Convergence and Stability Analysis of LU Scheme on Unstructured Meshes: Part I - Euler Equations (비정렬 격자계에서 LU Implicit Scheme의 수렴성 및 안정성 해석 : Part I-오일러 방정식)

  • A comprehensive study has been made for the investigation of the convergence and stability characteristics of the LU scheme for solving the Euler equations on unstructured meshes. The von Neumann stability analysis technique was initially applied to a scalar model equation, and then the analysis was extended to the Euler equations. The results indicated that the convergence rate is governed by a specific combination of flow parameters. Based on this insight, it was shown that the LU scheme does not suffer any convergence deterioration at all grid aspect ratios, as long as the local time step is defined using an appropriate parameter combination.

Discussion on the Route of Lung Meridian: Focus on LU3 and LU4 (수태음폐경 노선에 대한 고찰: 천부·협백을 중심으로)

  • Objectives : An error was found in the recent standard by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the locations of the Upper arm Route of Lung Meridian (URLM) and its acupoints LU3 and LU4. This possible incorrect information is being taught throughout Korean medicine colleges nationwide, which follow WHO standards. Therefore, an investigation is required to sort out this discrepancy based on the evidence in historical documents. Methods : The location of WHO's URLM and LU3 and LU4 were compared with corresponding information in the classical literature. The anatomical structure mentioned in these classical documents was examined. Finally, an assessment was conducted on whether this structure is reflected in the WHO standards. Results : Classical literature prior to the early 20th century records the locations of the Lung Meridian and LU3 and LU4 of the upper arm to be in the artery on the medial aspect. This artery corresponds to the brachial artery. The location established by the WHO is on the anterolateral side of the upper arm, where no large arteries exist that can be found by haptic search or angiographically. The anterolateral side of the upper arm belongs to the Yang aspect, which does not coincide with the Yin aspect of Lung Meridian. Conclusions : The WHO's URLM and LU3-4 standards do not agree with the classical literature. The correct route must coincide with the brachial artery passing through the medial side of the humerus. The actual location of LU3-4 is on the medial aspect of the arm, just medial to the border of the biceps brachii muscle, on the brachial artery, 3-4 B-cun inferior to the anterior axillary fold.

Synthesis and Luminescence of Lu3(Al,Si)5(O,N)12:Ce3+ Phosphors

  • $Si^{4+}-N^{3-}$ was incorporated into $Ce^{3+}-doped$ lutetium aluminum garnet ($Lu_{2.965}Ce_{0.035}Al_5O_{12}$, $LuAG:Ce^{3+}$) lattices, resulting in the formation of $Lu_{2.965}Ce_{0.035}Al_{5-x}Si_xO_{12-x}N_x$ [(Lu,Ce)AG:xSN]. For x = 0-0.25, the synthesized powders consisted of the LuAG single phase, and the lattice constant decreased owing to the smaller $Si^{4+}$ ions. However, for x > 0.25, a small amount of unknown impurity phases was observed, and the lattice constant increased. Under 450 nm excitation, the PL spectrum of $LuAG:Ce^{3+}$ exhibited the green band, peaking at 505 nm. The incorporation of $Si^{4+}-N^{3-}$ into the $Al^{3+}-O^{2-}$ sites of $LuAG:Ce^{3+}$ led to a red-shift of the emission peak wavelength from 505 to 570 nm with increasing x. Corresponding CIE chromaticity coordinates varied from the green to yellow regions. These behaviors were discussed based on the modification of the $5d^1$ split levels and crystal field surroundings of $Ce^{3+}$, which arose from the Ce-(O,N)8 bonds.

A Study on the Change of Body Temperature according to the Needle Remaining Time at LU9 - Through the D.I.T.I. Scan - (태연혈(太淵穴)의 유침 시간에 따른 체온 변화 -적외선체열촬영(赤外線體熱撮影)을 중심으로-)

  • Objectives : This study was performed to find the desirable remaining time of needle in the acupuncture treatment. Methods : The 21 volunteers were given acupuncture at LU9 vertically and needles were remained for 2 min, 10 min, 15 min, 30 min, respectively. The thermographic change induced by acupuncture was measured with Digital Infrared Thermographic Image at the following acupoints: LU11, LU10, LU9, LU8, LU5, LU1, and PC7. The statistical significance of thermographic change was evaluated using paired t-test and post hoc Wilcoxon test. Results : The most significant changes after acupuncture were produced when needles were remained for 10 min or 15 min. LU11, LU5, LU1, and PC7 were the point at which all of the remaining time produced significant change commonly. At LU11, the biggest change was produced when needle was remained for 15 min, while at LU5, LU1, and PC7, the biggest change was produced when needle was remained for 30 min, and the smallest change was produced when needle was remained for 10 min at all of acupoints of LU11, LU5, LU1, and PC7. The unbalance between left side and right was decreased the most largely in 15 min group. Conclusions : The results of this study suggest that the desirable remaining time of acupuncture needle might be 15 min.

  • 본 연구는 인공 신경망 '추론'과정에서 연산량을 줄이는 아이디어를 고안했고, 이를 구현하여 기존 알고리즘과 성능을 비교 분석하였다. 특정 데이터 셋에 대한 실험을 통해 ReLU(Rectified Linear Unit) 함수의 결과를 분석했고, 그 결과를 통해 ReLU 함수의 결과가 예측가능함을 확인했다. 또한 인공 신경망 알고리즘에 ReLU 함수의 결과 예측 기법을 적용하여 인공 신경망 추론과정을 최적화했다. 이 아이디어를 기반으로 구현된 인공 신경망은 기존 아이디어로 구현된 인공 신경망에 비해 약 3배 빠른 성능을 보였다.

