침구갑을경(鍼灸甲乙經)의 침구금기혈(鍼灸禁忌穴)에 대한 소고(小考) (Review on Needling or Moxibustion-prohibited Points in Chimgugapeulgyeong)

  • Objectives : To investigate the meaning and the importance of needling or moxibustion- prohibited acupoints in Chimgugapeulgyeong(鍼灸甲乙經). Methods : We found needling or moxibustion-prohibited acupoints in Chimgugapeulgyeong, then investigated the causes of the prohibitions from the various literatures and the anatomical structures near the acupoints. Results : In Chimgugapeulgyeong, the needling and moxibustion-prohibited points were ST9, ST17, ST32, CV5, and CV15. The needling-prohibited points were LU2, LI13, ST12, BL56, KI2, KI7, TE8, TE19, GB3, CV8, GV24, and jwagak(左角). The moxibustion-prohibited points were LU3, LU8, ST1, ST7, ST8, ST30, ST33, BL5, BL6, BL15, BL30, TE18, TE21, TE23, GB22, GB33, GB42, GV6, GV15, GV16, GV17 and GV25. The major cause of developing prohibited needling or moxibustion was due to the possibility to damage vessels or organs near them; other causes were side effects brought by applying wrong stimulating method or inducing women sterilized. Conclusions : The prohibition of needling or moxibustion on the points found in Chimgugapeulgyeong had acceptable causes. Therefore the techniques of needling or moxibustion on the acupoint should be performed with care.

A New Superconductor with the 1212 Structure $(Pb,Sn)Sr_2(Ca,Lu)Cu_2O_z$

  • New cuprates with the nominal composition $(Pb_{0.75}Sn_{0.25})Sr_2(Ca_{1-x}Lu_x)Cu_2O_z(x=0.4{\sim}1.0)$ have been synthesized. These materials exhibit superconducting properties for 0.4 $\leq$ x $\leq$ 0.7. It is also observed that the superconductivity of the as-prepared sample is enhanced by post-annealing at high temperature followed by quenching. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the c lattice parameter decreases as x increases whereas the a lattice parameter is nearly independent of the value of x for both the as-prepared and the post-treated samples. The thermoelectric power measurements indicate that the post-heat-treatments result in an increase in the hole carrier density which account for the observed increase of $T_c$. Bulk superconductivity with a $T_c$ value of 60 K is observed in this system.

김치에서 분리한 Pediococcus pentosaceus와 Leuconostoc mesenteroides의 원형질체 형성 및 재생 (Protoplast Formation and Regeneration of Pediococcus pentosaceus and Leuconostoc mesenteroides Isolated from Kimchi)

  • Two lactic strains, Leuconostoc mesenteroides Lu5 and Pediococcus pentosaceus P1 isolated from Kimchi, were used to determine the optimum conditions for protoplast formation and regeneration. The maximum protoplast formation rate was obtained with both strains at early exponential growth phase and decreased rapidly during growth phase. For P. pentosaceus P1, 30 $\mu$g/ml of lysozyme treatment was sufficient to obtain over 90% of protoplast formation and 300 $\mu$g/ml for L. mesenteroides Lu5, showing great difference in sensitivity of these strains to lysozyme. For both strains, best results were obtained at pH 7, using 0.5 M sucrose as osmotic stabilizer. For regeneration of protoplast, the highest regeneration rate was obtained after 15 minutes of lysozyme treatment and declined drastically with prolonged digestion.

A Combined Pharmacophore-Based Virtual Screening, Docking Study and Molecular Dynamics (MD) Simulation Approach to Identify Inhibitors with Novel Scaffolds for Myeloid cell leukemia (Mcl-1)

  • Chemical feature based quantitative pharmacophore models were generated using the HypoGen module implemented in DS2.5. The best hypothesis, Hypo1, which was characterized by the highest correlation coefficient (0.96), the highest cost difference (61.60) and the lowest RMSD (0.74), consisted of one hydrogen bond acceptor, one hydrogen bond donor, one hydrophobic and one ring aromatic. The reliability of Hypo1 was validated on the basis of cost analysis, test set, Fischer's randomization method and GH test method. The validated Hypo1 was used as a 3D search query to identify novel inhibitors. The screened molecules were further refined by employing ADMET, docking studies and visual inspection. Three compounds with novel scaffolds were selected as the most promising candidates for the designing of Mcl-1 antagonists. Finally, a 10 ns molecular dynamics simulation was carried out on the complex of receptor and the retrieved ligand to demonstrate that the binding mode was stable during the MD simulation.

  • 15살의 중성화한 암컷 퍼그가 서울대학교 동물병원에 내원하였다. 임상증상으로는 5일전부터 갑자기 머리와 목을 움직이지 못하는 것이었다. 몇몇 검사를 통해 이 환축은 급성으로 발생한 사경이라고 잠정 진단되어 2주 동안 침술치료를 실시하였다. 침자리는 BL10(천주), BL11(대저), LU7(열결), SI3(후계)를 사용하였다. 2주 후 다시 검사를 하였을 때 사경의 증상은 거의 사라졌으며, 자발적으로 목을 움직일 수가 있었다. 이것으로 보아 급성사경이 있는 동물엠서 전통침술의 적용은 효과적인 치료법이라고 사료된다.

Effect of Oxygen Vacancies on Photocatalytic Efficiency of TiO2 Nanotubes Aggregation

  • Aggregation of titania nanotubes (TNTs) fabricated by hydrothermal method were calcined in air and dry nitrogen; Changes in morphology and crystallinity of the nanotubes were studied by means of TEM, EDX, and XPS. EDX patterns and XPS spectra proved that there were a certain densities of oxygen vacancies in TNTs annealed in $N_2$. The photocatalysis experiments revealed TNTs/$N_2$ possesses significantly higher photocatalytic efficiency than TNTs annealed in dry air to degrade methylene blue. The correlation between oxygen vacancies and photocatalytic property may be attributed to: 1) oxygen vacancies might have affected results on water molecules adsorption and increase of the hydroxyl concentration; and 2) oxygen vacancies resulted in some changes in electronic structure of TNTs/$N_2$ aggregation and Fermi level extends into the conducting band.

Deep-learning-based gestational sac detection in ultrasound images using modified YOLOv7-E6E model

  • As the population and income levels rise, meat consumption steadily increases annually. However, the number of farms and farmers producing meat decrease during the same period, reducing meat sufficiency. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has begun to be applied to reduce labor and production costs of livestock farms and improve productivity. This technology can be used for rapid pregnancy diagnosis of sows; the location and size of the gestation sacs of sows are directly related to the productivity of the farm. In this study, a system proposes to determine the number of gestation sacs of sows from ultrasound images. The system used the YOLOv7-E6E model, changing the activation function from sigmoid-weighted linear unit (SiLU) to a multi-activation function (SiLU + Mish). Also, the upsampling method was modified from nearest to bicubic to improve performance. The model trained with the original model using the original data achieved mean average precision of 86.3%. When the proposed multi-activation function, upsampling, and AutoAugment were applied, the performance improved by 0.3%, 0.9%, and 0.9%, respectively. When all three proposed methods were simultaneously applied, a significant performance improvement of 3.5% to 89.8% was achieved.
