  • This research aims to compare the features and environments for media acceptance of tablet against laptop computer in the u-Learning environment. While it is need to accept suitable media for u-Learning learner, most of existing research has focused on finding factors which can affect perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use on extended technology acceptance model and how to fulfill those factors. Thus this research drew four categories need to use media in the u-Learning environment, then adopts Kano's model and IPA methodology. The results by Kano's model identify exciting and basic attributes which do not match overall satisfaction of learners. Moreover the research analyses by IPA methodology illustrate whether the factors considered important by learners are fulfilled. The research also emphasis the significance of enhancing relative importance as well as satisfaction of the properties for media acceptance in the u-Learning environment.

  • Current surveying and spatial information technology incorporates information and communication technology and is user friendly. However, it is not convenient to use in the field because a connection to a computer, such as a laptop, tablet PC, or desktop PC, is needed to obtain the survey results and the coordinates of the surveyed points. To solve this problem, we developed an app that can display surveyed data on a map and the current survey results through a connection between a total station and smartphone using a Bluetooth wireless communication device. The app allows users to perform field work simultaneously with office work in the field, because it consists of Bluetooth, closed traverse survey, current status survey, and coordinate conversion modules. The proposed app should increase user convenience and the operational capability of the total station in the field.

  • The on-site performance of a vision-based displacement measurement system (VDMS) was evaluated through a field test on a bridge. The VDMS used in this study is composed of a camera, a marker, a frame grabber, and a laptop. The system measures the displacement by attaching a marker at the location to be measured on the structure, by capturing images of that marker with a fixed rate, and by processing a series of images using a planar homography technique. The developed system was first validated from a laboratory test using a small-scale building structure. The VDMS was then employed in a field test on a railroad bridge with a KTX train running under various conditions. The on-site performance was evaluated by comparing the obtained displacement using the VDMS with the displacement measured from a laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV), which is an expensive and accurate displacement measurement device.

  • A magnetic survey on the lake war carried out to explore the possible UXO (unexploded ordnance) under the water. A magnetic gradiometer with 2 magnetometer sensors was used, which measures total magnetic intensity. For the positioning of the measurement points on the water, RTK (real time kinematic) survey system was used. The theoretical responses were calculated assumming the dimension and the material of the UXO so that the detectability could be investigated. Since the areal size of the survey vessel was rather small, the influence from the magnetic material of the vessel and the other equipments such as a laptop computer was not negligible, and the influence did not remain constant during the survey due to the change of survey direction. These effects were reduced remarkably using moving average technique. The result reveals the lineament of a pipe line laid on the bottom of the lake, which can be regarded as an indirect proof of detectability of the method.

  • Inflatable Mouse is a volume-adjustable user interface. It can be inflated up to the volume of a familiar mouse, but be deflated and stored flat in a PC card slot of a laptop computer when not in use. Inflatable Mouse functions just like a typical mouse; moreover, it provides new interaction techniques by sensing the air pressure in the balloon of the mouse. It also addresses some issues associated with pressure-sensing interactions such as the lack of bi-directional control and the lack of effective feedback. Moreover, it can be used as both a control tool and a display tool. In this paper, the design of an Inflatable Mouse prototype is described and potential application scenarios such as zooming in/out and fast scrolling using pressure control are explained. We also discuss the potential use of Inflatable Mouse as an emotional communication tool.

  • In this paper, we proposed the internal antenna on PCB(Planar Circuit Board) for achieving WWAN(Wireless Wide Area Network) operation in the laptop computer. The proposed antenna has a metal structure instead of printed pattern on PCB to improve the antenna characteristics for GSM850/900 bands. Compared to PCB embedded antenna without metal structure, the proposed antenna occupies similar area of $74{\times}11{\times}0.5\;mm^3$ with before and the bandwidth of the proposed one for GSM850/900 bands is increased 13 MHz than before. Further we confirmed that the proposed antenna has higher radiation gain of -4.45~-2.29 dBi for GSM850/900 bands than PCB embedded antenna without metal structure.

  • Generally, the compromising electromagnetic emanations are generated from LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) monitor which is typical output component of computer. Because display information transmitted to LCD monitor is included in these emanations, there are risks about information leakage of monitor by eavesdropping of leaked signal. So, analysis about possibility of information leakage is necessary because electromagnetic security through the electromagnetic emanations is being at issue. In this paper, the possibility of display information leakage are demonstrated by analyzing the electromagnetic emanations from desktop and laptop monitors. The characteristics of leaked signal from LCD monitor is verified by analyzing display mechanism and the electromagnetic emanations are measured in the long distance by eavesdropping experiment. Also, threat of information leakage is confirmed by recovering display information with several signal processing technique and comprising with target display.

  • This study tends to apprehend how much public library contributes to a role of upbuilder of digital integrated local society through a survey. For this, I performed the survey on 935 organization of public library in the whole country registered in national library statistical system. As a result, firstly, it's apprehended that equipment infra, Internet infra, etc like computer, laptop, scanner, tablet PC, etc are in relatively high level. Secondly, service or resource like electronic book, digital and virtual reference service, library service mobile App, etc that users can use are in relatively high level but software supporting cooperation and group task, fusibility of participating space, etc are shown very low level. Thirdly, the rate of literacy training relating to technology were only 22.4%, education subject focused on resource searching subject and somewhat future-oriented technical education like directions of video conference technique, cloud computing application education, etc wasn't conducted. Finally, we should consider expansion of providing technology and equipment and provision of future-oriented service and education according to a flow of the time that needs to seek change in various roles of library as enjoying culture space or creative space.

  • Now a days, as increased the use of mobile units like a laptop computer and PDA, the demand for high speed internet service is increasing. On the other hand, PKMv2 which is provided from IEEE 802.16e cannot support fully on the security of high speed internet service. This paper proposes light-weight mutual authentication protocol which solved security problem of PKMv2 related to integrity of mobile node for transmission of safe high speed data of mobile node operating in mobile WiMAX environment. Proposed mutual authentication protocol increases the efficiency as the user in network can move in network safely without additional procedure of authentication between subscriber and base station after user's initial authentication. Also, the proposed mutual authentication protocol is safe from the security attack (the man-in-the-middle attack and reply attack) between subscriber and base station by generating a key adopt to PRF() function using random number and secret value in order to secure certification.

  • Recently, research activities to develop services for providing safety information to the drivers in fast moving vehicles based on various wireless network technologies such as DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication), IEEE 802.11p WAVE (Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment) are widely being carried out. This paper presents a proof-of-concept model based on a robot-car for Dilemma Zone Decision Assistant Service using the wireless LAN technology. The proposed model system consists of a robot-car based on an embedded Linux OS equipped with a WiFi interface and an on-board unit emulator, an Android-based remote controller to model a human driver interface, a laptop computer to run a model traffic signal controller and signal lights, and a WiFi access point to model a road-side unit.