  • In this study, we take into account interval-valued vector optimization problems (IVOP) and obtain their relationships to interval vector variational inequalities (IVVI) of Stampacchia and Minty kind in aspects of convexificators, as well as the (IVOP) LU-efficient solution under the LU-convexity assumption. Additionally, we examine the weak version of the (IVVI) of the Stampacchia and Minty kind and determine the relationships between them and the weakly LU-efficient solution of the (IVOP). The results of this study improve and generalizes certain earlier results from the literature.

The Effect of Smoking on the Bioelectrical Capacitance Measured at Specific Acupoints of Lung Meridian: A Cross-Over Study (흡연이 수태음폐경 특정혈의 체표생체전하에 미치는 영향: 교차대조 연구)

  • Objective : The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of smoking on the skin bioelectrical capacitance at specific acupoints of lung meridian. Methods : Bioelectrical capacitance was measured on bilateral six source points(bilateral LU10, LU9, LU7, LU6, LU5, LU1), and the changes with time and between left and right side were analyzed. Results : The skin bioelectrical capacitance at specific acupoints of lung meridian was significantly increased after smoking. And it recovered as time passed. The change of the skin bioelectrical capacitances at specific acupoints of lung meridian with time were similar between left and right. Conclusion : Smoking increases the bioelectrical capacitance at specific acupoints of lung meridian. There is no difference between the effects of smoking on the bioelectrical capacitance at left and right specific acupoints of lung meridian.

Inhibitory Effects of Dunning Rat Prostate Tumor Fluid on Proliferation of the Metastatic MAT-LyLu Cell Line

  • Tumor fluid accumulation occurs in both human cancer and experimental tumor models. Solid tumors show a tendency to tumor fluid accumulation because of their anatomical and physiological features and this may be influenced by molecular factors. Fluid accumulation in the peri-tumor area also occurs in the Dunning model of rat prostate cancer as the tumor grows. In this study, the effects of tumor fluids that were obtained from Dunning prostate tumor-bearing Copenhagen rats on the strongly metastatic MAT-LyLu cell line were investigatedby examining the cell's migration and tumor fluid's toxicity and the kinetic parameters such as cell proliferation, mitotic index, and labelling index. In this research, tumor fluids were obtained from rats injected with $2{\times}10^5$ MAT-LyLu cells and treated with saline solution, and 200 nM tetrodotoxin (TTX), highly specific sodium channel blocker was used. Sterilized tumor fluids were added to medium of MAT-LyLu cells with the proportion of 20% in vitro. Consequently, it was demonstrated that Dunning rat prostate tumor fluid significantly inhibited proliferation (up to 50%), mitotic index, and labeling index of MAT-LyLu cells (up to 75%) (p<0.05) but stimulated the motility of the cells in vitro.

Treatment of Canine Tracheal Collapse by Injection-Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (기관지허탈 견에서 약침과 한약제를 이용한 치료)

  • A 15 years old castrated male Pug dog was referred with chief complaint of cough, described as a goose honk. He was diagnosed into of tracheal collapse by clinical signs and radiography. He was received by injection- AP with butorphanol (0.15 mg/kg, SID) at BL13, LU01, LU05, LU06, LU07, LU09 and CV22 for 10 days, and he was also received by injection-AP with butorphanol (0.40 mg/kg, SID) at BL13, LU01 and CV22 for 9 days. The patient was given with Sochungryong-Tang (0.5 g/head, TID) for 7 days, and he was additionally given with Sojagangki-Tang (1 ml/kg, TID) for 12 days. Cough was not detected at all, and tracheal diameter was more increased than that of session 1 on radiograph at session 19. Cough was not detected at all and tracheal diameter at follow-up study of three month later was more dilated than that of session 19. In conclusion, the present patient was a case with canine tracheal collapse which showed favorable therapeutic response by injection-AP with butorphanol combined by administration of herbal medicine.

Determination of L-Dopa by Spectrofluorimetry Using Co-fluorescence Enhancer (보조 형광증가제를 이용한 L-Dopa의 형광분광법적 정량)

  • Methods to determine L-dopa(L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine) in aqueous solution by spectrofluorimetry based upon the ligand sensitized luminescence of Tb(III) ion L-dopa complex have been studied. Tb(III) ion and Lu(III) ion were used as ligand sensitized fluorescencer and co-fluorescence enhancer, respectively. The effects of excitation wavelength, pH, concentration of Tb(III) ion, concentration of Lu(III) ion and emission wavelength on the fluorescence intensity were investigated. The fluorescence intensity of the Tb(III) ion L-dopa complex was further increased with addition of Lu(III) ion. The calibration curve for L-dopa was linear over the range from 5.0 ${\times}$ $10^{-7}$ M to 1.0${\times}$ $10^{-4}$ M and the detection limit was 4.0 ${\times}$ $10^{-8}$ M under the optimal experimental conditions of 300 nm, 8.0, 1.0 ${\times}$ $10^{-4}$ M and 545 nm for excitation wavelength, pH, concentration of Tb(III) ion and emission wavelength, respectively. When Lu(III) ion was added to Tb(Ⅲ) ion L-dopa complex, the concentration range of linear response and detection limit were 1.0${\times}$$10^{-8}$ M to 2.0 ${\times}$ $10^{-4}$ M and 1.0 ${\times}$ $10^{-9}$ M, respectively under the optimal experimental conditions of 300 nm, 8.5, 1.0 ${\times}$ $10^{-5}$ M, 1.0 ${\times}$ $10^{-5}$ M, 545 nm for excitation wavelength, pH, concentration of Tb(III) ion, concentration of Lu(III) ion and emission wavelength, respectively.
