Piezoelectric Properties of Pb-free Bi(Na,K)TiO3-SrTiO3 Ceramics with the Amount of La2O3 Addition (La2O3첨가에 따른 무연 Bi(Na,K)TiO3-SrTiO3 세라믹스의 압전 특성)

  • In this study, lead-free pirzoelectric ceramics were investigated for pressure sensor applications as a function of the amount of ${La}_2{O}_3$ addition at $Bi(Na, K)Ti{O}_3-SrTi{O}_3$system. With increasing the amount of addition, the density and dielectric constant increased up to 0.9 wt% ${La}_2{O}_3$ addition and decreased above 0.9 wt% ${La}_2{O}_3$addition. Electromechanical coupling factor( $K_{P}$) showed the maximum value at 0.2 wt% ${La}_2{O}_3$addition and decreased above 0.2 wt% ${La}_2{O}_3$ addition. Electromechanical coupling $factor{(K)}_P$, density, dielectric constant$(\varepsilon_\Gamma)$, piezoelectric constant$(d_33)$ and curie temperature$(T_C)$ showed optimum value of 0.40, 5.75 g/㎤, 768, 215 pC/N and 320 $^{\circ}C$ at 0.2 wt%${La}_2{O}_3$addition, respectively.

  • The sintering phenomena and piezoelectric properties of PZT ceramics of composition $Pb(Zr_{0.54} Ti_{0.46})O_3$ were investigated when a small quantity of $La_2O_3$ , $LaMnO_3$, $LaCrO_3$ were added. The unwanted chemical composition change in PZT during sinterin porces du to PbO evaporation poses a severe problem in PZt manufacturinig. It is observed tat an addition of small amount of $LaMnO_3$ to PZT markedly decreases the evaporation of PbO during sintering . The green compact of (1-x) PZT.xLaMnO3(x=0.02~0.10) could be sintered of under O2 atmosphere alone with no significant loss of PbO. The planar coupling factor kp of the sintered $0.98Pb(Zr_{0.54} Ti_{0.46})O_{3.0.02}LaMnO}3$ is similar to that of commercial PZT 6A. Microstructure investigation shows that part of sintering process of $Pb(Zr, Ti)O_3$.$LaMnO_3$ system progresses via liquid phase sintering. It is believed that the evaporation of PbO in PZT sintering is restricted by the addition of $LaMnO_3$ due to the above phenomena. Furthermore the solid solution of $LaMnO_3$ in PZT causes diffuses phase transition.

The Effects of La Doping on Characteristics of PLZT Thin Films for DRAM Capacitor Applications (La 첨가가 DRAM 캐퍼시터용 PLZT 박막의 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper, the effects of La addition of PLZT thin film prepared by sol-gel method on the capacitor characteristics are investigated for gigabit generation DRAM applications. The addition of La on the PLZT capacitor results in a trade-off between charge storage density(Qc') and leakage current density(Jl). As La content increases, Qc' and permeability(εr) at 0V are reduced while Jl is significantly decreased. It is demonstrated that 5% La doping of PZT can substantially reduce Jl and also improve resistance to fatigue while incurring only minimal degradation of Qc'. Very low leakage current density (5×10-7 A/㎠ even at 125℃) and high charge storage density (100fC/㎛2) under VDD/2=1V conditions are achieved using 5% La doped PZT thin films for gigabit DRAM capacitor dielectrics. In addition, the fatigue and TDDB measurements indicate good reliability of the PLZT capacitors.

  • In this study, leed-free piezoelectric ceramics were investigated for pressure sensor applications as a function of the amount of $La_2O_3$ addition at BNKT system. With increasing amount of $La_2O_3$ addition, density and dielectric constant were increased up to 0.9wt% addition and decreased after 0.9wt% addition, electromechanical coupling factor$(k_p)$ and mechanical quality factor$(Q_m)$ showed the maximum values at 0.2wt% addition and decreased after 0.2wt% addition. The $k_p$, density, dielectric constant and $Q_m$ were showed the optimum values of 0.40, $5.71g/cm^3$, 768 and 118 at $La_2O_3$ 0.2wt% addition, respectively.

Effects of La addition to Ni/$CeO_2$ Methane Partial Oxidation Catalysts (메탄 부분산화반응 Ni/$CeO_2$ 촉매에 LA 첨가의 영향)

  • The effects of La addition to Ni/$CeO_2$ methane partial oxidation catalysts were investigated. Catalysts were prepared by the impregnation and urea methods. In the preparation of catalysts, La content was changed from 1 wt% to 3wt%. Catalysts that contain 2wt% La showed the highest methane conversion of about 80% and CO selectivity of 84% and $H_2$ selectivity of 70%. This result may be stemmed from that, when La content is 2wt%, a fluorite oxide-type structure is well formed and carbon deposition is also decreased. Among the catalysts, 2.5wt% Ni/Ce(La)Ox showed the highest catalytic activity. From the experiment of changing reaction temperature with 2.5wt% Ni/Ce(La)Ox catalyst, it was found that the optimum reaction temperature is $750^{\circ}C$ and at this temperature methane conversion was about 90%, CO and $H_2$ selectivities were 94 and 80%, respectively.

