancement of IT technology produce large scale of sensitive data more than ever before; thus, organizations invest a mount of budget for various methods such as encrypting data, access control and even SIEM for analyzing any little sign of risks. However, enhanced intelligent APT it's getting hard to aware or detect. These APT threats are too much burden for SMB, Enterprise and Government Agencies to respond effectively and efficiently. This paper will research what's the limitation and weakness of current defense countermeasure base on Cyber Kill Chain process and will suggest effective and efficient APT defense operation model with considering of organization structure and human resources for operation.

  • In this paper, we propose a new RDF index scheme considering the characteristics of large scale RDF data to improve the query processing performance. The proposed index scheme creates a S-O index for subjects and objects since the subjects and objects of RDF triples are used redundantly. In order to reduce the total size of the index, it constructs a P index for the relatively small number of predicates in RDF triples separately. If a query contains the predicate, we first searches the P index since its size is relatively smaller compared to the S-O index. Otherwise, we first searches the S-O index. It is shown through performance evaluation that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing scheme in terms of the query processing time.

Interaction layer formed on space from screen which is able to feel 3D using suggested IR LED BAR. It gets the image in real time what is composed in interaction section using infrared camera with band pass filter. The image finds touch interaction coordinate through image processing module and saves as packet. It send packet to server through network data communication. It analyze packet by metaphor analysis module and save as metaphor event and send it to contents. On contents, it practices to metaphor event result in real time so it makes use touch interaction in stereopsis. According to this process, it does not need touch the screen at firsthand but it is possible system and touch interaction so touch interaction is possible while use 3D.

  • Introduction: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients are particularly vulnerable to the Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19). Currently, no anti-NSCLC/COVID-19 treatment options are available. As ginsenoside Rg3 is beneficial to NSCLC patients and has been identified as an entry inhibitor of the virus, this study aims to explore underlying pharmacological mechanisms of ginsenoside Rg3 for the treatment of NSCLC patients with COVID-19. Methods: Based on a large-scale data mining and systemic biological analysis, this study investigated target genes, biological processes, pharmacological mechanisms, and underlying immune implications of ginsenoside Rg3 for NSCLC patients with COVID-19. Results: An important gene set containing 26 target genes was built. Target genes with significant prognostic value were identified, including baculoviral IAP repeat containing 5 (BIRC5), carbonic anhydrase 9 (CA9), endothelin receptor type B (EDNRB), glucagon receptor (GCGR), interleukin 2 (IL2), peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PADI4), and solute carrier organic anion transporter family member 1B1 (SLCO1B1). The expression of target genes was significantly correlated with the infiltration level of macrophages, eosinophils, natural killer cells, and T lymphocytes. Ginsenoside Rg3 may benefit NSCLC patients with COVID-19 by regulating signaling pathways primarily involved in anti-inflammation, immunomodulation, cell cycle, cell fate, carcinogenesis, and hemodynamics. Conclusions: This study provided a comprehensive strategy for drug discovery in NSCLC and COVID-19 based on systemic biology approaches. Ginsenoside Rg3 may be a prospective drug for NSCLC patients with COVID-19. Future studies are needed to determine the value of ginsenoside Rg3 for NSCLC patients with COVID-19.