Dielectric Properties in the Pb1-3x/2Lax[(Mg1/3Ta2/3)0.66Zr0.34]O3 Systems

  • The dielectric constant and loss of poling/non-poling was measured in the $Pb_{1-3x/2}La_x[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ samples. The addition of $La^{3+}$ to the $Pb_{1-3x/2}La_x[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ did not cause a large change in grain size. But the addition of $La^{3+}$ did show transition temperature, which shifted toward low temperature in the $Pb[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})Zr]O_3$ systems. In addition, the dielectric and pyroelectric properties (${\varepsilon}{\sim}20000$, $p{\sim}0.03C/m^2K$) of this system using $La^{3+}$ have been greatly improved. Pyroelectrics $Pb_{0.97}La_{0.02}(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ system was found to have a relatively high ferroelectric FOMs ($F_V{\sim}0.035m^2/C$, $F_D{\sim}0.52{\times}10^{-4}Pa^{-1/2}$) at room temperature. Spontaneous polarization showed a value of $0.27{\sim}0.35C/m^2$ in the composition added to $La^{3+}$. The piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}=350{\sim}490pC/N$) and electromechanical coupling factor ($k_P=0.25{\sim}0.35$) are obtained in $Pb_{1-3x/2}La_x[(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})_{0.66}Zr_{0.34}]O_3$ compositions with $La^{3+}$ dopant.

Oxidation Rates of TiAlLaN Thin Films Deposited by Ion Plating (이온플레이팅법으로 제조된 TiAlLaN계 박막의 산화속도)

  • TiAl(La)N thin films were oxidized in vacuum of about 7 Pa to reduce the oxidation of WC-Co as a substrate. The oxidation rate constants of the thin films were quantified by an assumption of parabolic oxidation. Increasing AI content significantly decreased the parabolic oxidation rate constant. A simultaneous addition of AI and La was more effective to reduce the oxidation rate. The parabolic oxidation rate constant of $Ti_{0.66}$ $Al_{0.32}$ $La_{ 0.02}$N thin film at 1273 K showed about ten times lower than that of TiN. The addition of a small amount of La with Al induced the preferential formation of dense $\alpha$ $-Al_2$$O_3$ film in oxide film, leading to the abrupt reduction of oxidation rate.

  • The effect of La and Si addition of the thermal stabilization of $\gamma-alumina$ powers have been studied. Reagent grade $La(NO_3)_3{\cdot}6H_2O$ and $Si(OC_2H_5)_4$ were used as starting materials. These additives were introduced by wet impregnation method. Both La and Si additives suppressed the sintering of alumina and were found to be good thermal stabilizers of $\gamma-alumina$. Especially, Si drastically suppressed the phase transition of alumina at high temperatures. The major mechanisms for the thermal stabilization of alumina were seemed to be new phase formation and retardation of surface diffusion by addition of La or Si into alumina matrix.

The effect of lanthanum on the solidification curve and microstructure of Al-Mg alloy during eutectic solidification

  • The influence of rare earth lanthanum (La) on solidification cooling range, microstructure of aluminum-magnesium (Al-Mg) alloy and mechanical properties were investigated. Five kinds of Al-Mg alloys with rare earth content of La (i.e., 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 wt.%) were prepared. Samples were either slowly cooled in furnace or water cooled. Results indicate that the addition of the rare earth (RE) La can significantly influence the solidification range, the resultant microstructure, and tensile strength. RE La can extend the alloy solidification range, increase the solidification time, and also greatly improve the flow performance. The addition of La takes a metamorphism effect on Al-Mg alloy, resulting in that the finer the grain is obtained, the rounder the morphology becomes. RE La can significantly increase the mechanical properties for its metamorphism and reinforcement. When the La content is about 1.5 wt.%, the tensile strength of Al-Mg alloy reaches its maximum value of 314 MPa.

Evaluation of Lysozyme to Control Vinification Process and Histamine Production in Rioja Wines

  • Lysozyme and the reduction of metabisulfite addition to red wine were evaluated during a winemaking process and after malolactic fermentation (MLF). Treatment, with lysozyme, of the must from Tempranillo grapes and at the end of alcoholic fermentation (AF) caused the 100% implantation of the inoculated bacterial strain and shortened the duration of MLF by 7 days. At the end of the MLF, wines treated with lysozyme showed lower volatile acidity, color intensity, and biogenic amine content. The differences in color intensity disappeared during wine stabilization. The lysozyme addition after MLF led to lower histamine concentrations in wines. These phenomena occurred irrespective of the lactic acid bacteria (LAB) proliferation control and of the Oenococcus oeni dominant strain identified at this period. The results of this study show the significance of preventive use of lysozyme in vinification of red wine to maintain low histamine levels and ensure a successful implantation of inoculated O. oeni starters.
